You sure, you're right?
Well no, you're wrong
You don't feel my energy
But it won't be long
I see the sun
Believe the dark
Soon I'll disappear
But I'll make my mark
All these fears
And all this love
All you've given me
Is not enough
All my dreams
And all this stuff
All made real
And it's not enough
Watching, waiting, shaping, faking
Shocking, pumping, mocking, stopping
Falling, stalling, warning, crawling
Rejecting, perfecting, loving, ending
Behind my eyes
Is rage alone
But you don't understand
It was all home-grown
I'm not afraid
I just don't belong
It may be cynical
But it all seems wrong
All these fears
And all this love
All you've given me
Is not enough
All my dreams
And all this stuff
All made real
And it's not enough
Watching, waiting, shaping, faking
Shocking, pumping, mocking, stopping
Falling, stalling, warning, crawling
Rejecting, perfecting, loving, ending
Behind my eyes
Is rage alone
But you don't understand

I mean, when you have everything (for instance, in this song, might be about having the perfect girlfriend or the love you always dreamt to have), but when you reach that point of Perfection you seem to feel a Void inside, due to philosophic questions that make you think about all your decisions (like, is this everything I wanted?)
The "fears" are when you, by the hand of this void you feel, think you can turn into a crazy person or ending alone for dissapointing the person with whom you are.
This is just my interpretation, as this happened to me with my first girlfriend when I touched the top of "the perfect moment" and my life and thoughts broken and I sort of "awakened", but the moment felt very very miserable and very cynical and no-belonging (It may be cynical. But it all seems wrong).
And this song always remembers me of that important phase in my life.
I love this song, I'm not a fan of Pendulum but I'm a real fan of Steven Wilson and his work. He is really a genious, and pendulum did great here with him.
Behind my eyes
Is rage alone
But you don't understand
It was all home-grown
really doesn't mean that much to me about what I explained, but well, it stills rings me that phase...
But artists are driven by an insatiable desire for recognition, and so they will never stop trying to please their fans. This song does an excellent job of describing the emotional cycle one may go through as he works, produces, gets rejected, and goes back to the drawing board.
Never thought Steven would work with a band like Pendulum and they would make it sound so f-ing good.
I'm stunned everytime I hear it.
Makes me, partly because of Steven's participation, think of Fear of a blank planet.
The whole aleination-theme.
Steven, putting feeling in his lyrics ('Everything you've given me is not enough' is a superb example), makes this track so more brilliant.
False. He helped with the songwriting too. And I didn't expect this cooperation either. And BrEnNo1023, nobody's saying Pendulum doesn't deserve any praise. So keep the WTFs to yourself.
I guess the meaning of the song is a lot like most of the songs Steven Wilson has written: distorted relationships. Whether between lovers, family or between the 'main character' and the rest of society.
Uh...WTF, Kitsune_Tokkan, is that supposed to mean? it sounds like a pretty arrogant thing to say, taking a shot at Pendulum's musical talent. You don't believe anything Pendulum can produce by themselves is worthy of your praise? This song wasn't made awesome by Wilson, he just sang a couple of lines when they told him to. Pendulum did the real work in turning this ALBUM into gold.
Stick to your british prog rock mate -.-
That's my interpretation though, amazing song with amazing lyrics!
