I got my ticket for the long way 'round
Two bottle whiskey for the way
And I sure would like some sweet company
And I'm leaving tomorrow, what-do-ya say?

When I'm gone
When I'm gone
You're gonna miss me when I'm gone
You're gonna miss me by my hair
You're gonna miss me everywhere, oh
You're gonna miss me when I'm gone

I've got my ticket for the long way 'round
The one with the prettiest view
It's got mountains, it's got rivers,
It's got woods that give you shivers
But it sure would be prettier with you

When I'm gone
When I'm gone
You're gonna miss me when I'm gone
You're gonna miss me by my walk
You'll miss me by my talk, oh
You're gonna miss me when I'm gone

I've got my ticket for the long way 'round
These feet weren't built to stay too long
And I'll go there on my own,
But you'll miss me when you're home
It's for you dear that I sing this song

When I'm gone
When I'm gone
You're gonna miss me when I'm gone
You're gonna miss me by my hair
You're gonna miss me everywhere, oh
You're gonna miss me when I'm gone

When I'm gone
When I'm gone
You're gonna miss me when I'm gone
You're gonna miss me by my walk
You're gonna miss me by my talk, oh
You're gonna miss me when I'm gone

My Opinion:this is the best song ever and it is not the pitch perfect version

My Interpretation:I see this as the singer is dying and doesn't want to go alone.
The reference to the bottles of whiskey reminds me of old Western movies where whiskey was given as a way to make death easier.
Missing someone by the way they walk, talk, look leads to the notion that this person won't return for a long time, if ever.
Also, the reference to the feet not built to stay too long leads me to believe that the singer is young. The fact that the singer will go on this journey alone but the object of the song will miss the singer when he is at home shows that the pair had a strong connection as they shared a house, i.e. husband/wife, parent/child

General Comment:I can't believe they would put this song up for interpretation. Now I know everyone is going to be mad at me, but honestly, where's this song's creative/intellectual content? It's the exact same as every other doggone love song ever made. There's nothing really to discuss about a "song" where the "artist" doesn't take the time to write well crafted lyrics. I'd give this song (noise, rather) a 0/10.

My Interpretation:i don't know if you guys noticed the spirit of the entire song... it seems to be so cheerful, like there's nothing to be sorry for. this person is leaving, but it doesn't seems to regret anything. He/she is talking about what the other one will feel about that, but not about how is he/she feeling. He/she admits that it would be prettier with him/her, but it doesn't really ask him/her to come.

My Interpretation:I think that the song is about somebody who has to leave somewhere and they want the person he or she loves to come with them so they are trying to convince them to come with them by saying that they will miss them a lot when they are gone and won't be able to live without them

My Interpretation:What better way to convince someone to come along than to throw some guilt their way? Ready to move on, new destination has a pretty view, sure would be nicer with you by my side. But you'll miss me when I'm gone.
