I heard that you're settled down
That you found a girl and you're married now
I heard that your dreams came true
Guess she gave you things, I didn't give to you
Old friend, why are you so shy?
Ain't like you to hold back or hide from the light

I hate to turn up out of the blue, uninvited
But I couldn't stay away, I couldn't fight it
I had hoped you'd see my face
And that you'd be reminded that for me, it isn't over

Never mind, I'll find someone like you
I wish nothing but the best for you, too
"Don't forget me," I beg
I remember you said
"Sometimes it lasts in love, but sometimes it hurts instead"
"Sometimes it lasts in love, but sometimes it hurts instead"

You know how the time flies
Only yesterday was the time of our lives
We were born and raised in a summer haze
Bound by the surprise of our glory days

I hate to turn up out of the blue, uninvited
But I couldn't stay away, I couldn't fight it
I had hoped you'd see my face
And that you'd be reminded that for me, it isn't over

Never mind, I'll find someone like you
I wish nothing but the best for you, too
"Don't forget me," I begged
I remember you said
"Sometimes it lasts in love, but sometimes it hurts instead"

Nothing compares, no worries or cares
Regrets and mistakes, they're memories made
Who would have known how bittersweet this would taste?

Never mind, I'll find someone like you
I wish nothing but the best for you
"Don't forget me," I beg
I remember you said
"Sometimes it lasts in love, but sometimes it hurts instead"

Never mind, I'll find someone like you
I wish nothing but the best for you, too
"Don't forget me," I begged
I remember you said
"Sometimes it lasts in love, but sometimes it hurts instead"
"Sometimes it lasts in love, but sometimes it hurts instead"

To me, this songs means empowerment and finally telling yourself that you are able to move on.

Its about finding your ex and seeing that they have moved on, and you, being optimistic/stubborn/determined or what you want to call yourself, think you can convince them that you are still the one, only to realize that you are wrong.
And even though you realize you can't have them, you simply tell yourself and possibly them that its not impossible, but you'll find someone like them. Not specifically like them, but someone to share memories and moments with and to give you that remarkable sensation of love.

She's not wishing bad things upon her ex and his new love, she just wants him to remember their love, memories and what they shared.

Its quite beautiful. This song is truly a bittersweet goodbye.

This to me is about those years following the break up of a relationship that really, and truly changed you - you knew the person inside out, and feel an immense hole in your chest whenever you think of them. I'm not entirely convinced with the genuineness of the line "I wish nothing but the best for you too", it seems to be sung with such unnerving bitterness and heartache, and that would link to turning up, uninvited to let them know that you still love them, and that for you, it really isn't over.

In my opinion, this song comes from a vulnerable place; right at that moment when you find out that your ex has moved on, and you haven't. You begin to question why they have moved on, and why you are unable to, and get the real and painful feeling that actually you still love them.

It's beautiful, unnerving and bitter. Like break ups are.

    My Interpretation

    Great interpretation by cmquido!

To me this song describes perfectly the feeling that you get when you see someone you loved moving on and happy when you feel like you've ended up worse off. But obviously you're still somehow close and wouldn't wish anything bad upon them. And it seems the only way to be happy again is to find a replica of them that still won't quite match up.

I love the lines "You'd know how the time flies. Only yesterday was the time of our lives. We were born and raised in a summery haze. Bound by the surprise of our glory days." A great analogy of great, spontaneous summer romance.

    Memory

This song reminds me of an old friend of mine..we spent 10 years together, went through rough things like unrequited love, family problems, ...but none of this could tear us apart. It may sound kitschy and totally exaggerated for you, but I'm pretty sure he was kind of my soulmate. It feels like a hundred years since he's been gone, but it's only one year ago, that he left. What happened is really easy to summarize: he got a girlfriend, she was jealous and so she didn't like me..well, she hated me to be more precise. I never had a problem with her or with him being in a relationhip. I was so delighted for him, especially because he fell in love with me and I was afraid he would never get over it... First it seemed as if he wouldn't give a damn about what she thought of me, as if he still thought that our friendship is the most important thing. But suddenly he wasn't heard from again and after a little while he told me that she didn't want us to be friends anymore, otherwise she would leave him. So he chose his new little girlfriend and left me alone.

I was so upset, and still am, but I got the hang with it. Of course I think of him. I think of him very often, but I had to face the truth..he will never come back. He was my best friend, we had a great time, epic moments and share loads of memories. I'm happy when he's happy.

To cut a long story short..(it feels really good to get this of my chest...) this song...it's absolutely breathtaking, it means a lot to me. The lyrics are so true. I just have to say: Adele, you're a stunning woman, I adore you and your music. Keep it up and help us to deal with our little disasters.

This sounds almost, and perhaps this isn't the word I want to use, stalker-ish. And I think it's more of a natural thing when people break up and one isn't ready for it to be over, so they show up and try to make their case. I get this from the part where she says "old friend, why are you so shy?..." He obviously isn't pumped to see her, because he's happy in a new relationship and probably doesn't want to deal with her making the case for a reunion. She says that she probably shouldn't have shown up like that, but she couldn't help it because she was so desperate. She loves him still, so wants him to be happy, but kind of wishes he could have been happy with her. And then to console herself, she says nevermind I'll find someone else like you, but that obviously isn't really a consolation or moving on because she wants that person, who is exactly like him. Her point that she's moved on doesn't really seem very valid. Love is just so complicated!

I completely agree with alix2468. She's trying to get over him but so far she hadn't succeed. And she's confused, she really wants him to be happy, but at the same time she wants him not to forget her and to acknowledge her pain. That's the way I see it.

    Great song!

    My Interpretation

In my opinion, this song is all about love gone wrong, and not being able to let go.

This is a story of two people who had been best friends, possibly had tried to engage in a romantic relationship, too, at some point, but as years passed they've strayed away from each other. A clue for their estrangement is that she finds out from a third person ("I heard...") that he has settled down and gotten married. She visits him after all those years, to remind him that they were once friends, and that her feelings for him aren't gone. He's hesitant and shy, and seeing how happy he is with his life, she realizes that it's too late for them now. The past is gone and she'd best move on, even find someone else, although someone like him, a nice guy to settle down with. She wants him to be happy, even though it hurts her to know that it's not her he's happy with.

I think it's one of Adele's most passionate songs. You can feel it in her voice when she enters the chorus. "Nevermind, I'll find someone like you." It sounds like she's practically trying to keep herself from crying. I love how many emotions she can get through to the listener with her voice.

In the end, I think this song is about how love can built you up, and about how it can break you down when you can't let yourself let go of your feelings for a person who's already out of your reach. It's a beautiful song and I think most people can relate to the meaning it's trying to pass.

I see this song really differently to everyone else,

I see it as we have her (adele) and shes got a best friend, but her and the friend are secretly in love, but never mention it as they fear losing the friendship and fear the feelings not being mutual, adele gets into a relationship with someone else to try and stop herself feeling those feelings for her friend, but they dont stop, they get stronger, and in time the friend thinks that it is just never going to happen to trys to let go of the feelings and gets in a relationship with someone. Finally adele's relationship falls apart as she cant stop the feelings for her friend, she turns up (unexpectedly) to tell the friend she loves him and can't fight it anymore, but see's the friend is very happy in the relationship, as adele truly loves the friend, even though she is destroyed inside, she is happy that the friend is happy and doesnt reveal the truth, as she wants the friend to be happy. The song is like adele's thoughts as she walks away. She realises its too late, shes run out of time, and its something she'll regret for the rest of her life, every single day, but in the end she wishes the friend the best and thinks to herself 'ill find someone like you' knowing she won't but the hope that she can ever find someone as amazing as the friend

    My Interpretation

I just want to point out the other way the phrase "someone like you" can be taken. It doesn't necessarily mean that she wants to find someone similar to him. It's completely possible that she is saying that she'll find someone... to love and settle down with like he has.

The line that I always find a little perplexing is "Don't forget me, I beg. I'll remember you said, Sometimes it lasts in love but sometimes it hurts instead." I know most people's explanation is that love is great but sometimes it sucks. Okay, I see that. But I feel like it's worded a little strangely for that to make sense. What is "it"? Sometimes LOVE lasts in love? And I find it telling that directly before that, she's begging him not to forget her. That leads me to think maybe he's talking about memories, not love. Sometimes memories/the past is good to remember and hold onto, but sometimes memories just turn into baggage? Maybe he's telling her to just let go. Does anybody else see where I'm coming from here? Every time I hear that line, I wonder about it.

    Song Meaning

I WAS ONCE A FOOL TO IGNORE YOU AT TIMES, FOR NOT APPRECIATING YOUR WHOLE WITHOUT ANY CLUE OR ANY SIGN-- YOU FELT I DIDN'T LOVE YOU AT ALL.

IT TAKES TIME TO REALIZE IT TAKES DISTANCE TO CONCEIVE THAT BEHIND ALL THE LIES IN YOU AND ME, I STILL BELIEVE-- BUT TOO LATE TO BREAK THIS WALL.

I NEVER GIVE UP ON YOU EVEN IF YOU ALREADY HAVE A CHANGE OF HEART, I NEVER STOP LOVING YOU UNTIL THE TIME YOU FORGET MY PART.-- AND THE MOMENT THAT MY TEARS HAD FALL.

I WISH YOU HAPPINESS SO I DECIDED TO SET YOU FREE, FOR YOU TWO TO HAVE THE BEST EVEN IT BRINGS PAIN IN ME.-- I JUST HOPE SOMETIMES IN YOUR MIND I'D BE RECALL.

AT THE TIME WE'LL BE SEEING EACH OTHER AGAIN LET ME HOLD YOUR HAND FOR THE LAST TIME, WILL MAKE YOU KNOW AND UNDERSTAND YOU STAY HERE <3 FOR A LIFETIME.-- IN MY HEART WHERE YOU ALWAYS STALL.

BY TODAY I'LL START TO MEND THIS CRUSHED HEART OF MINE ACCEPT THE COLD HARSH TRUTH THAT WERE NOT MEANT FOR EACH OTHER, WILL WAIT FOR THE RIGHT TIME WAIT UNTIL MY HEART FIND THE ANSWER.-- WHEN IM READY TO BE ATTACH AGAIN AND FALL.

I'D ALWAYS BE A FRIEND, THAT'S A PROMISE ALWAYS BE HERE FOR YOU THOUGH YOU DONT NEED IT, CAUSE WITHOUT YOU MY WORLD WOULD CEASED I BEGGED YOU,REMEMBER ME EVEN A BIT.-- YOU'D STILL BE THE HALF OF MY SOUL.

    : ILOVEYOU, I ALWAYS DO...

This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/
