We both sat, on our beds, in my room.
And we talked about what was coming soon.
All the pink powder wont cover up what we did.
Doing wrong when, we were just kids.

And I think that you're the older brother,
that I never had.
I wish I could reach out and touch you.
Dont worry, i'm not sad.
I know you're just where you want to be,
and everyone's a hundred grand.
Save some space for me,
and say hello to your dad.

I will look after your sister I swear.
I'll write her when she's lonely, and send it off in the air.
I will keep her safe, until i'm dead.
She'll always have a place to rest her head.
You dont have to worry about it now,
you dont have to live with that frown.
I will hold your memory close to my chest,
though I wish you hadn't said it was best.
Could you have stayed just one more night,
for all of us to say good bye.
But i'll love your troubles and i'm gone,
you still feel so damn warm.

General Comment:The first line is actually "We both sat, on our beds, in the room," no ownership of the room and two beds means its probably in a hotel. Pink Powder could refer to amphetamines, which can be pink. Don't think the characters in the song did anything too wrong as one makes it out of that room, unfortunately a tough life catches up with the other and he overdoses. They probably talked about suicide and that's why the survivor is OK with everything.
I like the "everyone's a hundred grand" line. I like to think it was their little joke about how the only thing their friends care about is making a hundred grand, but they were positive there was something better out there.
I had to listen to this song 100 times in a row just to get bored of it and stop crying. Some exec at McDonald's has huge stones for running this song with that ad, but it works.

General Comment:This song, I believe, is a call out to a friend who committed suicide. As saddening as suicide is, this song makes it almost a positive experience. It is a reassurance and a promise to his friend that is all ok even with him gone. "I know your just where you want to be" and "But I love your troubles are now gone" are such incredibly unselfish lyrics, shows true compassion of the person experiencing a friend's suicide.

For me this song shows the utterly generous heart of the person who wrote this song. Knowing a person close to me who committed suicide, I viewed it as a completely selfish act. This song opened my eyes to a different chain of thoughts. Death is a part of life: make celebration of the person's life.

    General Comment:The words are actually
    "Save some room for me
And say hello to your dad"
not "Say you won't stay for me"

And "But I'll love your troubles I'm not gone."
    not "And I'm gone"

I think it's about two friends that obviously did something wrong. And one either died later, or committed suicide. Like the line "Say hello to your dad", as in the boy who died had a father who is also dead.
And "You dont have to worry about it now
you don't have to live with that frown", he doesn't need to be sad anymore because he is gone.

Really, I think all the lines give the allusion of someone close to another dying.

General Comment:I see it as a song about a best friend who has died. A friend who was like an older brother, but couldn't "stay just one more night". Although personally that's a tad morbid for my liking, as I really adore this song and dont think it's overly depressed...which is why he says 'dont worry i'm not sad' i suppose. Still, great song.
Not sure if i got the lyrics right, thoughts?

General Comment:this oscillates between types of love to me. like it's obviously sibling-related, but then parts of it sound more like a romantic relationship.
