Ooh, ooh
I just wish that you would love me
Yeah, the same way that I love you
You’re so quick to up and leave me
When I put nothing else above you
I just really wished you cared
You said no matter what you’d be there
Now I’m alone, I’m stuck in my head
With an empty spot in my bed
I just really wish you loved me
Yeah, the same way that I love you
But now I guess you’re really done with me
Yeah, and I just can’t accept the truth
After all the times we shared
Guess I thought you really cared
I was there when you were scared
And now I’m going through it and you’re not here
I just don’t know what to do
Yeah, we were so close, and now we’re not, who woulda knew? (Who woulda knew?)
And you used to listen to the things I’m going through so how can I just not assume that there is not another who?
I just wish that you would love me
Yeah, the same way that I love you
You’re so quick to up and leave me
When I put nothing else above you
I just really wished you cared
You said no matter what you’d be there
Now I’m alone, I’m stuck in my head
With an empty spot in my bed
I just really wish you loved me
Yeah, the same way that I love you
But now I guess you’re really done with me
Yeah, and I just can’t accept the truth
And this shit is really hurting me
I never knew it, that this shit would really burden me
But now I know I really need you so certainly
You cut my heart in pieces, now I’m bleeding burgundy
Don’t got last words for me
That’s really how you feel?
I never knew that you were cold, you really give me chills
I put real gold up on your neck, ain’t talking stainless steel
I feel so stupid that I really thought this shit was real
I just wish that you would love me
Yeah, the same way that I love you
You’re so quick to up and leave me
When I put nothing else above you
I just really wished you cared
You said no matter what you’d be there
Now I’m alone, I’m stuck in my head
With an empty spot in my bed
I just really wish you loved me
Yeah, the same way that I love you
But now I guess you’re really done with me
Yeah, and I just can’t accept the truth

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
