There I was again tonight forcing laughter, faking smiles
Same old tired, lonely place
Walls of insincerity
Shifting eyes and vacancy vanished when I saw your face
All I can say is it was enchanting to meet you

Your eyes whispered "have we met?"
Across the room your silhouette starts to make it's way to me
The playful conversation starts
Counter all your quick remarks, like passing notes in secrecy
And it was enchanting to meet you
All I can say is I was enchanted to meet you

This night is sparkling, don't you let it go
I'm wonder struck, blushing all the way home
I'll spend forever wondering if you knew
I was enchanted to meet you

The lingering question kept me up
Two a.m., who do you love?
I wonder till I'm wide awake
Now I'm pacing back and forth, wishing you were at my door
I'd open up and you would say, hey
It was enchanting to meet you
All I know is I was, enchanted to meet you

This night is sparkling, don't you let it go
I'm wonder struck, blushing all the way home
I'll spend forever wondering if you knew
This night is flawless, don't you let it go
I'm wonder struck, dancing around all alone
I'll spend forever wondering if you knew
I was enchanted to meet you

This is me praying that this was the very first page
Not where the story line ends
My thoughts will echo your name, until I see you again
These are the words I held back, as I was leaving too soon
I was enchanted to meet you
Please don't be in love with someone else
Please don't have somebody waiting on you
Please don't be in love with someone else
Please don't have somebody waiting on you

This night is sparkling, don't you let it go
I'm wonder struck, blushing all the way home
I'll spend forever wondering if you knew
This night is flawless, don't you let it go
I'm wonder struck, dancing around all alone
I'll spend forever wondering if you knew
I was enchanted to meet you

Please don't be in love with someone else
Please don't have somebody waiting on you

General Comment:This song finds Taylor singing about meeting a guy she's attracted to without knowing if her instant infatuation is at all reciprocated. "That song is about pining away for if you're ever going to see someone again-walking away too early," she explained to Chris Willman of Yahoo! Music: "It was about this guy that I met in New York City, and I had talked to him on email or something before, but I had never met him. And meeting him, it was this overwhelming feeling of: I really hope that you're not in love with somebody. And the whole entire way home, I remember the glittery New York City buildings passing by, and then just sitting there thinking, am I ever going to talk to this person again? And that pining away for a romance that may never even happen, but all you have is this hope that it could, and the fear that it never will.
I started writing that in the hotel room when I got back. Because it just was this positive, wistful feeling of: I hope you understand just how much I loved meeting you. I hope that you know that meeting you was not something that I took lightly, or just in passing. And I think my favorite part of that song is the part where, in the bridge, it goes to sort of a stream of consciousness of 'Please don't be in love with someone else/Please don't have somebody waiting on you.' Because at that moment, that's exactly what my thoughts were. And it feels good to write exactly what your thoughts were in a certain moment."

The guy in question had yet to hear the song at the time of Willman's interview. However, Taylor added that she expects him to recognize that it's about their brief encounter when he does hear it as she threw in a certain word to give him a clue. "Using the word 'wonderstruck' was done on purpose," she explained (referring to the line "I'm wonderstruck, blushing all the way home"). Because that's a word which that person used one time in an email. And I don't think I've ever heard anybody use that term before, so I purposely wrote it in the song, so he would know."

Speak Now was not the original album title as at one point this song was going to be the title track. Executive producer Scott Borchetta told Billboard magazine: "We were at lunch, and she had played me a bunch of the new songs. I looked at her and I'm like, 'Taylor, this record isn't about fairy tales and high school anymore. That's not where you're at. I don't think the record should be called "Enchanted.'"

The song describes Taylor's unrealized crush on Owl City's Adam Young and any lingering doubt about the mystery man's identity were removed when Young responded to the Country star's public serenade on his website. Addressing the singer in a 2011 Valentine's Day missive, he confessed that he too felt sparks fly when they first met. "You are a true princess from a dreamy fairy tale, and above all, I just want you to know," he wrote. "I was enchanted to meet you too." Adam also attached his own version of "Enchanted" featuring a new verse at the end, which was a direct response to Taylor's original lyrics.

Not many songs can boast of having a perfume called after them, but this one does. Taylor teamed up with beauty company Elizabeth Arden for a scent called Wonderstruck, which is named after a line in this tune. "I wrote the lyric, 'I'm wonderstruck, blushing all the way home,' for the song 'Enchanted' about the first time you meet someone," said the singer. "A fragrance can help shape someone's first impression and memory of you. It's exciting to think that Wonderstruck will play a role in creating some of those memories."

In this instance the perfume was named after the song. However, Avril Lavigne penned a track for her Goodbye Lullaby album, which was titled after her already existing Black Star fragrance.

General Comment:This song is absolutley BEAUTIFUL! i love it so much. It makes me think about how much a person can really mean to you. How you stay up all night thinking about them and wondering if they think about you and how you don't want them to be in love with someone else because you know you two are meant to be together. It makes me think of that special someone who i hope to be with someday soon.

General Comment:I love how i can feel like the magic in this song. Listening to it makes me feel so "wonderstruck". It makes me feel the same magic, excitement, wonderstruckness you feel when you just met someone and there's this deep connection between you both and you just can't stop thinking about him, you just wish you could see him again cause this was really special. But you are not sure if you are going to see/talk to him again so you just, at least, want to let thim know that you were enchanted to met him. and though you know there could be something between you both cause of this deep conection you're not really sure if you are going to see him again. so you are just there wishing this was the beginning of your perfect love story

General Comment:I do believe that this song was written about Adam Young from Owl City. many people are asking where this has come from, but i recently read an article about how he felt when he met Taylor Swift.

Adam states that he met Taylor backstage at one of his concerts. He quoted, "Its hard to put it into words, but i guess i was wonderstruck."
The pair soon became friends and they emailed for a few months. Adam seemed to use the words, "Enchanted" and "Wonderstruck" a lot, and Taylor did point it out to him in the emails. She had never heard of a man saying that before, and she was immediately fascinated. This is probably why this song repeats the word Enchanted a lot.

When i first heard the song, I believed that it was when a person dated another for a very short time. I thought that Taylor had met someone and only known him for a short time, before calling it quits. Maybe she was saying sorry in this song? (These are the words I held back, as I was leaving too soon)
However, she must have felt a little something when she met Adam, and I now see that she probably wants him to wait for them to meet again, rather than going on and dating another person.

Hope this is now a little more clear to some people. Sorry for typos lol

General Comment:I think that this song is about that love at first sight moment. It's about meeting someone you connect with instantly and not wanting the night to end because it has been so perfect. Then when you get home you spend hours wondering whether or not they like you or if they like someone else. You hold on waiting for then because you think that its like destiny for yous to be together and its all you can think of. Its enchanting <3

General Comment:From personal experience, an encounter like this is both fairy-tale material and infuriating! I have experienced this and it is amazing but annoying because you don't know if you'll ever see them again.
So yeah, I definitely can relate! I only heard this song earlier today and I think it sums up exactly how I feel.
And yeah, it was enchanting to meet him!

General Comment:Not everyone, but a lot of people are thinking "How in the world is this about Adam Young?" I don't know everything but i do know that they are quite fond of eachother and the song pretty much tells the story if you listen to it. But anyway, on valentine's he wrote a revised version and sent it to her. Telling her that he was never in love with anyone else and how he is truly flattered by her song. He had a note attached, saying: "Everything about you is beautiful. You're an immensely charming girl with a wonderful heart and more grace and elegance than I know how to describe. You are a true princess from a dreamy fairy tale; a modern Cinderella. I'm terribly sorry it's taken me such a long time to reply but I figured Valentine's Day was the perfect time to write this note to you and simply say...I was enchanted to meet you too. Love, Adam" So that's that. i think they're a cute couple. i also love how at the third round of the chorus, if you listen closely, you can hear "please don't be in love with someone else...." it's very faint with the power of the chorus, but you can hear it if you try. i love songs with two or three parts. love them.

General Comment:Ahhhhhhhh. As a fan of both singers...tears. Every time ;) And why, after all Adam did to answer Taylor, did she do nothing? Sooo beautiful.

Song Meaning:I agree that this song is about Adam Young. If you look up Adam Young Enchanted you can listen to the cover of this song he did, which says:
"Oh Taylor I was so enchanted to meet you too This night is sparkling, don’t you let it go I’m wonderstruck, blushing all the way home I’ll spend forever wondering if you knew I was enchanted to meet you too, I was never in love with someone else I never had somebody waiting on me ‘Cause you were all of my dreams come true And I just wish you knew Taylor I was so in love with you."
So, uh I accidently stumbled across that cover and I put two and two together. It seems to me that Taylor and Adam might be in desperate need of a conversation with each other. xD
