Today was a fairytale
You were the prince
I used to be a damsel in distress
You took me by the hand and you picked me up at six
Today was a fairytale

Today was a fairytale

Today was a fairytale
I wore a dress
You wore a dark gray t-shirt
You told me I was pretty when I looked like a mess
Today was a fairytale
Time slows down whenever you're around

But can you feel this magic in the air?
It must have been the way you kissed me
Fell in love when I saw you standing there
It must have been the way
Today was a fairytale
It must have been the way
Today was a fairytale

Today was a fairytale
You've got a smile that takes me to another planet
Every move you make everything you say is right
Today was a fairytale
Today was a fairytale
All that I can say is now it's getting so much clearer
Nothin' made sense 'til the time I saw your face
Today was a fairytale

Time slows down whenever you're around
Yeah yeah

But can you feel this magic in the air?
It must have been the way you kissed me
Fell in love when I saw you standing there
It must have been the way
Today was a fairytale
It must have been the way
Today was a fairytale

Time slows down whenever you're around
I can feel my heart
It's beating in my chest
Did you feel it?
I can't put this down

But can you feel this magic in the air?
It must have been the way you kissed me
Fell in love when I saw you standing there
It must have been the way
But can you feel this magic in the air?
It must have been the way you kissed me
Fell in love when I saw you standing there
It must have been the way
Today was a fairytale
It must have been the way
Today was a fairytale

Oh oh yeah yeah oh
Today was a fairytale

General Comment:This is the first single from the soundtrack for the romantic comedy Valentine's Day, in which Taylor Swift makes her movie acting debut. The country-pop singer wrote this song for the film.

The song features boy-meets-girl lyrics utilizing a fairy tale metaphor in a similar way to Swift's 2008 single "Love Story."

The song first appeared in late December 2009 in a teaser trailer for Valentine's Day.

Another page was written in Taylor Swift's own personal fairytale when it was announced that this song broke the record for best first-week download sales by a female artist moving 325,000 digital sales on the first February chart of 2010. The prior mark for biggest debut week download sales by a female artist belonged to Britney Spears' "Womanizer," which moved 286,000 units in October 2008. The largest opening week for a track among all artists was established by Black Eyed Peas' "Boom Boom Pow" (465,000) in April 2009.

Spears took her record back again in January 2011 when "Hold It Against Me" debuted with 411,000 downloads in its first week.

For those of you who like chart trivia, in its second week on the Hot 100 the song dropped from #2 to #22. The tune that had been #22 the previous week was Swift's collaboration with Boys Like Girls, thus demonstrating that two is indeed better than one. Maybe this song should have been titled "2day Was a Fairytale."

This song was only the second ever, following Eminem's Crack a Bottle, to debut at #1 on the Canadian Hot 100.

General Comment:This song describes perfectly the best first date I've ever been on. Every single time I hear it, I'm transported back. This kiss was perfect! And I was a damsel in distress. I was so lost when I had truly met him. I had seen him around before and our eyes had locked. I met him when I was 15 turning 16. He took me by the hand, and helped me up. He made my life a fairytale. He was my second boyfriend out of 3. I have never fallen out of love with him and I never ever will. Circumstances cause us to not be a couple but we are still best friends:) this song is his text tone and ring tone:)

General Comment:Sounds like a really really good first date or at least when you feel like you're falling in love with someone relatively new. Apparently s/he had a great time (great kiss, too) and there's love in the air. All is good with the boyfriend/girlfriend.

General Comment:AWESOME SONG!!!! LOVE TAYLOR SWFIT!!! This song may very well be one of her best!!! I love it when guys wear dark grey t-shirts too! You know the kind, a darker kind of heatherish, slate grey. They look so hot in it because no matter what color their eyes are, it brings them out like never before. Oh, how I wish my crush had a plain dark grey t-shirt!!!!

    Anyways, I LOVE THIS SONG!!!!
