I'm living' in that 21st century
Doing something mean to it
Do it better than anybody you ever seen do it
Screams from the haters, got a nice ring to it
I guess every superhero need his theme music

No one man should have all that power
The clock's ticking', I just count the hours
Stop tripping', I'm tripping' off the power
(21st century schizoid man)

The system broken, the schools closed, the prisons open
We ain't got nothing' to lose, ma' fucka', we rolling
Huh? Ma'fucka', we rolling'
With some light-skinned girls and some Kelly Rowlands
In this white man's world, we the ones chosen
So goodnight, cruel world, I see you in the mornin'
Huh? I see you in the mornin'
This is way too much, I need a moment

No one man should have all that power
The clock's tickin', I just count the hours
Stop trippin' I'm trippin' off the power
'Til then, fuck that, the world's ours

And then they say (hey) and then they say
And then they say (hey) and then they say
And then they say (hey) and then they say (21st century schizoid man)

Fuck S-N-L and the whole cast
Tell 'em Yeezy said they can kiss my whole ass
More specifically, they can kiss my ass-hole
I'm an asshole? You niggas got jokes
You short-minded niggas thoughts is Napoleon
My furs is Mongolian, my ice brought the goldies in
Now I embody every characteristic of the egotistic
He knows, he so, fuckin' gifted
I just needed time alone, with my own thoughts
Got treasures in my mind but couldn't open up my own vault
My childlike creativity, purity and honesty
Is honestly being crowded by these grown thoughts
Reality is catchin' up with me
Takin' my inner child, I'm fighting for its custody
With these responsibilities that they entrusted me
As I look down at my dia-mond-encrusted piece
Thinkin', no one man should have all that power
The clock's tickin', I just count the hours
Stop trippin', I'm trippin' off the powder
'Til then, fuck that, the world's ours

And then they say (hey) and then they say
And then they say (hey) and then they say
And then they say (hey) and then they say (21st century schizoid man)

Holy, powers, Austin, Powers
Lost in translation with a whole fuckin' nation
They say "How was the abomination of Obama's nation?"
Well that's a pretty bad way to start the conversation
At the end of day, goddammit I'm killin' this shit
I know damn well y'all feelin' this shit
I don't need your pussy, bitch I'm on my own dick
I ain't gotta power trip, who you goin' home with?
How 'Ye doin? I'm survivin'
I was drinkin' earlier, now I'm drivin'
Where the bad bitches, huh? Where ya hidin'
I got the power, make yo' life so exciting (so exciting)

Now this would be a beautiful death
Jumping out the window
Letting everything go
Letting everything go

Now this would be a beautiful death
Jumping out the window
Letting everything go
Letting everything go

Now this would be a beautiful death
Jumping out the window
Letting everything go
Letting everything go

You got the power to let power go?
(21st century schizoid man)

My Interpretation:First and foremost, I hate when people automatically associate Kanye West with the Illuminati. Ye is simply a well educated hip-hop ARTIST.

There's not much to say. The song is pretty straight to the point.

"21st Century Schizoid Man" this is what Kanye is calling himself. (I suggest you google the lyrics.) In "Power", Kanye only goes into further description.

Of course he is talking to himself in part of the song. Remember schizoid? Someone who performs better alone. Don't you talk to yourself when you're alone? If you know "21st Century Schizoid Man" then you will understand the song so much better.

All this leads up to the big "dun dunn dunnn". You got the power to let power go? Those that feel they are powerful are actually at the mercy of the people and things that give them power. It takes true power to accept that you’re not a god or something.

General Comment:Did anyone else notice that when "So exciting" repeats over and over, it begins to sound like "suicide, suicide, suicide" which goes into "Now this'll be a beautiful death, I'm jumping out the window, letting everything go."

No way that wasn't planned, Kanye is a genius.

General Comment:Could this be about stim use (like coke?) it's my official stims song (i dont do coke though, just rail concerta, but that is neither here nor there)

anyway, there are alot of little things that make me think of stim use

"I guess every superhero need his theme music"
    >you feel like a superhero in some ways on stims. like your up here and everyone else is down there (that works better in person so i can do the hand gestures, but i think you'll get the idea)

"No one man should have all that power"
    >you feel powerful, in a way

"The clock's tickin' i just count the hours"
    >Time is slower, also many nights are sleepless and you're left staring at the clock counting the hours

    "prison's open"
    >probably more of a political reference here, but could go to jail for coke

"Goodnight cruel world, i'll see you in the mornin'"
    >using stims to escape the cruel world for a night, but he'll have to go back to it in the morning

"This is way too much, i need a moment"
    >Thats a feeling you can get from stims, or alot of other things, but again it could be about stims

"I just needed time alone, with my own thoughts
Got treasures in my mind, but couldn't open up my own vault"
    >sometimes you get lost in your thoughts, but your thinking so fast you cant really elaborate on your thoughts and make them into an intelligent idea, but it is just these things bouncing around your brain.

"Reality is catchin' up with me"
    >he's coming down. come down on stims, especially coke, is notoriously bad as is the desire to re-dose
"Takin' my inner child, I'm fighting for it, custody"
    >he's fighting to keep his elevated, stimulated feeling and state of mind (his inner child). probably going to fight to keep it by re-dosing

"At the end of day, goddammit, I'm killin' this shit"
    >stims, in my experience, make you feel successful. you know that feeling when you do something difficult right? when you work really hard on something and it comes out perfect and it just feels like a job well done? its a feeling like that, but thats just my experience.

"I ain't gotta power trip, who you goin' home with?...
I was drinkin' earlier, now I'm drivin'"
    >talking about recklessness from the drug

"i got the power to make your life so exciting"
    >from the perspective of the drug, whatever it may be. stims make you feel interesting, interested, exciting, and excited

This is just my opinion, i am not saying that Kanye West does any drugs. Just how i interpret certain parts of the song.

just occured to me to explain that when i say stim(s) i am abbreviating for stimulants, a type of drug including cocaine, methamphetamine, amphetamine, methylphenidate, and many others. some legal, some not.

General Comment:Talking about how people go one power trips and lose control. This is including himself, so he's saying "No one man should have all that power"

General Comment:It says "21st century schizoid man" which is from the song '21st century schiziod man' who they are refering to a polotition. So you can sort of guess what he means when he says "one man should have all that power,". He is most likely refering to him self as a Schiziod man. I'm not sure if he just doesn't want the power or if he just feels he doesn't deserve it. Lately it has been sounding he is comming out of samsara, that might mean he relises that there are other people who need hia help or it might mean that he's looking back upon his life and just thinking about the things he has done. This would then explain why he is jumpibng out of a window. Also the song:'21st schizoid man' does refer to Malcom X, and thank you girlnamedhello for that explanation about Malcom X. It does say Collin Powells. And i can't believe no-one picked up that it says "you got the power to let power go?" at the end! But how god-damn catchy are the back up singers. Also this song goes GREAT with the saints row teaser trailer.

Song Meaning:I think this song has many meanings. But the meaning that sticks out to me the most is this...

I watched a Kanye West interview a couple months back saying he put tons of man hours into this song. So the way he words things aren't a coincidence.

No one man should have all that power (Maybe not Jesus, maybe himself)
The clocks tickin, I just count the hours (He knows Jesus is coming back)
Stop trippin, I'm trippin off the power ( Pretty much describes the next line)
Till then, F*** that, the Worlds ours ( He's tripping off his own power)

And THEY say (Sample says: Hail Satan)

Notice in the 2nd verse: With these responsibilities that THEY entrusted me

And THEY say Hail Satan, right?

This song is about 2 things, his ego and his power. The power he knows that won't last forever, which is why he says "Till then" in the last line of the chorus. Until the clocks done ticking, he will have his power. He knows when Jesus comes back, his power will be gone.

He's an Illuminati puppet "In this white mans world, we the ones chosen"

Song Meaning:Okay, let me just say one thing: Kanye is not with the Illuminati, and neither is JayZ. He is also not trying to usurp power from Jesus. Thats ridiculous. All Kanye's sayin in this song is that he, as a rapper, has a lot of influence, he's laughin at the haters, dissin SNL, he's definitely not apoligisin for anything, and the suicidal part is because he was actually depressed for a while.
"I'm livin in the 21st century, doin somthin mean to it"- He's acknowleging his influence over todays culture.
"No one man should have all that power"- He's saying he might have more power than other artists.

Though this song is very unique, its message is onne of self-glorification, not anti-christianity
