    My Interpretation:The way to true happiness is hard. The "surface of life" is enjoying all these material things and giving into human desires. The voices are talking whenever he indulges, "Is it really worth it? You're wasting your time focusing on these little things. You should let go of your secular desires). Hangin' around with people who are also indulging is supposed to make him happy, but it gets him down because he wishes it was easier to quit all this.

    "It's easy to keep busy when you tell yourself you're traveling right." The Western way of life is the way to go! It's good to work and acquire material wealth and socialize with friends with drinks and games... right?

    I wonder, why did it only take "17 seconds"?

    General Comment:i think it's about someone living in denial, lying to themselves and thinking everything's just fine the way it is. it's about maintaining the status quo, not taking any risks. the trade off? a boring day-today life...

    awesome song though. very upbeat for a sorta sad song. i can see myself humming it all week. oh and the film clip! i mean, do i even need to say how amazing it is? i love this guy!

    General Comment:Rather self explanatory lyrics. The person he is singing about is not willing to put any effort in to get out of the rut, so he stays there living a boring life.
