I was running out in the cold light,
Wondering where to go
To run away, without you

All my fear is coming home,
And it's ripped out for the show
You can't be me,
I will become you, tonight

I was wandering under black skies,
Clutching at what is mine
No control, left to lose
When I felt that it wouldn't phase me,
I ran and hid like a child
I feel so guilty,
I'll make it up to you, tonight

Bridges I've been dreaming are going down,
They're changing my future
Visions I had buried underground,
Return us our futures

I was breaking out of my own skin,
Choking upon release
I'm in no state, to judge you
Scratching itches best left alone,
Chasing memories I used to own
I can't wait until this is over, tonight

Bridges I've been dreaming are going down,
They're changing my future
Visions I had buried underground,
Return us our futures

Well the nightmares I've been having have arrived,
They're changing my future
Signs of my creation at my door,
How could you do this to her?

    My Interpretation:Yup, gotta agree with choclemon's interpretation: seems to be about running away from a partner who's bad for the singer, yet one who he still cares about. I find the 'visions I had buried underground' to refer to the doubts you start having with your partner when you've been with him/her for a while and just can't see it working out well in the end---hence how those doubts 'return as our futures'. Plus, while having these kinds of doubts in a relationship, it's pretty difficult to let them not affect your thoughts/feelings in a self-fulfilling prophesy ('changing my future') kind-of-way.

    The 'breaking out of my own skin, choking upon release' symbolism makes me think he just got out of a prior relationship that meant alot to him too. It would give reason why he thinks he can't judge his partner, feels so dis-empowered and puts up with the overwhelming amount of self-doubt I pick up throughout. Perhaps replacing someone he loved and lost with a different, more physical-relationship he's trying to stay detached from? If so, perhaps it's the prior partner all the negativity is directed at, while the guilt stems from him secretly knowing he's using the current one as a crutch to get over things.

    Either way, damn good song.

    General Comment:Based on all the comments and a careful listening to the amount of syllables in each verse and chorus I have determined this to be the most accurate transposition. My copy just happens to have Guitar Chords too.

    General Comment:Tjallen900's interpretation is my favourite. However we can also look at it as the singer being in a relationship where his partner has been abusive, controlling or unreasonable, and it makes more sense that he sings to/about the same person throughout the whole tune rather than suddenly switching halfway through a verse.

    He wants to "run away without you", because he would feel more safe that way, but doesn't know where else to go after leaving her. When he sings "you can be me, I will become you tonight", he could be talking about the switching of roles in their relationship, with him becoming the more dominant, aggressive one and she has to endure, because he desires revenge. But because he still has feelings for her, he asks himself "how could you do this to her?" at the end.

    Just my 2 cents.

    Song Meaning:A man is running away from his past. He wishes the best for his girlfriend, but can't do anything for the series of events that are about to unfold. He used to be stronger, but now he runs to the future in hope of answers.

    General Comment:Atm iam really confused what words are correct after going through a number of websites and what other people are saying. I've also watched the music video.

    Return us our futures
    or
    Return as abusers (I can definably hear the 'b' but alot of other websites have "futures", but this one makes more sense since futures was already mentioned)

    Signs of my creation at my door (does not really affect the meaning of the lyrics)
    or
    Siren of my creation at my door (does not really affect the meaning of the lyrics)

    Bridges I've been dreaming are coming down (personally I think this makes more sense, metaphor for the mental instability of the character)
    or
    Creatures I've been dreaming are coming down

    They're changing my future ( this one makes more sense, due to the bridge that are coming down)
    or
    The change in my future

    General Comment:Having watched the video and gotten basic info from that and formed my opinion. The song has 3 subjects, 2 of which are the singer. The good side of him (Jekyll). The bad side (Hyde) who is abusive to the woman he loves. And The woman he loves. The narrator/singer of the story is his good side - Jekyll.

    If you look below I have split the song roughly so you can see him talking at the other personality and at the memory of the woman he loves. Note that I put AT as the way he speaks to the woman it is presumed she is already dead and that he is talking to her memory/ghost/his guilt (whichever way you see it) while reliving the experience of his actions in her death. The way he talks at his bad side gives the opinion that for the time being the good side is in control however the bad side still lingers inside of him. Again very similar to Jekyll and Hyde.

    Lines where 'Jekyll' is singing to 'Hyde':

    "I was running out in the cold light,
    wondering where to go
    to run away
    without you.

    All my fear is coming home,
    handing scripts out for the show.
    You can be me,
    I will become you tonight.

    I was wandering under black sky,
    clutching at what is mine.
    No control,
    nothing left to lose.

    Well, I thought that it wouldn't phase me,
    but I'm running like a child......"

    Then halfway through the 4th verse he switches.

    Singing to the woman he loves:

    "I feel so guilty,
    I'll make it up to you tonight.

    The creatures I've been dreaming
    are coming down;
    they're changing my future.
    Visions I had buried underground,
    return as abusers.

    I was breaking out of my old skin,
    choking upon release.
    I'm in no state
    to judge you.

    Scratching itches best left alone,
    chasing memories I used to own.
    I can't wait
    until this is over tonight.

    The creatures I've been dreaming
    are coming down;
    they're changing my future.
    Visions I had buried underground,
    return as abusers.

    Well, the nightmares I've been having have arrived.
    They're changing my future.
    Sirens of my creation at my door;
    how could you do this to her?"

    General Comment:I'll tell ya. Picking out them meaning of this song brings me back to AP Literature my senior year of high school. The whole class was about picking out the real meaning of higher works of literature. This song definitely falls into the category of higher works of literature.

    General Comment:I think the song is about exactly what the title says, a crush. Many people fantasize about that one guy or girl, and in there mind that person seems so perfect. These fantasies are best left forgotten but always come back, and sometimes spills over into reality. And as fate would have it, you usually find out the true nature of this perfect person find, and either can't handle it and acting out, or not understanding why, and blaming yourself for it.
