Seeing everyone's true face
Makes me wish they would keep their masks on.
Cause I don't want to know
Who you really are
I thought you would've learned your lesson by now.

True face exposed
Dark motives in the light
Was listening too scary for you?
You haven't changed, you never will.
You never will

You and I will never be the same
You said you tried, but you never changed.
You can hide and say you're not to blame
I thought you would've learned your lesson by now.

I was wrong
Something in me still has hope for you
I don't know why
Everyone is not as good as they seem
Trust in me, trust in me

I never knew
That lying came so natural to you
Cause I can barely see
The man you're gonna be
I thought you would've learned your lesson by now
You and I will never be the same
You said you tried, but you never changed.
You can hide and say you're not to blame
I thought you would've learned your lesson by now.
You and I will never be the same
You said you tried, but you never changed.
You can hide and say you're not to blame
I thought you would've learned your lesson by now.

General Comment:straight from the AP article on the track by track of the album:

"This song is one of my personal favorites on the album. I like that it has an eerie overtone to it. The title is a familiar excuse we've heard before, and the song is about how sometimes you wish you didn't get to know people as well as you do. Once the mask is taken off and you see that person's faults, it's awful knowing that they don't have any hope to change them. Yet still, part of you has hope."

General Comment:I'm sorry, I had it a little wrong last time. A straight women is in love with a gay man, and she discoveres he's gay. She tries 2 make him change but he obviously can't. So in the chorus she says it's all his fault that he's gay, and no matter how hard he tries, he'll never be straight (which is true). So basically it's a lot like Your women by White town but the women is the straight one, and in Your women, the man is the straight one.

General Comment:These lyrics are similar to Your Woman by white town. A gay man is in love with a straight man, and the straight man simply doesn't like him back, and he tries to make him straight. It obviously can't work according to the chorus, and according to the facts of life. It's interesting how a lot of attack attack songs are either about Jesus our Homosexuality. Or at least it seems like it.
