I thought of "Beautiful" when I first heard it too. The part that sounds like Madonna to me is the section where she sings: "Oh, there ain't no other way /<br /> Baby, I was born this way..." and the "hey hey heys" but I don't think it's a bad thing. The list of songs that sound alike is endless.

Her extensive religious references is purely sociological. Lady Gaga clearly has a bone to pick with the idea that homosexuality is a sin. It clearly is not. It appears that Lady Gaga believes so and assures that God made a gay man perfect just the way he is. <br /> <br /> I think it's clear that this issue is going to be pressed and honestly it scares me. @rowkem: I definitely heard it as "Him", not "HIM" -- I suppose we'll likely find out when she releases the album, assuming there are lyrics in the booklet. I do disagree that she shouldn't have mentioned God at all, though. I don't personally believe in God either, but I see that less as calling out the evangelicals and more as assuring the people who are put down by said evangelicals and told there's something wrong with them. Evangelicals will be evangelicals, but I think her message is that you shouldn't feel like there's something wrong with you.<br /> <br /> I agree on the quality of the song, too. It isn't her best work, and the lyrics aren't complicated at all, but they're good for a pick-me-up and there's a nice beat to it, and hopefully the rest of the album will surpass it. If "You and I" is any indicator, it seems that it certainly could.<br /> <br /> @Clockmarks: Orient isn't necessarily a racial slur, but it's considered politically incorrect. From what I can gather, it's because you're only supposed to refer to inanimate objects as that, but I don't fully understand the reasoning.<br /> <br /> I don't really see the huge issue with it, though. Especially considering that the message of the song is that you're perfect just the way you are, it clearly isn't supposed to be derogatory.

I interpreted "it doesn't matter if you love him or capital H-I-M" / "a different lover is not a sin" as a comment on religious tolerance. Him/a different lover being a god of any other religion or capital H-I-M, the Christian god.

I agree. Quite frankly I believe it is a great honor to be told you sound like Madonna. I would imagine the Gaga, though she may not admit it, takes pride in this.

I hope you know that Lady GaGa herself is a knockoff of Madonna, trying to gain fame with shock value rather than talent or (ironically) being herself.
