I heard that you're settled down
That you found a girl and you're married now
I heard that your dreams came true
Guess she gave you things, I didn't give to you
Old friend, why are you so shy?
Ain't like you to hold back or hide from the light
I hate to turn up out of the blue, uninvited
But I couldn't stay away, I couldn't fight it
I had hoped you'd see my face
And that you'd be reminded that for me, it isn't over
Never mind, I'll find someone like you
I wish nothing but the best for you, too
"Don't forget me," I beg
I remember you said
"Sometimes it lasts in love, but sometimes it hurts instead"
"Sometimes it lasts in love, but sometimes it hurts instead"
You know how the time flies
Only yesterday was the time of our lives
We were born and raised in a summer haze
Bound by the surprise of our glory days
I hate to turn up out of the blue, uninvited
But I couldn't stay away, I couldn't fight it
I had hoped you'd see my face
And that you'd be reminded that for me, it isn't over
Never mind, I'll find someone like you
I wish nothing but the best for you, too
"Don't forget me," I begged
I remember you said
"Sometimes it lasts in love, but sometimes it hurts instead"
Nothing compares, no worries or cares
Regrets and mistakes, they're memories made
Who would have known how bittersweet this would taste?
Never mind, I'll find someone like you
I wish nothing but the best for you
"Don't forget me," I beg
I remember you said
"Sometimes it lasts in love, but sometimes it hurts instead"
Never mind, I'll find someone like you

This sounds almost, and perhaps this isn't the word I want to use, stalker-ish. And I think it's more of a natural thing when people break up and one isn't ready for it to be over, so they show up and try to make their case. I get this from the part where she says "old friend, why are you so shy?..." He obviously isn't pumped to see her, because he's happy in a new relationship and probably doesn't want to deal with her making the case for a reunion. She says that she probably shouldn't have shown up like that, but she couldn't help it because she was so desperate. She loves him still, so wants him to be happy, but kind of wishes he could have been happy with her. And then to console herself, she says nevermind I'll find someone else like you, but that obviously isn't really a consolation or moving on because she wants that person, who is exactly like him. Her point that she's moved on doesn't really seem very valid. Love is just so complicated!
please keep the stalkerish word away from this!ha im sorry but every single love song interpretation today is interpreted by some1 as being stalkerish, guess what love makes us all do crazy things and i guess at some times in all our lives we have done stalkerish stuff
I think you can't say it's not stalkerish. It's right there in "I hate to turn up in the blue uninvited"
Well the first two lines say he's married and 'settled down' implies kids. This song definitely sounds stalkery. Then she tried to guilt him with 'I'd hoped you'd see my face; and that you'd be reminded that for me, it isn't over'. And when that fails she gets a bit huffy and says "Nevermind, I'll find someone like you" which sounds like 'I can't have you, so I'll find someone that looks and acts and sounds like you and pretend I'm getting pounded by you instead of them.

Imagine this poor man, having a nice evening with his family, then all of a sudden this crazy chick comes around trying to get back with him after years of not speaking. He's probably being 'shy' and 'holding back' because he's terrified that she's going to stab him or shoot him.
