Heart beats fast
Colors and promises
How to be brave?
How can I love when I'm afraid to fall?
But watching you stand alone
All of my doubt, suddenly goes away somehow
One step closer
I have died everyday waiting for you
Darling, don't be afraid, I have loved you for a thousand years
I'll love you for a thousand more
Time stands still
Beauty in all she is
I will be brave
I will not let anything, take away
What's standing in front of me
Every breath, every hour has come to this
One step closer
I have died everyday waiting for you
Darling, don't be afraid, I have loved you for a thousand years
I'll love you for a thousand more
And all along I believed I would find you
Time has brought your heart to me, I have loved you for a thousand years
I'll love you for a thousand more
One step closer
One step closer
I have died everyday waiting for you
Darling, don't be afraid, I have loved you for a thousand years
I'll love you for a thousand more
And all along I believed I would find you
Time has brought your heart to me, I have loved you for a thousand years
I'll love you for a thousand more
Colors and promises
How to be brave?
How can I love when I'm afraid to fall?
But watching you stand alone
All of my doubt, suddenly goes away somehow
One step closer

Darling, don't be afraid, I have loved you for a thousand years
I'll love you for a thousand more

Beauty in all she is

What's standing in front of me
Every breath, every hour has come to this

I'll love you for a thousand more

I think this song has a bittersweet side to it. I think it's about two people, one of whom has loved the other for as long as they can remember, and the song is a journey through their lives. I think the song is both a declaration and a self-acceptance of this woman's love for this man. For me, the second verse "Time stands still, beauty in all she is. I will be brave, I will not let anything take away" is about the wedding day of the man she loves. She's watching him marry a woman who is beautiful inside and out and is happy that he has found this person - I think her love for him supercedes her pain. I think she just needs him to know that she always has and always will love him. I do think the song has a happy 'One Day' kind of ending though. I like to think that the ending to the song is their hearts finally being flung together. The fact that she has "died" everyday waiting for him seems to speak of previous obstacles in their lives.
"She's watching him marry a woman who is beautiful inside and out and is happy that he has found this person - I think her love for him supercedes her pain."...so what you are saying is that she is watching the love of her life marrying another tramp (I mean woman....I mean girl) and she is actually HAPPY for him...for the two of them. Yeah, THAT sounds realistic. On what planet to you reside??? It's a beautiful song about love between two people, not three. The song's a LOVE song, not a song about a threesome. LOL.
on planet HIGH
Yeah, I just wanted to see if I were mistaken about the interpretation, but apparently I was not.
Calm down - it's just another way of looking at it. I certainly wasn't suggesting a threesome. I think you could be happy for someone you love if they are happy - if you believe there is such a thing as selfless love that is.
Unless you're my mama, don't tell me to 'calm down' or anything for that matter. Enjoy the music and shut the fuck up
Charming.
You both are correct! It depends on the emotional stability of the person.
Um no. You both are wrong. It's about Edward and Bella getting married. Watch the movie, read the book. Now ya know. ;)
Must admit - I've never read or seen Twilight - I may rectify this. <br /> It's just another way of looking at the song. Admittedly, the "I have died every day waiting for you" could very well be that the person has simply waited their whole life for this person to come along and has finally found them. The only bit that gets me is "time stands still, beauty in all she is" - I don't get why the woman singing this would be talking about herself? Unless this bit is meant to be from the man's point of view?<br /> I do like the idea of the song linking to a 'One Day' kinda love story though (been reading 'One Day' this week - maybe I'm just a bit too into it! :D)
Alright well first of all...Twilight is garbage but this song is excellent. That is particularly why I like KK22000's interpretation...it adds a bit more depth to the song instead of just thinking about a wedding and a bride walking down the aisle. ...And to you 'WetWipe' you're a genuine asshole. Music can be whatever you want it to be, its all about the listeners interpretation. You can make songs as personal as you see fit. So if the original comment author wants to think of this as a person slipping away but still being happy for them...its their right to think that. So how about you 'shut the fuck up' :)
Thanks Robbmyster :) I agree - I think one of the beautiful things about music is the ability to view it through a multitude of lenses.
"Time stands still; beauty in all she is". <br /> <br /> Here, I think time is being referred to as "she"

"time stands still, beauty in all she is"<br /> Exactly, It's the mans point of view. Listen to the "A thousand years part 2" That would definitely change your interpretation.
