Light a candle's fire
Carries a good name
What would you ask a campfire
That scares me just the same
And knew you had it all along
An endless need for games
Don't forget a candle's fire
Is only just a flame
I, it's certain from afar
Failed to pull my weight
But you and I traveled through the fog
To arrive at our front gate
At night we rest beside the fire
And smile upon your face
Just don't forget a candle's fire
Is only just a flame
If I had known
That to carry on that way
It wouldn't show
In the creases on your face
If you should go
But you carry on my name
Just let it blow
In the fog of Bishop's Lane
Carries a good name
What would you ask a campfire
That scares me just the same
And knew you had it all along
An endless need for games
Don't forget a candle's fire
Is only just a flame
I, it's certain from afar
Failed to pull my weight
But you and I traveled through the fog
To arrive at our front gate
At night we rest beside the fire
And smile upon your face
Just don't forget a candle's fire
Is only just a flame
If I had known
That to carry on that way
It wouldn't show
In the creases on your face
If you should go
But you carry on my name
Just let it blow
In the fog of Bishop's Lane

The person's endless need for games starts the adventure.
The person failing to pull their weight felt like they were useless the whole time, but they managed to complete this adventure together.
'Don't forget a candle's fire is only just a flame' tells me that there was a price for this freedom, like these people were getting ahead of themselves.
Then the fifth part shows regret, because they finally paid the price (hence the line, 'it wouldn't show on the creases on your face')
In the last part the "protagonist" asks their partner to remember them if they leave and to never forget them.
This is how I see the song.
that's my interpretation.
hope that helps.
I think it's supposed to be "If I had known not to carry on that way."
