Rather die in your arms, than die lonesome
Rather die hard, than die hollow
The higher that I climb
The deeper I fall down
I'm running out of time
So let's dance while we're waiting

We will live longer than I will
We will be better than I was
We can cross rivers with our will
We can do better than I can
So dance while you can
Dance 'cause you must
Love out of lust
Dance while you can

Rather live out a lie than live wondering
How the fire feels while burning
For life is like a flame
And the ashes for wasting
So honey don't be afraid
To dance while we're waiting
We will live longer than I will
We will be better than I was
We can cross rivers without wind
We can do better than I can
So dance while you can
Dance 'cause you must
Love out of lust
Dance while you can

So tired of waiting
Come baby
So tired of waiting
Come baby

We will live longer than I will
We will be better than I was
We can cross rivers with our will
We can do better than I can

We will live longer than I will
We will be better than I was
We can cross rivers with our will
We can do better than I can

So dance while you can
Dance 'cause you must
Love out of lust
So dance while you can

Love out of lust
Love out of lust
Love out of lust

General Comment:i fell in love with a guy on internet! i knew we would never be toghether!!! it was short but intense!!! it was getting unbearable so both of decided to quit (the higher that i climb the deeper that i fall) !! but i know "we will live longer than i will".We had love out of lust, i know now i will die loved (rather die in your arms). (i am running out of time); we knew our connection won't last long!! we can cross rivers with our will; it was 3 years ago but i still feel we are magically connected. i have no means to connect to him but like he is with me!!!! i am busy back in life but he will always have this special place even if i fall in love again!!! but we had the best time toghether (dance when you can, dance when you must). i think this song can mean what can make out of it!!! but sure this song is about love like Romeo and Juliet had!!!

General Comment:If i could make a music video for this song, it would be mostly set in the desert during sunset. Crowns of flowers, dirty faces, and bulky shawls. the discovery of an oasis. rafting through sand dunes. this song's put me in a daydream :)

Song Meaning:To me, this song is about a girl who can't live without a relationship. She is driven by a pure need for companionship (even if it's unhealthy), because she doesn't feel whole or alive without it. It becomes an addiction that she gets a high from, but like any addiction, she finds it more difficult to abandon ("The higher that I climb, the deeper I fall down"). She feels as though while standing still and being alone, she realizes how quickly life burns away and how dismal it results, but if she becomes consumed with "dancing" in this relationship, life is more bearable.

General Comment:I thought personally this song was that these lovers are in love and will be in love forever, but one feels like he or she might die soon. However, the love and they will keep going for eternity. They do say when you go to heaven you will live your happiest time in life for eternity.

General Comment:Lykke Li on the song:

“I wrote that one quite late at night, in one go actually, I feel like I’ve been simmering that feeling for a long time that you are in this kind of destructive relationship or affair whatever you would call it, a meeting; and you know that it’s never ever gonna work out but you keep on hoping but then you realize that, you know, this is life so you might as well dance while you can, ya know? Cuz it all it’s all gonna burn up anyway.”

My Interpretation:The melancholy vibe of this song really hits me hard, but I'll leave out personal opinion to get to the point :P

To me, this song is about a relationship that burns bright, hot, and short. However, the feelings remain forever.

"-WE- will live longer than -I- will"
is saying that, even though she (and, presumably, he) will eventually fall out of the relationship, their new found connection will never be lost. Most songs like this are about heartache when having to see the person again, but not this one. Even though the music is sad, slow, and reflective, her tone and word choice indicate that this is perfectly fine. They knew this would happen and, because of this relationship, they are able to still remain close after the break up.

Parts such as "so tired of waiting" and "dance while you're waiting" are just metaphors for how both people are aware of the dynamic of their relationship. Unwilling to wait for things to die off, they are going to make the most of it and enjoy the relationship as a joyous event.

General Comment:I got it from something she said herself:

General Comment:I believe this song is about doing something you know will have fatal consequences and though you are fully aware of these, you are still participating, cause you might as well live while you do it while you can. Might as well dance while you can. You know it is going to end someday - that destructive relationship, but why just be in it while you can?

General Comment:this reminds me of what I'm going thru that's why its haunting in me in my sleep, I am the one being sung to. I feel as though its about a woman who tells her true love (metaphorically speaking) to find others to love in the meantime (let's dance while we're waiting). So in essence love out of lust means lust afters others, enjoy your life with others its too short, and then true love will come.
