Rippin' my heart was so easy, so easy, launch your assault now, take it easy. Raise your weapon, raise your weapon, one word and it's over. rippin' through like a missile, rippin' through my heart, rob me of this love. Raise your weapon, raise your weapon... And it's over.

Love your ego, you won't feel a thing, always number one, the pen with a bent wrist crooked king, sign away our peace, for your war, one word and it's over.
Dropping your bombs now, on all we've built, how does it feel now to watch it burn, burn, burn? Raise your weapons, raise your weapons... And it's over.

Rippin' my heart was so easy, so easy, launch your assault now, take it easy. Raise your weapon, raise your weapon, one word and it's over. Rippin' through like a missile, rippin' through my heart, rob me of this love. Raise your weapon, raise your weapon... And it's over. How does it feel now to watch it burn, burn, burn?

My Interpretation:I think the most likely interpretation of this song is along the lines of a breakup. But more specifically, I think this could be about the breakup between a soldier and his girlfriend. this goes along with the extended metaphor of war, and it also fits into the drop- he thinks about her until he literally is dropped into the warzone, and is unable to think about her anymore amidst the destruction. Only in mid-firefight(middle of the bassline) does he suddenly remember her, and the return to the piano at the end might indicate that his hesitation at her memory got him killed in action.

This song has a lot of personal meaning for me, too. I recently went through my first breakup, and i'm still trying to find a way to either get her back or cope with the pain. Raise your Weapon has both symbolical and literal parallels to my current situation.

"Ripping my heart was so easy, so easy"
I lament over how easily I got my heart broken.
"Launch your assault now, take it easy"
I'm conflicted over whether to blame her, or whether to just let it go.
"Raise your weapon, raise your weapon"
I play Airsoft, so "raising my 'weapons'" is literally how i'm coping with the pain. Trying to find happiness in the activities I enjoy.
    "One word, and it's over"
I'm afraid of telling her I love her, for fear that "one word" will ruin whatever we still have.
"Ripping through like a missile, ripping through my heart"
    Same as the first line.
    "Rob me of this love"
I can't be with the one I love, and it takes all the love out of my life.
"Raise your weapon, raise your weapon, and its over"
Back to the airsoft parallel: for the time it takes to empty a magazine on my pistol, i concentrate on nothing else. but as soon as the slide locks back, the pain returns, and the momentary escape is over.

"Love your ego, you won't feel a thing"
"ego" is latin for "self"- If you can feel good about yourself, the pain is less so.
"always number one, the pen with the bent wrist, crooked king"
Even though I would gladly put her happiness before my own, I need to remember my own importance in my life.
"Sign away our peace for your war"
I let her go, and in doing so I gave up my peace of mind for internal conflict.
    "one word, and its over"
    repeat of previous line.
"dropping your bombs now, on all we built"
double meaning here. Her departure felt like it tore down whatever we had together. OR, if I admit to her how much I care for her, it might be like bombing whatever we had left.
"How does it feel now, to watch it burn, burn, burn?"
Self-mockery- I can only watch now as the remains of our relationship disintegrate, and I torment myself with inaction.
"raise your weapons, raise your weapons, and its over"
once again, I try to escape into my hobbies, but it's a temporary solace at best.

the third verse is a repeat of the first. I don't know what this means for me yet; chronologically, I guess it would be me getting over her. Or possibly, Her taking me back, and the drop is our relationship blooming and exploding into love and lust and bass and amazing and happiness.

One of my favorite deadmau5 songs. Beautiful, soul-searing, and somehow showing both strength and vulnerability at the same time.

My Interpretation:While I understand that this song can be interpreted as a relationship, I instead interpret the song as an oppressed artist trying to break free, and find her inner voice/weapon.

First verse is a young child, witnessing her parents fighting once again. She finds solace in her artwork.

"Ripping my heart..." - Tearing the family apart, not realizing that the child sees everything.

"Raise your weapon...One word..." - The parents argument climaxes, and one declares the relationship over. Divorce is imminent...

"Ripping through like..." - Why are they tearing our family apart.

"Raise your weapon..." - The child turns to her coloring book.

Second verse, we see the child as a teenager, a non-conformist trying to find her place in a world not built for her.

"Love your ego..." - The girls feelings about the state of society, and how the arts and musicians are forgotten...

"Raise your weapons..." - She finds other friends, those who are not afraid to speak out, those who have found their weapons, and are willing to invite her in. She's found her place.

Bridge - The girl has found her place, and she and her fellow friends "raise their weapons" of music and voice against those who have oppressed them.

For the rest of the song, the girl is fighting back against the world with her music and voice, and while the rest of the world crumbles, she finds peace now that she has found her inner weapon.

For the final piano outro, we see the same girl as an older woman, who is looking back at pictures from her college years. And as the last chord fades out, she walks into a music classroom, full of fresh new faces for that year...

Just my two cents! Hope you enjoy!

My Opinion:Guys, really. It's not about just a relationship, as far as I can tell. It's more about the power of love, and how it can really change you. The phrase "Raise your weapon" could mean finding love by showing what you've got. "Rippin' through like a missile, rippin' through my heart" could mean use the strength of love to change someone's REAL emotion, toward's whoever.

General Comment:It's obviously about a relationship. I see it as a break up. The action of breaking up. Dropping bombs, watching it burn- he's watching her burn, and tearing down all they've built.

It's really interesting actually, because in the original version I get the feeling of her (the singer?) giving up, while in the remix The girl is daring the boy to raise his weapon, as if it's war. Very Curious.

General Comment:This song is obviously about the situation the world is currently going through. No I'm not talking about mike the Situation ha ha ha...I know not funny.

Anyways, they are talking about how the elite of the world(bankers and rich families) whom control most of the economy and therefore the human population, are killing at will....All for their own prosperity, that's why she says "Love your ego, you won't feel a thing. Always number one. The pen with a bent wrist crooked king"

    She also says:

"The pen with a bent wrist crooked KING
Sign away OUR PEACE for YOUR WAR, one word and it's over"

    Then she says "
Dropping your bombs now. On all we've built. How does it feel now to watch it burn, burn, burn?"

She says the above as radically asking the "kings" aka the leaders of the world, how they feel about their actions and decisions being responsible for so many deaths.

General Comment:The futility of defense in the presence of one consumed by anger.

Basically saying if you so much as speak a word, I'll ignore you...so do it.

    Amazing song.

My Opinion:Actually, I feel the lyrics are using war as a metaphor for the breaking point in a relationship. As mentioned above, the weapons used in this seemingly one-sided war of words are fueled by anger and mistrust. The antagonist is assaulting the singer with words, "dropping [his] bombs now, on all [they've] built" and slowly "rippin' [her] heart" out. The singer at the end leaves one last scornful remark for her ex-lover; "How does it feel now to watch it burn, burn, burn?"

Kinda brings back to mind the phrase: "All's fair in love and war." Even if it really has nothing to do with the point of view of the lyrics.

Check out Madeon's Remix of this. Its really great for being done by a 16 year old!

General Comment:This song can seem like its about a relationship. but if you really pay attention to what is being said it sounds more to me like its about a war. Korean war maybe? I don't know.

"Love your ego, you won't feel a thing, always number one, the pen with a bent wrist crooked king, sign away our peace, for your war, one word and it's over. Dropping your bombs now, on all we've built, how does it feel now to watch it burn, burn, burn? Raise your weapons, raise your weapons... And it's over."

I really love this song though. can't stop listening to it.

General Comment:I definitely think "weapon" is words. This song is about someone whose anger is destroying a relationship. The singer wanted the relationship to work, but she's broken now and she's ready to give up with just one more angry word. At this point, she's actually encouraging him to bring it on, and reflecting on what he has destroyed.
