In my interpretation, this song has no linear meaning. But it's certainly about not feeling quite lucid, but not necessarily from drugs. It's about not being sure of things. But also the beauty and freedom of that ( And we'll go running off\tonight, high above, where we\won't even need to reach the \sky, my love.) But what's really interesting is not these themes, which have been widely used in other lyrics, but the way Kevin writes it. Very original, very colorful.
hill where you talk up what I' d play down" etc. The obvious interpretation is that he is peaking in a psychedelic experience and he wants to come down "lucidity come back to me." "I might
suck fizzle or I might just float away" is a cool line. Man I want to hit the bong or the mushrooms every time I here this track, or even the whole album! :) I've trawled through their early stuff on utube and I don't think I've heard a bad track. long live tame impala!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Also, the instrumental bit in the middle kind of reminds me of some of the music from The Mighty Boosh :)
