Floating on the water ever changing picture
Hours out from land
In tune with all our dreams
The ocean takes me in to watch you shake it
Watch you wave your powers
Tempt with hours of pleasure
Take me one more time
Take me one more wave
Take me for one last ride
I'm out of my head
Tonight, tonight
Tonight, tonight
The sound of the waves collide
The sound of the waves collide
The sound of the waves collide
Tonight we ride
Cruising through the city after hours
With me fusing all our powers
Here's to all our dreams
Take me one more time
Take me one more wave
Take me for one last ride
I'm out of my head
Tonight, tonight
Tonight, tonight
The sound of the waves collide
The sound of the waves collide
The sound of the waves collide
Tonight we ride
Hours out from land
In tune with all our dreams
The ocean takes me in to watch you shake it
Watch you wave your powers
Tempt with hours of pleasure
Take me one more time
Take me one more wave
Take me for one last ride
I'm out of my head
Tonight, tonight
Tonight, tonight
The sound of the waves collide
The sound of the waves collide
The sound of the waves collide
Tonight we ride
Cruising through the city after hours
With me fusing all our powers
Here's to all our dreams
Take me one more time
Take me one more wave
Take me for one last ride
I'm out of my head
Tonight, tonight
Tonight, tonight
The sound of the waves collide
The sound of the waves collide
The sound of the waves collide
Tonight we ride

It appears the titular sextape is being used as a metaphor for mentally revisiting a romantic experience, whereas a sextape focuses on reviewing sensation, this song relives the emotion.
Hate on my comment if you wan't, fact remains, quantity always drowns out quality.
This is today's music industry in a nutshell.
Anyway to attempt to win over your respect i write this:...

I respect your answer but the lack of quantity in it makes me realize you probably didn't look into this enough to understand the whole thing.
(my earlier comment didn't help, I regret writing it as i was pissed of at the time that such a well written and cryptic song had 40 foolish opinions... I appologize for that spurt of negativity... didn't mean to come across as arrogant either, i should of just kept those thoughts to myself)

So back to the purpose of this reply, the whole thing:
A sex-tape focus's on letting men reenact the part of the male talent making them feel empowered or simply helping them re-experience the intercourse through imagination. However in the end the experience is not real. Its something we view like a dream. (heres to all our dreams)
Some men get addicted to that feeling, which effects their performance in the bed and motivation to seek regular sexual partners. Sometimes it even destroys marriages.

Women on the other hand like to see the opposite perspective. Aroused by a mans power. They all secretly want to be dominated in the bedroom, and they all love being desired and turning men on.
(watch you wave your powers)

The song is structured in an obvious way to reflect its written about two colliding perspectives. Which is again symbolized by the waves. (the sound of the waves collide)
Overall the song is a motivation track to make people have sex more and watch less pornographic videos. (the sound of the waves collide, TONIGHT!)

And if you think about it, that's pretty positive! :D
It should get you thinking weather your viewing pornography for the right reasons... To get you motivated or to satisfy your urges.

Maybe you should listen to the song again.... This time remember that reviewing is past tense, Chino used no past tense terms in this song.
He used current tense terms. As its a current issue effecting the globe.
Something that's effecting the world now, as you read my reply.

All songs relieve emotion in the right circumstance. Many of def-tones songs are good at relieving emotions.
However this song was written to make people think about A huge problem in modern day society(to create emotion not to relieve it), which is pornographic videos and how they kill some men and women motivation. (try not watch a porn movie for 3 months and see how it changes the way you think and behave)

With 42 comments I originally saw no way my meaning could come through that ocean of bullshit (you deserve an explanation). But replying to you ed-least gives me a small chance 1 person will ed-least read what i have to say and maybe just MAYBE understand the meaning i convey.
Have a think about it... My answer is backed up by fact and more fact.
The stanza structure, modern day research on porn movies And the fact chino on odd occasion likes to write some songs with a positive message. (just because people view most of deftones music as depressing doesn't mean there isn't some shred of beautiful inspiring messages hidden here and there like treasure)

But yeah i can see why you would think the songs about relieving emotion.
He is good at this , and creates allot of songs that are like emotional laxatives for traumatic or painful experiences. (like digital bath for instance, the title says it all haha) But in this case it's different! There are always exceptions. Once you understand the exception maybe you too can appreciate this exception more then you use to when you didn't understand it... and saw it as a repeat of everything else.

I know i did once i figured it out. : )
So on that note,Good luck brother I hope you improve your
intercourse after trying my 3 month suggestion out!
(assuming you already haven't figured this out and just happened to have not
made the connection in this particular song)
Peace-
Now that you've actually posted an interpretation rather than just an extremely condescending yet vapid comment you've gone up a few points in my book.

I love Deftones, one of my favorite bands, but I'm slightly less fond of their lyrics. I respect the poetic aspects, I just don't relate to most of their specific meanings (well, as specific as they get) as life expiriences and Chino Moreno's (and the rest of Deftones) are very different, we come from quite different backgrounds and I'm not as old and experienced as him. In relation to this song, I've had experiences with romance, but not with sex as I'm choosing to remain chaste until marriage (plus my current girlfriend is aesexual anyway). In interpreting this song I didn't closely analysis this lyrics, just focused on the romantic feelings the song gives, a few lines that stuck out while skimming over the whole thing, and the title in relation to those factors. I'm by no means the most emotionally intelligent person around (in fact I'm mildly autistic), but I can do that much. I think it's okay to tackle the song in that manner because if I recall correctly Chino Moreno said his lyrics are more meant to invoke feelings than tell a concrete narrative, and can be interpreted multiple ways (don't see why Digital Bath is an exception, it has clearer narrative than most the songs, but it's still got stronger emotional undercurrents that suggest a deeper meaning). An easy example is "Rocket Skates", where I have no idea what's going on with the title, but it's full of a mixture of violent and sexual imagery, including some double entendre like "I like you red, soaking wet", so the song can be interpreted multiple ways.

"They all secretly want to be dominated in the bedroom" The "they all" part is rather sexist, and how you supposed to know what all people secretly want, but otherwise good insight. Real nice insight into the sex tape thing.

"Overall the song is a motivation track to make people have sex more and watch less pornographic videos. (the sound of the waves collide, TONIGHT!)" Well, it does sound like he's trying to get someone to have sex with him again, but I don't think the song is that preachy. Those seem like a message Chino would send though, and a pretty positive one. Sex is something often demonized by the focus on pornography, but it's really beautiful thing.

"He used current tense terms. " Didn't notice that before, but I don't see how the implies it's referring to current events rather than a personal experience. Anyway, "Take me one more time" is the part that implies the past, as it's one MORE time. I didn't say reliEving emotion, I said reliving emotion. He's going through the experience of the first time again, and tonight he's going to do it a another time. He usually just relives it in his head, but now he's "out of [his] head".

I think your explanation is plausible, but the song seems too subtle for it to be trying to push such a message to the world. In the very least I think it has multiple meanings. The things you said about sex and pornography certainly are important. I'm not sexually active now, but I'll keep that in mind when/if (haha) I start getting it on.
