  My Interpretation:Wow, I see this entirely different from the other people commenting on this song, except for the second one, at least partially... I don't think it's about an abusive relationship, or a relationship that isn't working, at all.
  
  I interpret this as one of those relationships that catch you a bit off guard. Maybe you've been used to being with someone laid back, someone that maybe takes things a bit seriously, moving slow and being thorough. And at some point that ends, and the next person you meet is the exact opposite. It's fast, it's intense, it's new and it's "go go go", no time to think, just feel and do.
  
  The part about roughing up and hurting I take more figurative than literal, like getting your hair ruffled or being exhausted, maybe getting in a bit too deep when you realise that the other person isn't as serious as you are, because you are used to being serious. This part can also be interpreted sexually.
  
  The bottom line seems to me to be "This is going so fast, such a whirlwind, I don't know where my next step will take me but I want to see, I don't want this to stop, baby don't stop."

  My Interpretation:Wow. Either my mind is really dark or I'm just over thinking this song.
  
  I took the lyrics quite literally, thinking it was about an abusive relationship. As an example, there would be a couple and the boyfriend is abusive and John would be telling the story from the girl's POV.

  General Comment:I feel that this song is a reflection about experiencing hard times with someone, but in the end you know that it can never ever get to you because just having and loving him/her is way more satisfying to you and you would not trade it in for a second. It is an easy expression about how genuine someone can feel without having such high expectations like society today sometimes evokes on relationships.
  
  That's basically what The Maine is in one word, genuine.

  General Comment:Haha, that's true; there aren't that many different lines in this song.
  But I think that's what makes it so sweet.
  I think this song's about a girl that's a little too much for him to handle, but he doesn't mind one bit.
  This is one of my favorites!
