  General Comment:I think that Gaga is trying to illustrate that religion can coexist with whoever and whatever you are and choose to be. I see it as specifically addressing the issue of homosexuality in America today, using direct and indirect language to support anyone who feels ashamed for being who they are. For example, she says "don't be a drag, just be a queen"-- referring to drag-queens, telling them just to be queens and not draggy, a negative connotation towards the population. Perhaps she wrote the song to emphasize the needed support for gay equality (and virtually equality for all) and to show that anyone who is different has support against bullying, abuse, and injustice.

  My Interpretation:This song is merely a celebration of being "you", regardless of who or what you are.
  
  Just because there is the mention of "God" does not mean the song is in any way religious or slanderous towards any faction. The fact that so many of you feel the need to come on here and force your beliefs down others throats is disgusting. This is a forum for discussing the meanings of songs, not flame wars or the spread of your pathetic, ignorant hate.

  General Comment:some people just make to much out of this. This song is about loving yourself for who you are and not changing for someone else. Its about how you can do whatever and God will always love you for who you are. You guys are digging a little too deep i think.

  General Comment:Christians derives from the word Christ, meaning followers of Christ. Christians are a group of people who choose to follow Christ (It involves serving him and keeping his commandments). Lady gaga contradicts that. I am judging her or anyone, but it is clear that Lady gaga and others would rather follow their thoughts.
  Marriage is the formal union of a man and a woman. Marriage is a religious ceremony. So those who choose to rebel and disagree with religion have all their rights but then they can't blame religious people for not accepting their divided ideas! What I am saying is that it is plain in the bible what Christianity is about. Christians aren't against gays.... Christians are a group of people who support their beliefs and it is not okay to bend the rules, because it is not people making the rules but following the rules of Christ. AS SIMPLE AS THAT.
  Those who don't want to accept religions and beliefs have the right to do what they like, and should respect those who want to be religious and respect their beliefs even the fact that marriage is a religious ceremony, this is what Christians have been trying to protect! You can't choose one side and try a bit of the other it doesn't work that way. Be on one side and be happy with it!

  General Comment:To those who were wondering what it means beware of false prophets, there is an example there!
  Yes, there are different people on earth, and yes, it's wrong to attack people for who they are. But taking it to the extreme and being provocative, and slowly letting other stuff in, like "Let's blame the Christians, religions are idiots...." is to me leading people astray. We have to be careful recognizing the subtle things that creep in.

  General Comment:It suits gaga to sing this, because she's bisexual.
  No one's born gay or bisexual! It's possible to be attracted by same sex.... but that comes to the environment, or things we go through, possibly a bad experience with a girlfriend/boyfriend, childhood trauma...
  The reality is that it's not natural. The amount of gay/ bisexuals that suffer depressions and try to commit suicide is unbelievably sad. What they don't realize is that they won't get better until they overcome that. So gaga is wrong.

  My Interpretation:The first line means that it doesn't matter if you love God (religious people often capitalize the H in "him" when they are referring to God or Jesus) or a guy (guys loving guys.) She's saying that you can still be homosexual and be religious. "You were born this way" means that homosexuals/bisexual etc. were born that way and they can't help it like some people believe. It also goes on to address other things other than homosexual/bisexual people...your religion, your beliefs, your skin color, etc. She says that no matter what people say or believe about you, just love yourself for you who are and don't try to be anyone else. We all have the same D.N.A because we are humans, she is saying don't judge people. After this song was released, I've had major respect for Gaga. This is a great song with a great meaning unlike some of the songs on the radio today, so kudos to her!
