Are you worth your weight in gold?
'Cause you're behind my eyelids when I'm all alone
Hey stranger, I want ya to catch me like a cold
You and God both got the guns
When you shoot, I think I'd duck

I led the revolution in my bedroom
And I set all the zippers free
We said, "No more war, no more clothes, give me peace
Oh, kiss me"

Hey, hey, we are a hurricane
Drop our anchors in a storm
Hey, they will never be the same
A fire in a flask to keep us warm
'Cause they know, I know, that they don't look like me
Oh, they know, I know, that they don't sound like me

You'll dance to anything
You'll dance to anything

Oh I confess, I'd confess in a room where I'm blessed
But he didn't come and speak to me or put my heart at ease
And I believe that half the time, I am a wolf among the sheep
Gnawing at the wool over my eyes

I led the revolution in my bedroom
And I set all the zippers free
We said, "No more war
No more clothes, give me peace
Oh, kiss me"

Hey, hey, we are a hurricane
Drop our anchors in a storm
Hey, they will never be the same
A fire in a flask to keep us warm
'Cause they know, I know, that they don't look like me
Oh, they know, I know, that they don't sound like me

You'll dance to anything
You'll dance to anything
You'll dance to anything
You'll dance to anything

Fix me or conflict me
I'll take anything
Fix me or just conflict me
'Cause I'll take anything

Hey, hey, we are a hurricane
Drop our anchors in a storm
Hey, they will never be the same
A fire in a flask to keep us warm
'Cause they know, I know, that they don't look like me
Oh, they know, I know, that they don't sound like me

You'll dance to anything
You'll dance to anything

    My Interpretation

Just my alternative interpretation of this, because I'm not saying that it doesn't have any deeper meaning behind it, but rather it is symbolic to whatever this Ryan stuff may be.

But, I'm seeing some of the song obviously shedding some lyrics implying a prostitute, or prostitution and sex. Here's some lines:

"Are you worth your weight in gold?" Their cost. Ya know..

"Hey, stranger, I want you to catch me like a cold You and God both got the guns When you shoot I think I'd duck" STDs, coming from either person.

"I led the revolution in my bedroom And I set all the zippers free We said no more wars, no more clothes, give me peace Oh, kiss me" Basically represents make love, not war. Lots of it.

"We are a hurricane Drop our anchors in a storm" They left their mark on the girl, left a remnant; a memento.

"You'll dance to anything" They'll sleep with anyone (for the right price).

Purely what I got from listening to the song. And if this pretty close, it could also be symbolic and have some deeper meaning behind it.

It's about Rydons! Seriously. "Oh I confess, I confess to the rumor of us." And he says 'he' not she. XP

By the way, I think some of the lyrics are wrong. I hear "You and God both got the guns, And when you shoot I think I'd duck."

This song is definitely aimed at Ryan and Jon leaving the group. With the "revolution in my bedroom" part, I thought of the Nine in the Afternoon video and the Pretty.Odd album in general with this song. If you look back on the first two albums pretty much all the lyrics were done by Ryan and Brendon sang with a couple of exceptions of course like Brendon always went with what Ryan said and such with the whole "I'm a wolf" lyric, always trying to be like him etc. It's a "good luck with your endeavors but you'll never be as good as what we built" song. Absolutely love this song among others. :]

This is definitely about Ryan. He was Brendon's best friend, so of course he loved him (not in a romantic way though), but just saying that he meant a lot to him and they both had to ruin their closeness, so now they are only 'friends'. It's pretty obvious. It's also about The Young Veins as well, what with "They will never be the same/They don't look like me/They don't sound like me".

This is an awesome song. Definietly one of my favourites off of Vices & Virtues, which is saying something, as overall it is a brilliant album!

    My Opinion

This is definitely about Ryan. I can't even tell how I came to that conclusion, but the first time I heard this I had this big gut feeling inside me that Hurricane is a personal song and that it's written about Ryan. Now that I think about it, this song was played in The Overture when Brendon was trying to save the chained girl. And people speculate that the girl represents Ryan, myself concluded. I don't know how I came to that conclusion, but I just KNOW it's Ryan.

"'Cause you're behind my eyelids when I'm all alone" I thought that was a creative line. ^^

"Oh I confess, I confess to the rumor of us." Haha, Rydon fans will seriously react to this line.

"And I believe that half the time I am a wolf among the sheep, gnawing at the wool over my eyes." This line got me thinking. 'Cause I think the wool over his eyes implies that he is fooling himself that he belongs here, like he is one of the sheep but he's actually a wolf that will bring destruction to them all. And he doesn't realize that he's slowly "gnawing at the wool over his eyes."

    My Interpretation

I kind of made my own interpretation to it. Which is off, but I'll share it anyway.

Vices and Virtues. For me, the song relates to pride. Examples of lines:

"Hey, stranger, I want you to catch me like a cold." "I led the revolution in my bedroom/ And I set all the zippers free" "Oh, kiss me"

    And of course:

"'Cause they know, I know/ That they don't look like me Oh they know, I know/ That they don't sound like me"

It's like he's screaming "Hey! I'm amazing, I'm badass, and I am worth everything you've got! Give me envy, give me malice, give me YOUR ATTENTION." (Sorry, I just HAD TO. ^^)

However, despite his pride, there is still this one person that he sees besides himself (besides God). "Are you worth your weight in gold?/'Cause you're behind my eyelids when I'm all alone." and "You and God both got the guns/ When you shoot I think I'd duck." (it kind of means like, besides himself, the only other beings he'd follow or waste his time with is that one person and God).

Again, holding the attention, he 'confesses' the rumor of him and his friend. "But he didn't come and speak to me." I suppose that means that everyone is giving him the attention for that rumor except for that friend of his (Ryan?).

"Oh put my heart at ease." Since his friend isn't giving him the attention, he's bothered by it. Especially since he's part of the rumor too.

"And I believe that half the time /I am a wolf among the sheep/ Gnawing at the wool over my eyes." He thinks he's badass, but he'll pose danger to his crowd/scene/sheep/whatever. See my comment above.

"We are a hurricane/ Drop our anchors in a storm." He's famous, and by dropping anchors, he's putting his mark in history. He's wild and he goes against the flow.

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/

Plastic Bag
Ed Sheeran
“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it. “I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
