  General Comment:This song always sends chills up my spine when I listen to it. It's just got those wonderful instrumental notes but then Flo comes in and creates this one big, out of body harmony that's just perfect in its own way. I don't want your future, I don't need your past, Flo's music is all I ask. ;)

  My Interpretation:I agree with another person, it can be interpreted in a number of ways. I got obsessed with this song during a breakup so that's how I'm gonna break it down.
  
  I'm gonna be released from behind these lies
  And don't care whether I live or die
  And I'm losing blood, I'm gonna leave my bones
  And I don't want your heart it leaves me cold
  
  I see this whole cd directed at one breakup really. This is her releasing herself from the lies she's been hiding behind. She's so tired of the frustration of the relationship that she just doesn't care anymore. The relationship is bleeding her dry and she just wants to escape her body. She doesn't want his heart b/c after what's happened between them, it'll only make it worse. Maybe he was a guy Florence loved but he wasn't as into her and hurt her to the point where she said to hell with it all.

  All she wanted was a positive era in her life (with him). Not marriage, but a good relationship for once. Enjoyable fun but he couldn't/Wouldn't give that to her. He made it a frustrating experience.

  So she leaves her body metaphorically. Her entire being. Loses her mind as someone similarly said "turning off her thoughts" Florence tries to move to a higher ground of thinking and feeling but former relationships and memories keep pulling her back down, keep her thinking there will never be any better and she'll never find someone who'll bring her joy and love in life.

  Don't need the birds let them fly away
  And I don't want the clouds, they never seem to stay
  
  Maybe she's bi, either way she's in the process of changing her mindset b/c she's angry. She doesn't need the good times (day) or the bad (night). She doesn't need hope/the highs (the birds) or sorrow/the lows (the clouds).
  
  I see birds as hope/optimism b/c they soar high and are free, that's how a relationship usually begins. I see clouds as sorrow b/c of Eeyore and that rain cloud x3 the sadness never seems to stay and b/c she's bitter about her most recent relationship, she's upset that she'll eventually get over it only to start over again with someone new. If the clouds stuck around, she wouldn't have to worry about falling in love again.

  She's moved on from speaking about him, now she doesn't want Any future or past in General. Florence just wants a pleasant present tense life without him. Some joy, some peace, some Fun.

  So she's leaving her body and going to a higher place, a wiser mindset, trying to adjust her way of being so she doesn't make the same mistakes but those memories and thoughts keep coming back and making her doubt if she can pull it off.

  Lyric Correction:Almost everything in the lyrics are perfect... except for ONE word on the first line... it's
  "I'm gonna be released from behind these LIES" not lines TT.TT

  General Comment:I think Florence is saying she doesnt need the night, or the clouds, or even "your heart" and that all she wants is one beautiful out of body moment. She doesnt care if shes not sane at the moment, but she doesnt think she needs much to have it. I think the part that says "history keeps pulling me down" has something to do with history repeating itself, and that she cant leave whatever she wants to for the moment.

  General Comment:I think it'S about making an astral (your spirit leaving your body )which you can make while in deep sleep,meditation or being relaxed to another level . she keep saying "i wanna leave my body" "moving on to higher grounds " "im gonna leave my bones " and while doing an astral if you do not return to your body you will die "i d'ont care whether i live or die " like saying she is taking a chance to leave her body and doesn't care if she dies because she wants to live that experience. "history kepts pulling me downs " is because she is almost doing an astral but the pain behind her history pulls her down .....i dont know if im right but this is how i understood that song

  to me the song is about unrequited love though - I could very well be wrong, but I kinda feel that.. well, she's in love with someone who doesn't love her back and she gets increasingly frustrated and stubborn, to the point of where she's basically like "dammit, I don't wanna be your wife, I just want to lie in your arms for once in my life!" and this love is eating her up, so she wants to break free and vanish cause she can't take it anymore. and of course she wants more than just "one bright moment" from that person but to me, it's like she's begging, "please, I see you can't love me, but just let me kiss you one time and pretend that you love me".. hmm, this doesn't sound like Florence tho, does it? anyway, that's what came to my mind so I thought I might as well write it down :) have a nice day Flows x
