I'll never let you down boy
I'll never let you go
Her subtle hint of life
Is so innocent and scary

"So tell me that you're here, boy"
She says as if she knows
When God took her with time
God made me quite alone

It's like the universe has left me
Without a place to go
Without a hint of light
To watch the movement glow

Where our song was slowly starting
Your memory felt so real
At first against my will
But God invented chills

Yeah I, I saw your ghost tonight
The moment felt so real
If your eyes stay right on mine
My wounds would start to heal

The kids are in a hurry
And I'm just full of fear
The lights make bodies blurry
It's getting hard enough to hear

It's like the evidence is cared for
And evidently clear
If I never leave this dance floor
Then I'll never leave you here

Yeah I, I saw your ghost tonight
The moment felt so real
If your eyes stay right on mine
My wounds would start to heal

I felt your ghost tonight
And God, I felt like hell
To know you're almost mine
But dreams are all I feel

Yeah I, I saw your ghost tonight
It fucking hurt like hell
I felt you here tonight
But dreams can't all be real

I saw your ghost tonight
It fucking hurt like hell
I felt you here tonight
But dreams can't all be real (real, real, real, real, real)

Sounds an awful lot like what it's like to go through the experience of heartbreak, whether it be in losing a loved one in passing or in seeing someone you dearly loved fall out of your life. When you're separated from someone you miss more than anything in the world (especially if it's someone you're in love with), you create an idealized image of them in your mind, and whenever you revisit that image (despite the passage of time and the way circumstances change), you're left with a ghost of a memory.

There are a number of ways to interpret this song, and I'm very impressed with DeLonge's songwriting here - it's a couple steps above anything he ever previously wrote with Blink/Boxcar Racer or with Angels and Airwaves. To me, this is absolutely about being unable to escape the memory of someone you still desperately miss and love - despite the fact that the person has moved on and no longer feels the same way about you. There's no feeling more bitter than the loneliness and sadness of realizing that you can never revisit or rewrite the past, especially when it comes to changing someone's feelings about you. If it makes any sense, sometimes the most haunting "ghosts" are the ones which are still alive and well, but are no longer in our lives as we once knew them.

This song kinda reminds me of box car racer. The drums in the bridge were kind of amazing.

    Lyric Correction

There is a line in the first pre-chorus. "But, God invented chills" is what it sounds like to me. Anybody else getting that too?

    Song Meaning

IMO this song is the same scenario as 'Not Now' but from the girl's perspective. If you don't know what 'Not Now' is about, go watch The Urethra Chronicles 2. :)

IMO this song is about memories & dealing with the loss of a loved girlfriend / partner iv never heard a song witch i can relate to so well, so this is my image of how the lyrics portray whats happened to me and other guys who have lost their partners... mind my english..

I'll never let you down boy, I'll never let you go Her subtle hint of life is so innocent and scary = dreaming and imagining the girl is still there for you or what yous had has not ended.

So tell me that you're here boy, she says as if she knows when god took her with time, god made me quite alone = you feel she knows the pain your in and can feel it too.

It's like the universe has left me, without a place to go without a hint of light, to watch the movement glow = its as if EVERYTHING has been taken from you and there's nothing you can do about it

When your song was slowly starting, your memory felt so real at first against my will, but god invented chills = hearing a song that strongly reminds you of great memories yous shared but although the memories of her are good, it hurts and is sad to think about it , but you cant help it.

Yeah I, I saw your ghost tonight, the moment felt so real If your eyes stay right on mine, my wounds would start to heal = following directly from the last lyric the song triggering the memories are so clear in your mind its like you can see them as real as day, you now don't want to leave this daydream.

he kids are in a hurry and I'm just full of fear. The lights make bodies blurry, it's getting hard enough to hear It's like the evidence is cared for, and evidently clear If I never leave this dance floor, I'll never leave you hear = facing facts knowing it will never be real again, having anxiety attacks..u don't wanna leave the fond memories , they are as close to real as you can get

I felt your ghost tonight, and god it felt like hell to know you're almost mine, but dreams are all I feel = the memories in your head hasn't changed a thing, it hasn't brought her back. you realize its the worst pain you can get.... "like hell"

Yeah I, I saw your ghost tonight, it fucking hurt like hell I felt you here tonight, but dreams can't all be real =the word "fuck" here is extremely powerful. the memories and feelings are priceless but now worthless. the ghost is all you have now.

a great song but a very sad song to those who have gone through similar to what i have, this is why i click with this song so well. best album from blink!

I think "ghost" refers to someone you can' t get. Kind of like the idiom "give up the ghost." He knows he can't get her, so she's a ghost. And he says "to know that you're almost mine" shows how close he was to getting her, but in the end she is just a ghost, and he has to give up. I think with all the references to the dancefloor, he might have met a girl and took her dancing, or met her out at a club, and they hit it off, but it never worked out.

To me, this song is about "him" - the author of the song - being haunted by the memory of losing his lover when he was very young. "When God took her with time, God made me quite alone." This line implies that the loss is a permanent one; that she died. The second verse reminds me of a recurring dream of a past memory. It's like he's seeing the girl he lost again in a prom-dance-esque reminiscent dream, and he knows he can only be with her in that state. "If I never leave this dance floor, I'll never leave you here."

This song always has a very powerful effect on me when I listen to it. It invokes a feeling of deep pain and sadness...the kind that can rip through a person. This song always gives me chills and has brought tears to my eyes in a way that no other song has. Most people cry when they hear a song because they can personally relate to the pain the song portrays. For me, it's more like feeling so fucking sorry for the song-writer that it brings tears to my eyes. That makes this song a very strong one, and (I think) one of Tom Delonge's most well-written ones.

Techno Ted
Audioslave
Techno Ted may be a person who caused Chris incredible emotional pain & trepidation as well as moments of peace & happiness but now is removed and awaiting his fate. Darling may be a different person who is also free of him and can live her life free of Ted's tyranny. "In between all the laughing, and daydreams ... lies: a desert of truth" Lies are like a desert or the omission of Truth: Where there were Lies then Truth was absent. The song, "Techno Ted", may be a cathartic celebration of the downfall of this person.

Son Şansın - Şarkı Sözleri
Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

Punchline

Ed Sheeran sings about missing his former partner and learning important life lessons in the process on “Punchline.” This track tells a story of battling to get rid of emotions for a former lover, whom he now realized might not have loved him the same way. He’s now caught between accepting that fact and learning life lessons from it and going back to beg her for another chance.
