I saw your picture hangin' on the back of my door
Won't give you my heart
No one lives there anymore
And we were lovers
Now we can't be friends
Fascination ends
Here we go again
Cause it's cold outside, when you coming home
Cause it's hot inside, isn't that enough

I'm not in love

Could it be that time has taken it's toll
Won't take you so far, I am in control
And we were lovers
Now we can't be friends
Fascination ends
Here we go again
Cause it's cold outside, when you coming home
Cause it's hot inside, isn't that enough

I'm not in love
I'm not in love
I'm not in love
We are not in love
We are not in love
We are not in love
We are not in love

General Comment:It's clearly about someone who just needs a 'friend with benefits'. Just needs a warm body, someone to hold. The other person doesn't understand so he explains he won't take it as far as love because he's still hurt.

My Opinion:Simple lyrics but must truthful songs when you talk about breakup ... Love this part:

" and we were lovers now we can't be friends"

General Comment:I am on the outside obviously because to me I hear a man (or woman) who protests too much. Why would anyone keep the picture of an ex on the back of his/her door if there were not special feelings for that person? And s/he doesn't say he doens't live in her heart; rather, nobody lives in her heart. That would imply (to me) hurt feelings that she has yet to deal with... And when one no longer cares, s/he moves on; s/she doesn't keep a photo and be too hurt to allow anyone in her heart. That's my take on it, anyway.

My Interpretation:I think it's more than that.

Seems to me they are talking about a dead or dying relationship, it does not work anymore, they loved each other.

The singer feels a huge void in their heart "no one lives there anymore".

The definition of being in love with that person doesn't fit either, it's more of a need.

She feels the need of companionship, they can't be friends because of everything that happened and he or she knows that things are way to messed up to get back together, but still

"cause it's cold outside, when you coming home
cause it's hot inside, isn't that enough"

The moment they get together and stop thinking about the past, that moment feels right, he or she doesn't want anything else. "Isn't that enough", I think it expresses that her need is fulfilled, that warmth is given to each other when they are 'together', not sure if it involves a sexual thing...

    That's just my own interpretation.

General Comment:I think it is definitely the singer is trying to convince himself and the other party that they are not in love,
with them obviously still being so. He still asks 'when you coming home'??

The love isn't dying.. 'It's hot inside'

General Comment:I herd this song right after my breakup from a long term relationship. and it was perfect. Someone you loved, no longer your friend...and "fasination ends" such is the truth. :3
beautiful song toats to the robert smith vocals!

My Opinion:I think the song means that he was in a great relationship and for whatever reason it was over and he is trying to convince himself or to both of them that they are not in love anymore. Although he probably would love to hang on to the greatest memories and keep thinking there is something there but sure enough there is not.

General Comment:I think this song it's about someone who has an official relationship (...cause it's cold outside, when you coming home
cause it's hot inside, isn't that enough...) and it's loosing a lover because maybe he cannot give more than that, the status of lover. He is so confused and trying to convince herself that he is "Not in love".

General Comment:I loooove the version with Robert Smith. The other vocals just annoy me. The songmeaning is quite obvious, I think you are trying and trying and trying again (and failing?) to convince yourself that you are not in love.
