Everyone wants to call it all around our life with a better name
Everyone falls and spins and gets up again with a friend who does the same
Everyone lies and cheats their wants and needs and still believes their heart
And everyone gets the chills, the kind that kills when the pain begins to start

Let me get this straight, do you want me here?
As I struggle through each and every year
And all these demons, they keep me up all night
They keep me up all night
They keep me up all night

Everyone's cross to bears are the crown they wear on endless holiday
Everyone raises kids in a world that changes life to a bitter game
Everyone works and fights, stays up all night to celebrate the day
And everyone lives to tell the tale of how we die alone some day

Let me get this straight, do you want me here?
As I struggle through each and every year
And all these demons, they keep me up all night
They keep me up all night
They keep me up all night
They keep me up all night
They keep me up all night

My Opinion:I can't help but think that this was written about DJ A.M.'s final day in New York City and then things that must've been racing through his head as he knew he just relapsed.

General Comment:I've been a huge blink fan my whole life and I really, really enjoyed this song. Not only is the sound a welcome fusion of elements from Boxcar and A & A, but the lyrics especially have that heartfelt sincerity that's present in their best songs. Fantastic single.

General Comment:First off, let me just say how psyched I am to have new Blink. Anything at all. It's just a cherry on top with this song that I like it quite a bit. Is it old Blink? No, and it shouldn't be. I really hope we can be spared the "they should have stayed retired/broken up; they sold out and sound manufactured now!" hyperbole and vitriol but I'm sure we won't be. Fact is, the guys in Blink aren't early to mid 20-somethings anymore, and shouldn't be writing or playing like they were a decade ago. Period.

ANYWAYS, I definitely echo the sentiment that the song is about the universality of struggling just to cope with contemporary problems in general. I also think though that the song could be the pleading of a single individual struggling with the reality of their personal drama coming into a new relationship for the first time. The person is asking their potential loved one if they can handle the person's baggage, explaining that everyone has their own, without downplaying the severity of their own issues. Just a thought, probably 900% off.

General Comment:cheers to the previous posters for their insightful comments. i agree with the post about how they are incorporating familiar elements from blink and the blink side projects, but they also blend new and fresh sounds into this song. i enjoy the hardcore guitar intro and the evenly shared vocals of mark and tom.

General Comment:I'm not gonna try to decipher the lyrics or anything, I just want to say that I've waited almost 8 years for a blink song and here it is. Some people are saying that this song sounds like crap blah blah blah, but this song fuckin delivers. Sounds like a blend of AVA/BCR, this song grew on me quickly. Can't wait to see them in Hershey wooooooooo!

My Interpretation:the chorus sounds like a guy asking god if he really wants him to stay on earth and deal with the evil around for example abusive drugs, hardcore parties, violence and corruption. the idea is extended by saying "all these demons [the negative points of life] they keep me up all night [prevent him from dreaming - maybe of a happier place or a better future]"

at first it sounds depressing but at the same time there's a hint of faith in it as he is asking god whether if it is the right choice - so he isn't decided yet if the world is worth living for

the verses also hold negativity but also a sense of togetherness; for example the line "everyone falls and spins and gets up again with a friend who does the same" suggests that everyone has low times in their lives but they will recover and "get up" with a friend who has gone through the same situation. so it shows that we are not alone. The idea that everyone goes through the same kind of shit in life is strengthened by the fact that every line in the verse uses the word "everyone" at the start.

so in conclusion i feel the song is about life, not the emo-nobody-likes-me extreme but also not the hollywood-happy-go-lucky kind of life expressed in happy songs. its just an honest view of how life is, both good and bad; but no matter how life turns out to be we will always be connected by the strength of human love and understanding (no matter how little might be present today, it is there, somewhere!).

great song btw, hated it first time i listened but kept it on repeat. now i love it - blink-182 continue to amaze me.

My Opinion:I agree. I think with their time off from each other, the different projects, that this is the only logical step forward for the band. It's reminiscent of Box Car Racer, Angels & Airwaves, and the last album all in one song. The lyrics make it seem like they've finally realized what life is about, and how to go about it all. And most of all, I think they're finally happy with where they are as a band. All of them have different projects, and family, that they are busy with, and that's alright with them. They realize that all of these other things, which were at one time obstacles, are now the creative juices that's keeping them all together. Fantastic song. Can't wait for the show in Milwaukee on August 23rd, and "Neighborhoods" on September 27th.
