Am I better off dead?
Am I better off a quitter?
They say I'm better off now
Then I ever was with her
As they take me to my local down the street
I'm smiling but I'm dying trying not to drag my feet

They say a few drinks will help me to forget her
But after one too many I know that I'm never
Only they can see where this is gonna end
But they all think I'm crazy but to me it's perfect sense

[Chorus]
And my mates are all there trying to calm me down
'Cause I'm shouting your name all over the town
I'm swearing if I go there now
I can change her mind turn it all around
And I know that I'm drunk but I'll say the words
And she'll listen this time even though they're slurred
Dialed her number and confessed to her
I'm still in love but all I heard
Was nothing

So I stumble there, along the railings and the fences
I know if I faced her face, that she'll come to her senses
Every drunk step I take leads me to her door
If she sees how much I'm hurting, she'll take me back for sure

[Chorus]

She said nothing
Oh, I wanted words but all I heard was nothing
Oh, I got nothing
Oh, I got nothing
Oh, I wanted words but all I heard was nothing

Oh, sometimes love's intoxicating
Oh, you're coming down, your hands are shaking
When you realize there's no one waiting

Am I better off dead?
Am I better off a quitter?
They say I'm better off now
Than I ever was with her

[Chorus]

She said nothing
Oh, I wanted words but all I heard was nothing
Oh, I got nothing
I got nothing
I wanted words but all I heard was nothing
Oh I got nothing

I got nothing
I got nothing
I got nothing

General Comment:This is about the person who was abandoned on a relationship and he is grieving her leaving him.. Anybody who has been dumped can relate. I think she left him for someone else and that is why when a heart breaks it don't break even.. She is going on with her life and he is falling to pieces

General Comment:Oh boy can I relate!

My girlfriend and I broke up 1 1/2 month ago and I feel just like the lead singer in this song.
I miss her and I still love her. When I get drunk it only makes it worse.
I feel like screaming her name in the street and drunk dial her.
If only one more chance to talk to her, I would tell her I love her and convince her that we can make it work.
In the afternoon, when I wake hungover and she's not by my side, the loneliness sets in and I feel like drowning myself,
instead of just drowning my sorrows.

General Comment:I have to admit, I quite enjoy this song. I've always liked the script, but they tend to get overplayed which kills it for me usually.

However, this rings true in its simplicity. If you're here reading this .. then you've probably been in that terrible post breakup place where you're friends take you out to make you "forget." But eventually you reach a point where the alcohol does nothing but make you realize how hurt you are and you attempt to call that person up. You're convinced you can change their mind, you pour your heart out, and they don't respond with anything. You then proceed to be that drunk mess parading around the bars to which your friends exchange "knowing" looks regarding.

Depending on the severity of the breakup, you eventually stop trying to numb the pain. Whether it takes 5 or 50000 drinks, you'll realize that the only thing that numbs it is space and time.

General Comment:I really do love this song and album in general. But the part that really gets me is the part where he sings
    "Oh sometimes love's intoxicating
Oh you're coming down your hands are shaking
When you realise there's no one waiting"

Because that moment when you realize that you've truly lost the person you love is the most painful. Whatever he had with his ex is ended, and that one moment when he realizes it is terrifying.

    General Comment:Every time I hear
    "She said nothing
Oh i wanted words but all I heard was nothing
Oh i got nothing, I got nothing"

I get goosebumps. It makes me wanna cry as if i'm feeling that way. It's like expecting the least you could from the person you loved so much and... nothing...
