    Memory:I was listening to this song when I received the call that a dear friend recently took his own life. He always was and forever will be someone I admire.

    General Comment:At this point our hero is curious if he will ever change his woe some ways. And, if he ever does change what new person will he become...he's discovered so many identities he'd like to become.

    At this point, our hero is tired of wanting more than what he can become. Tired of exploring himself. Tired of the conflict.

    It's clear that the singer understands there are different sides to his personality and these different roles are clashing against one another. I read somewhere that this album was recorded during the break-up of a five year relationship - a side of him wants to impress this other person, while the other side just wants to move on. It's a song most of us can relate to who have been in such a situation.

    Song Meaning:pecknold has said in interviews that he doesnt have any friends outside of the band due to intense social anxiety.... i think thats what this song is about...

    My Interpretation:Most of the songs on this album are about making a big change your life. The singer has still not been able to accomplish this. He's now reached a critical point. He's afraid that if he is unable to find a way to change his life, he'll become embittered and not care anymore. The singer here could easily be the "prodigal son" in "The Plains / Bitter Dance", hoping to be admired by his father.
