The moon is high up on a mountain
The lunatics have taken over the asylum
Waiting on the rapture

Singing, "We're here to keep your prices down
We'll feed you to the hounds
To the daily mail, to get up, together"

You made a pig's ear, you made a mistake
Paid off security and got through the gate
You got away with it but we lie in wait, eh
Eh, eh

Where's the truth what's the use
I'm hanging around lost and found
And when you're here innocent
Fat chance, no plan
No regard for human life

You'll keep time, you've no right
You're fast to lose, you will lose
You jumped the queue, you're back again

President for life, love of all
The flies in the sky, the beasts of the earth
The fish in the sea have lost command

My Interpretation:The reference about 'hounds' and 'the Daily Mail'... I think it's all about populism and opium to the people... but the people is waking up.

General Comment:I agree with blacktigermusic.com. Quite like "You and whose army" on Amnesiac, same style, same topic: REVOLUTION NOW. It's encouraging. We are needing a huge political, economic change, it'll be now, there's no turning back... and we'll be a part of it.

My Interpretation:It's about Wall Street, the banks and the corporate greed that provoked the crisis we're currently living and got away with it.
Thom participated in the Occupy! movement in London.
    Brilliant song.

General Comment:From the first go, I heard this as a reply to pink floyd's "brain damage" from Dark Side of the Moon.
The lunatic is on the grass
The lunatic is on the grass
Remembering games and daisy chains and laughs
Got to keep the loonies on the path
The lunatic is in the hall
The lunatics are in my hall
The paper holds their folded faces to the floor
And every day the paper boy brings more
And if the dam breaks open many years too soon
And if there is no room upon the hill
And if your head explodes with dark forbodings too
I'll see you on the dark side of the moon
The lunatic is in my head
The lunatic is in my head
You raise the blade, you make the change
You re-arrange me 'till I'm sane
    You lock the door
    And throw away the key
There's someone in my head but it's not me.
And if the cloud bursts, thunder in your ear
You shout and no one seems to hear
And if the band you're in starts playing different tunes
I'll see you on the dark side of the moon

My Interpretation:I feel that the lyrics is about the impending, inevitable karma of those who manipulate a mass of people to get their way. And that the people who have been stepped on or are being stepped on are finally getting up, opening their minds, and have had enough of the bs that's been handed to them by the subject of the song - "You jumped the queue, you're back again" is like a clear imagery of that.

Song Meaning:oops, the "together, together" should be part of the quote. it's in reference to both the hounds and the daily mail.

the daily mail is a british tabloid that pretends to be journalism, similar to fox news in the states.

the song is about the eventual accountability of the insane egotistic sociopaths with power ("lord of all"), like those responsible for the financial crisis, who will justify ("to keep your prices down") any egregious acts ("no regard for human life")
