When I look into your eyes
It's like watching the night sky
Or a beautiful sunrise
There's so much they hold
And just like them old stars
I see that you've come so far
To be right where you are
How old is your soul?

I won't give up on us
Even if the skies get rough
I'm giving you all my love
I'm still looking up

And when you're needing your space
To do some navigating
I'll be here patiently waiting
To see what you find

'Cause even the stars they burn
Some even fall to the earth
We got a lot to learn
God knows we're worth it
No I won't give up

I don't wanna be someone who walks away so easily
I'm here to stay and make the difference that I can make
Our differences they do a lot to teach us how to use
The tools, the gifts we've got yeah we got a lot at stake
And in the end, you're still my friend at least we didn't tend
For us to work we didn't break, we didn't burn
We had to learn how to bend without the world caving in
I had to learn what I got, and what I'm not
And who I am

I won't give up on us
Even if the skies get rough
I'm giving you all my love
I'm still looking up

So easy is our life
What's mine is yours and yours mine
Hardly do we ever fight
We'd rather be kind

I won't give up on us
Even if the skies get dark
I'm healing this broken heart
And I know I'm worth it

I won't give up on us
God knows I'm tough enough
We got a lot to learn
God knows we're worth it

No I won't give up on us
God knows I've had enough
We got a lot to learn
And we're, and we're worth it

No I won't give up
No I won't give up

General Comment:For me this song reminds me of a friend, a special one. We are separated by 13.000 miles away. Listening to this song makes me imagining that he is saying the words in the song for me. He is the only one...who always patiently waits..never complains..and always believes that we will make it through (distance, place, time, condition), he never gives us up. Always there. Even when i told him that i wouldnt be able to talk as much as before due to the life i had here, he just said. . ."Dont worry, i understand. You have to be a positive girl, a cool girl. Come whenever you want to, you know i always be here."

He gives me the space, he gives me the spirit, he gives me the trust, he gives me the patience. . . and now i am worried, what if i fall in love with him. Or i am already in ?

I hope we really can meet in person someday....

General Comment:This song has a lot of meaning for me. This song makes me think of a particular person. He is my ex, but we don't ever call each other exs, we say that we use to date whenever we are asked. We are still best friends. We were together 3 times throughout high school. First time, May 22nd 2010-June 20th 2010, second time, June 10th 2011-September 19th 2011, then the third time, December 26th 2011-May 17th, 2012. We broke up due to circumstances in our lives, not because we got into a huge fight and hated each other. We always stayed friends. The last time we broke up, he told me that he is letting me go, for me to get the relationship that I deserve and that he won't come after me again after a few months. We both agreed on keeping a friendship. This song makes me think of him. Right now, I have a new boyfriend, the first new boyfriend since I met him. My new boyfriend trusts me with being friends with someone I use to date, but the other night when he didn't know how to tell me he was falling in love with me, he got all jealous of any straight guy that I am friends with, especially the guy that I use to date. He ended up apologizing and saying it was stupid and that he loves that I keep my friendships in tact and told me why he was acting like that. This song describes me and the guy I use to date perfectly. When we first looked into each other's eyes, it was like "watching the night sky." It felt like when our eyes locked we already knew each other, from a past life or something, I just can't explain it. And we promised each other that we will always be friends and that we won't ever give up on each other. Whenever I hear that song, I think of everything we have been through together. For me it doesn't describe just romance, but an emotional connection to someone that you don't ever want to lose and who you won't ever, ever give up on. That is what this song means to me.

My Interpretation:When I first listened to this song I couldn't help it... I had to cry! This song perfectly describes what I've been feeling in the past few months. My mom was hospitalized January 3rd of this year and she went through a long, agonizing battle until her heart finally stopped beating on February 28th.

“When I look into your eyes
It's like watching the night sky
    Or a beautiful sunrise
    There's so much they hold”

Here it made me remember the moment when my mom’s beautiful dark eyes opened once again from an induced coma. I remember missing seeing them while she was in coma, and once they opened it felt like my whole life was starting over with a beautiful sunrise!

“And just like them old stars
I see that you've come so far
To be right where you are
    How old is your soul?”

Here it made me think of all the struggles she had to go through, and it reminded me of how she handled them. My mother was a very positive woman, always grateful for every day God had given her. Making the best out of the worst circumstances, and there is no doubt in my mind that she is right where she ought to be, in Heaven!

“I won't give up on us
Even if the skies get rough
I'm giving you all my love
    I'm still looking up”

This was the attitude I had during the struggle in the hospital. I never gave up. Not when the doctors told me that she wouldn’t make it, not when they were hesitant of practicing CPR even though my mom had requested it. Never giving up, always looking up, giving her all of my love.

“And when you're needing your space
    To do some navigating
    I'll be here patiently waiting
    To see what you find”

At this point I was almost about to stop the car because I couldn’t take it no more. This is exactly my attitude, I even posted something similar on Facebook a day after her passing. Now her soul needs her space to do some navigating, in the meantime I’ll be patiently waiting for her.

“Some [stars] even fall to the earth”

Days after my mom’s death, I would find myself looking at the dark sky, with all of its stars. And I would look at particular one and wonder if she became this star and if she could come down to earth to visit me. I later had a dream where she did.

“I don't wanna be someone who walks away so easily
I'm here to stay and make the difference that I can make”

This is what my mom thought me my whole life, and I applied it! I went to the hospital almost every day except for a couple of days where I became sick and didn’t want to make her get worse. I did everything I could, I helped as much as I could, I never walked away!

“I had to learn what I got, and what I'm not
    And who I am”

This was my lesson. I had to learn what I got, and what I’m not, AND WHO I AM. I GOT an immense love for my mother and a lot of Faith. I was reinforced the idea that even though I can try my hardest to make everything ok, the bottom line is that I’M NOT God to decide what was going to happen. I learned that I AM just a human being, who could only pray for the wellbeing of my mother, be it here on earth or up there in Heaven.

    “I'm healing this broken heart”

My heart is broken because the bottom line is that I can no longer feel her warmth! But my broken heart has been slowly healing, because I’m slowly learning a different way of making her present in my life.

    “No I won't give up”

I loved how this song ended. It reinforced my line of thought were even though the worst has happened, she is no longer here and there is absolutely nothing I can do to make her reappear, I won’t give up! I won’t give up loving her, I won’t give up making her part of my life, I won’t give up my faith, I won’t give up the hope that someday we’ll reunite!

My Interpretation:I believe the 2nd verse is about our human curiosity. Always wanting to try something knew whether its good or bad. We just want to figure out who we are and in order to do that we have to discover ourselves in unknown places. And no matter were we go or what we do at the end of our journey someone we love will always be there to welcome us home.

My Interpretation:I saw this song as Jason Mraz's view on humans beings in general and their relationship with the slowly evolving world and God.
I feel he is talking about God and how he doesnt give up on us. He loves us unconditionally.
He then decides he wont give up on us either.
He views humans as something special, because if God has faith in us then why shouldnt he?
There good in all of us and for all of us, and we should all help each other out. Were in this together.

General Comment:I think this song is about people who dont give up on someone they love, even they get dumped or someone who plays hard to get. He/she doesnt give up on him/her because he/she believes that god will help in such a way and he/she knows that god will never let him/her down.

And when you're needing your space
    To do some navigating
    I'll be here patiently waiting
    To see what you find

In this part of the song he/she believes that time is needed to remove the awkwardness and in no time they will get back to normal and be back to being friends status and someday he/she will have the chance to try to profess his/her love again.

As he/she looks down the road he/she believes that moving on is not an option because everything will be worth it and it will be a win win situation because if things might not work out in developing a relationship, he/she still won a friend and atleast he dint leave his/her relationship in an awkward status but on a friendship status.

This song is pretty much encourages people to fight for their love on someone that dumps them. Its pretty much true that YOLO and never stick to 1 person but when you loved someone there's pretty much a reason why you had to fall in love with him/her and think twice there is a reason why you had to meet him/her??? Life might be too short for one but it might be worth the wait and you dont want him/her THE ONE THAT GOT AWAY!!!

    -Keep fighting.
