Swinging in the backyard
Pull up in your fast car
Whistling my name

Open up a beer
And you take it over here
And play a video game

I'm in his favorite sun dress
Watching me get undressed
Take that body downtown

I say you the bestest
Lean in for a big kiss
Put his favorite perfume on

Go play a video game

It's you, it's you, it's all for you
Everything I do
I tell you all the time
Heaven is a place on earth with you
Tell me all the things you want to do
I heard that you like the bad girls
Honey, is that true?
It's better than I ever even knew
They say that the world was built for two
Only worth living if somebody is loving you
Baby now you do

Singing in the old bars
Swinging with the old stars
Living for the fame

Kissing in the blue dark
Playing pool and wild darts
Video games

He holds me in his big arms
Drunk and I am seeing stars
This is all I think of

Watching all our friends fall
In and out of Old Paul's
This is my idea of fun
Playing video games

It's you, it's you, it's all for you
Everything I do
I tell you all the time
Heaven is a place on earth with you
Tell me all the things you want to do
I heard that you like the bad girls
Honey, is that true?
It's better than I ever even knew
They say that the world was built for two
Only worth living if somebody is loving you
Baby now you do

(Now you do)

It's you, it's you, it's all for you
Everything I do
I tell you all the time
Heaven is a place on earth with you
Tell me all the things you want to do
I heard that you like the bad girls
Honey, is that true?
It's better than I ever even knew
They say that the world was built for two
Only worth living if somebody is loving you
Baby now you do

General Comment:I saw an interview where she said, that all she can do, when she listens to the song video games, is crying madly, since it's an incredibly sad song.

I think this song is also about a violent boy friend:
' He holds me in his big arms
    >> 'Drunk and I am seeing stars .'<<

And I think the song means so much more ... than we ever can imagine.

General Comment:YouTube has an NME interview with Lana specifically discussing Video Games. It seems that Lana is describing a boyfriend she was madly in love with "visually" who used to sit at home playing video games. Lana is so in infatuated with him that she sits beside him while writing her songs.

Lana claims that the musical composition, lyrics, and vocal style all embody her essential characteristics and that Video Games is an intensely personal song for her. She had no idea that it would be the songs fans would fall in love with.

My Interpretation:I think its about loving a guy, they seem young and he does not pay much attention to her, he does not understand how much she's trying to get his attention....she wears her best dress and all that and all he see's are his friends and alcohol and games. she's describing life as a game, her relationship with him as a game. lovely song, i find its very similar to "fade into you" you Muzzy Star.

General Comment:Sweeping, epic. Insolent, childish? Lana Del Rey's music has polarized, but Born To Die is without question the best album of 2012. "It's you, it's you, it's all for you" she pleads, to remind that art is made not for the artist.

Memory:"Heaven is a place that you, tell me all the things you want to do." Heaven is life with a man that is 100% open about his ambitions, what he wants to do, everything. If he shares everything he wants to do, then he should be honest in the relationship. ...

"I heard that you like the bad girls. Honey, is that true?" I heard you like to sleep around with promiscuous girls, that will sleep with men even if those men known to be in relationships.

And of after he assures her that he's faithful only to her, she says "it's better
    than I even knew."

"They say that the world was built for two
Only worth living if somebody is loving you
Baby now you do." Love with a steady companion is the most important thing in life. She's putting a lot of stake in devoting all of her love and precious time to this one man that she's not entirely sure loves her back. A lot of this song is about convincing herself the guy loves her, and being unsure if he sincerely returns the sentiment.

If he isn't truly in love with her, and maybe just attached for reasons he's afraid to confront, he can ignore her and prolong the issue by playing video games, and she will laugh it off and go along with the relationship. It's a relationship at a critical time in her life that's almost driven by complex of trying to figure out if this guy really likes he back.

This song has similar themes to "Dark Paradise" Being attached to a relationship that's pretty much doomed to heartbreak and being in denial.

General Comment:I think she's simply saying that she sacrifices her best interests to a man in the name of love. She's playing life like a surrealistic adventure game to keep her relationship alive.

My Interpretation:Whenever I hear this song I think of more sinister things. I believe she is singing about getting molested as a child by an older man (perhaps a relative). At the start of the song she is swinging a swing out back behind a house when a man she knows arrives in a car. He immediately cracks open a beer and invites her inside to "play video games" which I guess is an excuse to get her inside and watch her undress molest her. She dosent know any better, and as the man keeps telling her this is what life is all about...

"They say that the world was built for two
Only worth living if somebody is loving you
    Baby now you do"

That is him saying to her that this is normal, you should be happy. However, the tone of the song clearly demonstrates that she is unhappy and that this is not a good part of her life.

My Interpretation:I think this song is about a girl losing her virginity for the first time and then just enjoying the sexual act between her and her boyfriend.
"Go play a video game" seems to me like a request, it's her first time, yeah basically the 'video game' is in fact, the intercourse between them.

When the second verse starts she's lost her virginity and seen that sex is beautiful. They keep 'playing video games'.
    That's what I think, lol :)

General Comment:as it's lana's first single , I think the lyrics have two meanings , first one is what some of you said here (relationship with a guy and ...) , and the other one is about music and how she's trying to talk with listeners and grab their attention with "Watching her get undressed" and "Put our favorite perfume on" and ...
She did it and i love her voice
