"dance with my views" Could mean that he is trying to seem happy with what's actually happening, what he sees, reality. "Sleep with my thoughts," to me seems like he knows he thinks about her still, and sleeping with your thoughts means you're dreaming. And he still dreams about having her back. Or at least how they used to be, and he really wants it back.
And it is obvious to me now after reading that u.n.i is university.

it is a sad story because ed still like her but she has a new boyfriend.

Maybe the the way "U.N.I" is written, could be that she met him at univeristy :P
Their chosen paths caused them to drift and they parted ways.
I like the play on words, "You and I" and "U.N.I" as in university.
I also thought a previous comment suggesting that "uni" could refer to one was interesting. It seems a bit one sided that he's blaming her choice to go to university and not his own choice to follow his music career.
Maybe I'm reading too far into it though. LOVE this song.

I have friends in England that go to Oxford and whenever they tell me about school they always refer to it as "uni".
Also, when he says "You live in your halls and I live in a tour bus" I think that's pretty obvious...
Verse: He's over her and he knows he's good about it but he then see's a hairband and remembers about the girl his mind thinks about her but his heart just doesn't feel the love.
Chorus: He's wondering about her and maybe he thinks they could still be friends, but he knows its over and nothings going to change. The U.N.I. part he saying they were two but now they're just one "uni". But she knows he lied and he still wants her back deep down inside.
2nd Verse: Everyone said they'd be together but in reality they never want to get married and let their love fall apart. He never wants to get with another girl except the one he has now. Sleep with my thoughts dance with my view could be anything. but now she's in college and he's out on tour. He's getting worried and jealous from being apart from her. The first kiss tells everything in a relationship, they kissed but deep down inside they were nervous inside and having doubts. He tried to fight it and say that everything was going to be okay, but the only way he knew it wasn't working was when they fought.
3rd Verse: He's thinking maybe if he wasn't her with he'd be someone by now instead of wasting time with her. He tries to forget her aand move on but he can't. He wants to know if others feel the same way as him. He then says he would take her back if she came back to him. He would do the wrongs he did with her and he saying he's the only one, but deep down inside he knows that there is another one " MAN " and he will treat her better than he ever did.
