Runaway

As with most lyrics, and poems. This is about love being lost. The man (or woman) is completely devoted to the life that he has made with his love. It's important to know, that with this and most songs, it's has a timeline, days, weeks, maybe months. However we hear the steps that his life is taking. Some key quotes "What am I supposed to do to get by? Did I lose everything I need to survive?" he implies that he is lost in her, and scared to face to open cold world without her, slightly implying it may lead to his demise. Slightly further in the timeline another instance is made "'cause its 4AM and the sweat sets in...Did you get my message, did it send? Or did you just get on with your life?". The character is obviously sleepless, attempting (futily) to contact her. He rationalizes in sorrowful sarcasm "or did you just get on with your life?". The character obviously implies, the worst, he is forgotten, and un-needed.

Further down the time line, the character finds her clothes. We learn more about the relationship in this statement "What am I supposed to do with these clothes? It's my twisted way of keep you close." The lovers were more than just "loving", probably a couple, with a decent length and solid history, perhaps evolving from a friendship. Probably co-habitating, for a long period of time. We are able to rule out a "hook-up" only because most flings do not tend to have such passion and devotion. He obviously at one point recieved love from the other party. "twisted way of keeping you close" we again get a mental picture of the character and can come to a conclusion that he is indeed still needing her to 'survive'. Even uses object of her to satisfy his lonely feeling and uses them to remember her. At the end again with the question "did you get my message, did it send?" he again attempts to contact her to no avail. The characters battle for attention seems futile.

Further down the time line he meets his love. This is however a mutual meeting, maybe a coffee shop, or restraunt. "And it breaks me down when I see your face. You look so different but you feel the same" he was able to touch her. She has apparently changed her physical look, or this is much further down the timeline (old age has set in). The present tense in "it breaks me down when I see your face" you can see that he continues to see her, or maybe both parties are friends. "And I do not understand, I cannot comprehend the chills your body sends, why did it have to end?" he is still madly in love with her. The breakup haunts his dreams, and continues to drag him down through hours awake.

This next part is clearly a vague interpretation. "I'm taking time to thinking I. Don't think it's fair for us to Turn around and say goodbye .I have this feeling that I. Finally find the words to say, But I can't tell you if you turn around and run away." it's extremely I'm portage to notice the repetitive, almost stutter like behavior. He's says I (or a form of) 5 times. There is never one instance where he is admiring to communication about how he felt about the break up, and how he wants her back. We are misled through him sending messages. But he's not sending what he wants to say. This is why our character hurts so bad. Because he is unable, possibly out of sheer fear, to tell his love what he feels, the deep dark need he has, the need her in his life. Even if he stays friends with the other party, she will always be running away. She's not literally turning her back on him anymore, he just doesn't know how to put the words together, so all of their conversations end. Its almost like he wants her to stand there and wait, forever.

If you have something to say, you must say it. "fear of failure, will always keep you from victory".

I think his love leaves him for an uncertain reason, he is desperately trying to buy her attention in any means necessary and so he says "I don't think it's fair for us to turn around and say goodbye" and she ignores him, so his life is torn between her and staying afloat
