  My Interpretation:This song, like almost all of theirs, seems pretty straight-forward. The singer is speaking as someone who once thought they had found an ideal love, someone who would never hurt them, and who could appreciate their own 'beautiful heart'. Unfortunately, it ended badly, leaving her wondering not only how someone could be so cruel to her, and how something so treasured that seemed so right could be broken, but also certain that it has left her broken as well. Her deepest fear, now, is that she is, indeed, permanently scarred in her heart and soul, to such an extent that she will never be able to trust enough to ever love again -- be it trust in someone new, or trust in her own judgment which proven to be so painfully wrong before -- and/or that she may still love the person who hurt her so, and that she always will, to the extent that there may never be room enough in her heart for a new love, even if she did manage to overcome the fear and pain she's been left with enough to even attempt it. Anyone who's ever been deeply hurt by someone they truly loved and trusted completely will have no problem at all empathizing -- or identifying -- with the feelings .expressed in this song..

    I agree completely -- in fact, I registered just so that I could comment on their songs. I just found them today, after hearing "Lonely Ghosts" in an episode of "Doll House" and loving it. The vocals are truly beautiful, and while some of their songs' lyrics are a bit sparse, it's all so beautifully done that it's hard to even notice that until you actually look them up... and even the simple ones are extremely powerful (and, frankly, she could sing her grocery list or names out of the phonebook and with her voice and that enchanting music, it'd still be beautiful!).
