Elevator buttons and morning air,
Strangers silence makes me want to take the stairs,
If you were here we'd laugh about their vacant stares,
But right now,
My time is theirs.

Seems like there's always
Someone who disapproves,
They'll judge it like they know about me and you,
And the verdict comes from those with nothing else to do,
The jury's out,
And my choice is you.

So don't you worry your pretty little mind,
People throw rocks at things that shine,
And life makes love look hard,
The stakes are high,
The waters rough,
But this love is ours,

You never know what people have up their sleeves,
Ghosts from your past gonna jump out at me,
Lurking in the shadows with their lip gloss smiles,
But I don't care,
'Cause right now you're mine,
And you say,

So don't you worry your pretty little mind,
People throw rocks at things that shine,
And life makes love look hard,
The stakes are high,
The water's rough,
But this love is ours

And it's not theirs to speculate,
If it's wrong and,
Your hands are tough but they are where,
My belong in,
I'll fight their doubt and give you faith with this song for you.

'Cause I love the gap between your teeth,
And I love the riddles that you speak,
And any snide remarks from my father about your tattoos will be ignored,
'Cause my heart is yours.

So don't you worry your pretty little mind,
People throw rocks at things that shine,
And life makes love look hard,

And don't you worry your pretty little mind,
People throw rocks at things that shine,
But they can't take what's ours,
They can't take what's ours,
The stakes are high,
The water's rough,
But this love is ours.

My Interpretation:I love this song. It actually lets you reminisce the hardships even though there are people who are acting as obstacles in your way.

This song, in my interpretation, is about a relationship undergoing obstacles who actually go in their path. For instance,

"Elevator buttons and morning air, stranger silence makes me wanna take the stairs"
    - stranger here could mean to people who are in the way of their relationship. The line says that it's better to avoid making contact with them.

"Seems like there's always someone who disapproves, they'll judge it like they know about me and you"
    - Line means there's someone who is disapproving of their relationship, and make stories and judge it as if you and him/her were close friends.

"And the verdict comes from those with nothing else to do. The jury's out, but my choice is you"
    - Self explanatory. Verdict is a final judgement made from crimes. The verdict here is that anyone knows about that fake judgement someone made. But still, she still love and choose to be with him despite these negatives.

"You never know what people have up their sleeves. Ghosts from your past gonna jump down at me.
    - Line 1 suggests that because of anyone knowing that fake judgement, you can never know who you are gonna trust now. Ghosts from your past suggest the exes the boy had and they're ruining her.

"Lurking in the shadows with their lipgloss smiles, but I don't care, 'cause right now your mine."
    - This is also self explanatory. If you're a girl, you could actually sense some other gals who are jealous of you and try to backstab you. But what's really important right now is you got the boy you want.

Memory:This makes me think of two months ago, when I thought some guy liked me. I thought we'd be forever because we were always making each other laugh and this song just totally described us. I guess he was kind of popular because these two girls who were popular kept laughing because he was sitting near me in ELA and it was his choice<3 It was the only time I was alright. It turned out one of those girls did like him, he didn't like her though.
I don't know now, but it's either me or this other girl who's blonde (but so am I), and pretty and wears a ton of makeup and high heels. The point is I'll always have a Taylor Swift song to relate too because she's been through it all. So it's either this one or You Belong With Me between me and him.

General Comment:This is the sixth single from Taylor Swift's third studio album Speak Now. The song was taken from the Deluxe edition of the LP and released as a promotional single for digital download to iTunes and Amazon on November 8, 2011. Taylor performed the song at the 2011 Country Music Association Awards the following evening.

The song finds Taylor in a relationship of which others do not approve. She reassures her beau that despite the criticism they are getting, she loves him. Possible clues in the lyrics as to the identity of the person she is singing of include:
    1) "I love the gap between your teeth" (Toby Hemingway from the "Mine" video fits that description)
    2) "Any snide remarks from my father about your tattoos will be ignored" (John Mayer's entire left arm is covered in a sleeve tattoo, and his body is sprinkled with assorted other inked creations).

The song was written solely by Swift, who also manned the boards along with her usual producer Nathan Chapman. The Nashville knob twiddler has also worked with Shania Twain, Lauren Alaina and Laura Bell Bundy amongst others.

The video was directed by Declan Whitebloom, who was also responsible for Swift's "Mean." It finds the singer as a frumpy-dressed office worker getting through a difficult day by watching various videos of herself and her boyfriend who is played by Zach Gilford. The actor is best known for his role as Matt Saracen on the NBC television drama series Friday Night Lights.

Speaking with E! News, Whitebloom explained Swift had a definite idea for the visual. "When Taylor says, 'I've got an idea,' you listen to what she's gonna say," he said. "And so I did, and it was a great idea - and I loved it!"

Taylor is seen wearing gray knee-length skirt and gym sneakers with unkempt hair and no make up in the clip. In the "making of" film chronicling the video, she described her look as, "corporate not chic." The Country superstar added: "I told Declan [Whitebloom] I really don't want this to be something where it looks like it's trying to be a cute music video as far as, like, fashion sense. I didn't want it to be anything fashionable or anything you would aspire to."

Any of you spot a wallpaper picture of a tiny cat on Swift's work computer in the video? That's her own kitten, Meredith, who Taylor named after Ellen Pompeo's character on Grey's Anatomy.

This became Taylor's sixth country chart-topper when the song stepped 3-1 in its 17th chart week.

My Interpretation:I also initially thought this song was about gay marriage when I first heard it. Especially the parts where "people throw stones" (I thought this was a reference to perceived anti-gay prejudices) and especially "My CHOICE is you" like besides choosing the partner, the song is about how the narrator in the song chooses the gay lifestyle despite what others think. However this theory went out the window when I saw the video to the song. Which is a great funny cute video. Funny cause some critics who didn't listen to her previous album carefully thought "Change" was about Obama and written to support Obama even though its really about her own life and career. To think of it, Taylor is country, even if not as country as she once was and you don't support Obama or support gay marriage in country music its just not done and just not smart. I am glad that Taylor doesn't support Obama or gay marriage, or if she does as least is private about it.

General Comment:This song was probably written about John Mayer, because he has a gap between his bottom teeth and he speaks in riddles. Apparently.

I wonder if she sang this song to him, and then he went and broke her heart? Which may be where Dear John came from...

Anyway, John has a few tattoos too, and everyone though that Taylor was crazy because she was dating someone who was several years older than her. It is also said that she lost her virginity to him, even though this hasn't been confirmed. When the line, "And life makes love look hard." comes in, i expect that everyone was telling Taylor that the relationship was not going to work out, but it was working for her, and she wanted to get that clear.

At her Speak Now concert, she said something similar to the following...
"When you begin dating someone, most people will usually tell you exactly how they feel about the relationship. They may disapprove, and they'll definitely make that clear to you. I tend to write a lot of songs about love, but this song i actually wrote for SOMEONE who had lots of tattoos and a gap in his teeth. *song starts*"

See where i get the slight idea of Taylor singing it to John before he went and broke her heart?

General Comment:excellent song about how people try to come in between everyone else's relationships. think about it, we always wanna interrupt two people and sometimes they just think its enough. if two people are happy, no one else should try to ruin that.

General Comment:For some reason this reminds me of Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez. These Lines:

Seems like there's always someone who disapproves
They'll judge it like they know about me and you
And the verdict comes from those with nothing else to do
The jury's out but my choice is you

(Everyone disapproves of thier relationship, and they judge it. Even after all that Selena chose Justin.)

So don't you worry your pretty little mind

People throw rocks at things that shine

(Selena shouldn't worry, people are insulting them because they're having fun)

You never know what people have up their sleeves
Ghosts from your past gonna jump out at me
Lurking in the shadows with their lip gloss smiles
But I don't care 'cause right now you're mine

    (The Beliebers bother her)

General Comment:John Mayer again?? Hence why it didn't make the album - she was proved wrong, everyone told her to stay away but she didn't and I suspect she wrote this song about it, believing that it would last. A fantastic song nevertheless :D we all make mistakes

My Interpretation:I think this song is about a relationship that people are constantly judging, for any reason. Whether it be heterosexual or homosexual, people are saying that this relationship is wrong. I can completely relate, considering the fact that I am currently involved with a person of a different religion. People are always judging these people and saying that their love isn't right.
