And this is my last remaining filter on my last remaining words
It's leaving the taste of something bitter on my tongue
I'm leaving a letter full of reasons along with a line that starts to blur
Into a page that says you faded way too young
'Cause you're leaving something short of innocent
I'm still thinking of the times we should of spent
It's as if this form of treason crawled up deep inside your head
And left you notes on how to keep your insides dead
If I had any other heart if any other piece spoke louder
If I had any other hands I wouldn't need the voice to tell
The world about the coward that refuses to stand and claim the blood on your hands
If I had any other heart beside my own we might have left you cold
???
'Cause I've been this awful shade of lonely since your reasons left the room
And I'd see everything get warmer if you decide to follow suit
If I could paint the town with all your good intent
I'd leave these walls as red as my eyes could have been
While picking comfort for my Father for a place to rest his head
If I had any other heart if any other piece spoke louder
If I had any other hands I wouldn't need the voice to tell
The world about the coward that refuses to stand and claim the blood on your hands
If I had any other heart, if I had any other heart beside my own
If I were king of the world and I could build you a day
I'd smile just to rip it all away
I would to blaze a memory in your head that screams about regret.
If I had any other heart if any other piece spoke louder
If I had any other hands if I had any other hands
If I had any other heart
If I had any other hands
Are you still refusing to stand and claim the blood on your hands
If I had any other heart
If I had any other heart
It's leaving the taste of something bitter on my tongue
I'm leaving a letter full of reasons along with a line that starts to blur

Music is open to interpretation.
Someone could take it as it is about mayday parade, or as Jason clearly said its about his step-mother.
But the song still has the same core to it. That hurt of betrayal.
For me personally i use this song and Thanks For Nothing to fit the situation of two bestfriends that fell apart when one commits an unforgivable act of betrayal.
here he explains the story behind it.

"This song is a delayed reaction to being abandoned by my stepmother after my father's passing. She cut off communication with all of us, stopped calling, writing, anything. We found out later that she had remarried and just started over about six months after we last talked to her. The time between the funeral and her deciding to start over? Roughly two weeks. Janet (or whatever your name is now), you deserve what you get."

Jason was the reason I had listened to Mayday Parade. His voice is the replica of perfection and emotion, in my opinion.
Also, his lyrics are striking, passionate, and emotionally inciting. All of the good/early songs of Mayday Parade were his words. He was the brains of Mayday Parade, and now they suck without him. They have completely sold out and lost their true value (seems like they’re turning into a pop band with girls targeted as their main audience).
Jason Lancaster is one of the best artists out there, in every regard that counts (voice, passion, emotion, lyricism, genuine), and I will continue to support him as I have for several years.

He's saying that this is the last time he's going to watch his words, because covering up what he's trying to say isn't helping at all, So he's writing her about what happened, and only meant it to be a couple of lines, but instead (as we all know) it turned into a big rant that turned into a page saying basically one thing, "That she faded way to young" Meaning, she's changed but changed too soon. And now she's leaving him as a different girl "Short of innocent." And he's thinking of the times that they were alone, that they should have been spending together. And the voice of "treason", is saying that she has to keep the old her, (person that she used to be) dead.

Hands are probably used as a symbol in this song, as to what he could do with them. Like, how much he could hold, or handle. So he's saying if he had anyother hands, he might be able to handle it better than using his (amazing) voice to tell the world about the situation. He's clearly not happy with her, and he's saying if any other peice of him (that says to leave her) spoke louder than his heart, he could have just left her easily. "The coward" Is the girl and she's making excuses, and trying to lighten the situation and blame his pain on everyone else.

I'm handed a book about instructions on when I should know to go
And tracing my fingers down the binding I get cold
Cause I've been this awful shade of lonely since your reasons left the room
And I'd see everything get warmer if you decide to follow suit
If I could paint the town with all your good intent
I'd leave these walls as red as my eyes could have been
While picking comfort for my Father for a place to rest his head
Well Tallahassee will stay gray outside instead
He's saying that a lot of people are telling him when to go, and he's thinking about listening but he can't let go of her. Once her excuses started to become meaningless, he's been very sad. To
"follow suit" is an idiom for doing the same thing as what someone's done to you, and he's saying if she would just treat him the way he's treated her, he'd feel a lot better about staying with her. He's saying that she didn't have any good intentions for them, and that he would have to leave the walls as red as his eyes could have been. Meaning, he wouldn't have much color to use because she only ever made him mad, and cry. And he could be just as angry and sad like when he was making decisions about where his dad would lay. But he'd rather see the town gray, than angry.

Simply put, if he were on top of everything, and could make her feel good, he'd take everything away from her in a heart beat, and then that would be the feeling of regretting what she's done to him.

Beautiful, but very complicated song.
“This record spans the last four years of my life. It’s really about growing up,” says LANCASTER. “I'm 27 years old now, and I've written so many songs about girls, so we collected ourselves to talk about bigger things in life that are important to everyone. There are songs on LUCKY STREET about religion, lack of religion, lack of faith, birth and death. It's really a wide spectrum of topics.”
( "It's really about growing up." )
It may not be about a girl, but it's about his past. And he's talking about the people that were apart of it, It's a wide spectrum of topics. Also, I put at the top, my interepertation. I may have kept saying "her," but by saying "her" and "girl" It could be about anyone/anything. I was giving "anyone" a shorter name, and a pronoun.
"I would to blaze a memory in your head that screams about regret"
it's
I want to place a memory in your head that screams about regret
"If I had any other heart beside my own we might have left you cold"
it ends
"If I had any other heart, If I had any other heart beside my own"
also the third time through actually isn't the chorus. It goes:
"If I had any other heart, If any other piece spoke louder
If I had any other hands, If I had any other hands
Oh God If I had any other heart
Whoa if I had any other hands
And your still refusing to stand or claim the blood on your hands
If I had any other heart
If I had any other heart"
"the coward that refuses to stand and claim the blood on your hands"
The "Blood" Being The Effort And Hard Work He Put Into Mayday That He Wasn't Credited For
"It's as if this form of treason crawled up deep inside your head

About How The Band Had No Feelings Towards How He Needed To Spend Time With His Father During His Last Few Months And They Wouldn't Let Him Take Time Off...

How He Could've Wasted His Time Crying And Being Aggressive Towards Mayday But Instead Channelled His Energy Into Making His Dad's Last Few Months Enjoyable
Since we're supposed to say what the song is about, I'm not really sure what I think it's about. Naturally, people assume and want to relate it to relationships with significant others but maybe it's about having to let go of a bad friendship. Like, I can kind of see it being someone (Jason) having a friend that took a wrong turn somewhere and he/she needed help that she wasn't ready to accept.
But who really knows.
