i spied the government today
they seemed inclined to make us pay
after one hundred broken treaties & accords
they could not blame us for our pain
& if 1000 die tonight
no one could say just who was right
statistics tend to lie, but they don't mean too much
& i wouldn't trust those that use 'em as a crutch
for all the innocents that get murdered in the fray
we cried 3000 miles away
we found the remains of a corpse
investigate to seek the source
and in old pictures you seem happier at least
and your last witness saw you go with some police
i wish you here again to hold our nervous hearts
but that just wasn't in the cards
and if 10,000 die tonight
i hope that they put up a decent fight
for every innocent that gets murdered
