if I believed in god I would not have done the things you’ve done
because you were only half willing to follow the son
you take our homes but your framework doesn’t hold
against the feet of us giants
you’ve been alone and you’re singing to the sun
cause you know you’re on your own and you’re going home
like an animal burying its bones
but leaving fingerprints on the walls inside my home
but if we’re so different then why did we start this?
you take our homes but your framework doesn’t hold
against the feet of us giants
you’ve been alone and you’re singing to the sun
cause you know you’re on your own and you’re going home
you can hide it if you want to but everybody knows it’s true
buried everything you knew but they won’t keep a thing from you
because you were only half willing to follow the son
you take our homes but your framework doesn’t hold
against the feet of us giants
you’ve been alone and you’re singing to the sun
cause you know you’re on your own and you’re going home
like an animal burying its bones
but leaving fingerprints on the walls inside my home
but if we’re so different then why did we start this?
you take our homes but your framework doesn’t hold
against the feet of us giants
you’ve been alone and you’re singing to the sun
cause you know you’re on your own and you’re going home
you can hide it if you want to but everybody knows it’s true
buried everything you knew but they won’t keep a thing from you

specifically they lie about their beliefs?? maybe to themselves or their parents/community to be more accepted
"you were only half willing to follow the son" saying the person is hesitant to follow their religion
"but if we’re so different then why did we start this?" the one saying this isn't religious so they're rhetorically asking why they started this if they really were as different as they claimed to be in their views
"you’ve been alone and you’re singing to the sun cause you know you’re on your own" the person deep down thinks that god doesn't exist though of course like i said they lied? about it
maybe
or just lying in general like "your framework doesn’t hold against the feet of us giants" could be a way of saying they see through this person's lies and like the lies won't work on them because they see past the bull shit
and the last part of the lyrics could fit that too
idk it's a long shot but it's just an idea to work with i felt like i had something then i just kinda lost it, i wish i knew what this song really meant
also sounds a little like the speaker is possibly atheist and being sort of critical of the other person's religious beliefs (possibly christian?) in general. lines like "your framework doesn't hold" and "you're singing to the sun" sounds kind of like they're saying "your beliefs are illogical/they don't hold up" and "you're praying to nothing/praying in vain"
"like an animal burying its bones" sounds like someone trying to hide their past..."but leaving fingerprints on the walls inside my home", so while the person is trying to hide the past, the other one on the relationship can't forget
