You arrived!
In my dream..
Beside me every night,
You and me
We explode!
Through the scene
We try to drain the night
Empty

No one ever goes off in every way
Like you do

We got together
We weaved our web
Tangled in the waves
We *expected* to see red
We both erupt in colors
And carve out our names
You keep me aroused
I know you
Feel the same

You arrived!
In my dream
Beside me every night,
Just you and me
We explode!
Through the scene
We try to drain the night
Empty

No one else has a hold over me
Like you do
You open up the covers, you lure me in
Tackle me anxious, back into bed
Where I hope to discover all of your ways
This place is death
I know you
Feel the same

You arrived in my dream
Beside me every night, just you and me
We explode through the scene
We try to drink the night in every way

My Interpretation:I believe he is speaking about himself and his relationship to his subconscious. When we go to sleep, our ego "dies". We submit fully to the state of the subconscious, just like we will do when we die. When the dream state comes around our ego has an interface with our subconscious. Where I hope to discover all of your ways" is a tribute to the ego, trying to align with the eternal nature of our being.
"You open up the covers" kind of obvious he is referring to the layers of masks that cover our true nature.
"You lure me in" The ego does not give up easy, it has to be tricked.

My Interpretation:Transcribing this song brought me to tears once I realized its meaning in the context of the rest of the album. (Please see my posts for each track, starting with "Diamond Eyes".)

On his deathbed, the king addresses his wife. The album has told us that she existed as goddess, complex priestess, DIAMOND EYES, over the Earth for a very long time before the man begged her to let him join her ranks. She let him into her ROYAL chambers, and impressed with his compassion for the Earth, made him her king and gave him CMND. He distracted her from her duties with the pleasures of Earth. She lost her purity when SHE SAW THE BUTCHER. She waived her immortality to be with him physically, and when the PRINCE and Earth destroyed the planet, she was killed. Earth ROCKET SKATED into a state of hell. The only remnant of the beautiful past was the SEXTAPE. The Prince asked his father to take a RISK by opening old wounds and making an attempt at forgiveness. If the father ever wanted to forgive the son, who had committed evil, he was available at 976-EVIL. Earth was a PLACE OF DEATH because it managed to tempt and ultimately kill the complex priestess who had ruled for so long.

The king will always love the queen “No one else has a hold over me, like you do”

Please read my posts for each track and let me know if you think I'm on to something or if I am just completely butchering a beautiful piece of artwork. I thought this was Deftones' best work musically, before I even explored the meaning of lyrics.

Deftones rock. GREATEST.O.A.TIME.! Get better Chi!

General Comment:i dont think this song is about sex really, it could be but if you read in between the lines it sounds more like its about addiction... drug addiction, hell maybe sex addiction....sounds like he is addicted he talks about how it arrives beside him every night, and how it opens up the covers and lures him in. great song anyway, one of my faves.

General Comment:This is what Chino said in interview

Is "This Place is Death" particularly special to you?

Yeah, it is. Sonically, that's a Stephen song. A lot of people think when we have the ethereal stuff, it's always me, but Stephen was playing with his pedal board and he just got on to this song. Everybody just fell into place after that, and it sounded like chaos to me—but the most romantic, dirty chaos. Lyrically, I matched it a little bit. The song is like exploding out into the night and just going for it.

General Comment:I hate how everyone says every song is about Chi. How the hell could this song be about Chi?

    "You keep me aroused
I know you feel the same"

I don't think Chi in his semi-conscious state can either keep someone aroused or become aroused himself by way of Chino.

    "You open up the covers
    You lure me in
Tackle me anxious back into bed"

This means someone is bringing him to bed to have sex with him. It does not take a lot of insight to realize this. If you want me to bring Chi up again, I don't think in his semi-conscious state he could lure OR tackle someone into bed.

The most reasonable explanation for this song is it's about a relationship that is sexual in nature. Not about Chi. Just because Deftones have a friend who's injured doesn't mean they write every single song on their new album about him. Chill about every song being about Chi.

General Comment:Just Like Risk I think this song has double meanings. I wouldn't hold it beyond Chino to put multiple meanings int oone song. It's about wanting be be one with this girl who's making him do bad things but they don't care Like wtfstupid said but I also think it is about Chi's coma.

General Comment:As "kingtuesday" stated above, this song title is also the name of a Lost episode. Here is an excerpt describing the episode...

"After meeting the French science team, Jin reunites with the remaining Island survivors, who are experiencing trouble in coping with Charlotte's deteriorating health."

Possibly some relation to the band coping with chi's coma??

General Comment:This song is slowly becoming my favourite from Diamond Eyes (which in my opinion has surpassed my expectations and is now one of their best albums to date!!).... I personally think that this song is very sexual, with many subtle references throughout the song to sex, but the biggest thing for me is the title....my first thought was the french phrase for a female orgasm (Le Petit Mort - The Little Death) then when I properly listened to the song it seemed to fit that thought!! Would appreciate other peoples thoughts on this........
