About the meaning, I believe that the song is about the desire of being with someone you lost or let go or went away. Is about the feeling of missing that person, and the memories with her/him "sound a lot like life and love". Maybe the chorus is about sex too, it could be something like imagine to be passionately together remembering old times: "Shedding skin to a dying song"...
I think that this is a song about miss someone or the moments with that someone when you're along and feel the need of being loved again...

ive got other ideas about it, but i dont really feel like typing that much..
