Oh
Tonight I'm gonna show
Them what I'm made up for
The killer queen inside me's
Coming out
Say, "Hello!"
Oh
Tonight I will return
The fame and riches earned
With you I'd watch them all be burnt
Whoa-Oh, Whoa-Oh
Whenever I start feeling strong
I'm called a bitch in the night
But I don't need these 14-carat golds to win
I am a woman, I insist it's my life
[Chorus]
I can be
The queen that's inside of me
This is my chance to release it
Be brave for you you'll see
I can be
The queen you need me to be
This is my chance to be the dance
Our dream is happening
I can be the queen
I
Wind and hurricane
The stormy sky and rain
When you run dry I'll flood your pain
Whoa-oh, whoa-oh
In between the moments of
The lady I've become
A voice speaks through the noise like drums
Rhomp-a-bump-a
Whenever I start feeling strong
I'm called a bitch in the night
But I don't need these 14-carat golds to win
I am a woman, I insist it's my life
I can be
The queen that's inside of me
This is my chance to release it
Be brave for you you'll see
I can be
The queen you need me to be
This is my chance to be the dance
Our dream is happening
I can be the queen
The quee-ee-ee-ee-ee-ee-een
The que-ee-een
Quee-ee-een
Quee-ee-een
Starry night come inside me like never before
Don't forget me when I come crying to heaven's door
I will fly on a challenger across the sky
Like a phoenix so you can remind them of the dream I bore
[Repeat: x2]
Whoa, oh, oh
Whoa-oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
Whoa-oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh, oh
Tonight I'm gonna show

"when punk-tius comes to kill the king upon his throne, I'm ready for their stones...... I don't want to die alone" - Bloody Mary
"my songs are of the revolution. My heart hurts for my generation..... I have cried for, I will die for how I care" - Americano
"I'm on the edge of glory and I'm standing on a moment of truth..... Another shot, before we kiss the other side tonight, I'm on the edge of something final we call life tonight, put on your shades cause I'll be dancing in the flames tonight" - Edge of Glory
"im gonna drink my tears and cry, cause I know you love me baby" - Government Hooker
"diana, you're still in our hearts, never let you fall apart, together we'll dance in the dark" - Dance In The Dark
Theres so many underlying messages in her music that go unnoticed.
she's about to do something BIG, and she knows she might die for it.
All of her albums have overarching themes and what not.
The Fame emphasized flamboyance and other raunchy things that accompany riches and fame.
The Fame Monster emphasized the flaws in addition to Gaga's certain phobias and fears.
Born This Way emphasizes the individual[especially those who are discriminated against for "racial," sexual, philosophical, or religious reasons.] in the face of society's oppressive idea of being normal yet promoting uniqueness. To empower oneself and accept one another's differences to grow stronger and achieve or at least pursue happiness.
Shrug. I do not expect Gaga to be stupid enough to risk killing her self. The noble end of a short life for a good cause is the pinnacle of immaturity.
The last part of this song is exactly about doing something risky and / or dying young.
Many legends have died at the age of 27 for various reasons, and the first time I heard this song I got seriously scared that she could be planning her own death.
"like a pheonix so you can remind them of the dream I bore"
Isn't it an explicit martyr line?
Yes, it still gives me the chills when I stop to think of it.
I hope I'm wrong about all of this, but I can't help considering it.
It is a little extreme to assume that drag queens and gay men are all that the song is about empowering, but I definitely got wisps of that in listening to the song.
However, when I read the lyrics, they invoke a sense of stalwart perseverance in the face of adversity. To overcome any challenge regardless of the odds and what not.
I could see this as empowering any person, people who feel oppressed as a result of being trapped in the closet or whatever, or simply emphasizing Gaga's "role" as the leader or queen of gay/bi/transgender movements and rights.
No Floods - "I never ever thought I'd live away From everybody that I love and say Goodbye"
The Queen - "Oh, tonight I'm gonna show them what I'm made of, oh, The killer queen inside me is coming to say hello"
No Floods - "No matter lightning or thunder, Buckets of rain water, You can't flood this town"
The Queen - "I, wind and hurricane, The stormy sky and rain, When you run dry I'll flood your pain"
And perhaps
No Floods: “fire can’t burn these hands”
The Queen: “like a phoenix”
Throughout the song, there are some other parts that recall Marry The Night earlier in the album, like the constant references to tonight and the church bells in the very beginning of the song. At the very end of the song, the lyrics “I will fly on a challenger across the sky” and her voice cracking for that moment after she finishes her lyrics seems to suggest a connection to Future Love from The Fame Ball Tour. In that song, she talks about a “plane car” or a “flying car” (depending on the live version you listen to) that she uses to get to her future love. Is she trying to say that her fans have been her future love all along? That might be going too far, though.
What we can concretely see evident is The Queen’s relation to No Floods, its church bells and night references that call back to Marry The Night, and her very clear voice crack at the end of her lyrics that imitate her voice cracking at the end of Future Love. Her constant self-referencing reminds me why I love Lady Gaga and why I think she’s a wonderful lyricist. Her lyrics are getting closer and closer to being poetic and I can’t wait for the day when people outside her super fans see that she’s more than just her “rah rah roma mas” and her “Juda-juda-a-as.” It’s easy to overlook The Queen as a simple song, since it’s a bonus track and its beginning sounds very simplistic, but the song is riddled with little reminders of who she was and it all builds up to that very last, stanza that sounds like a powerfully booming declaration of her identity and love for her dreams and her fans. I think it’s becoming one of my favorite songs on the album and of hers.
Side-note: According to Fernando Garibay, the song’s background music also references Queen apparently. I don’t listen to Queen enough to see the connection, but if one of her producers says so, then it’s another legitimate reference to Lady Gaga’s past.
"The Killer Queen inside of me is coming to say hello."
As far as the reference in the music, I think he's probably referring to the harmonized guitars towards the end. Heavily layered, harmonized lead guitars is one of Brian May's trademark moves.
