So this is the end of you and me
We had a good run and I'm setting you free
To do as you want, to do as you please
Without me
Remember when you were my boat and I was your sea?
Together we'd float so delicately
But that was back when we could talk about anything
'Cause I don't know who I am
When you're running circles in my head
And I don't know just who you are
When you're sleeping in someone else's bed
Three whole words and eight letters late
That would have worked on me yesterday
We're not the same, I wish that could change
But it can't
And I'll say your name and in the same breath
I'll say something that I'll grow to regret
So keep your hands on your chest and sing with me
That we don't wanna believe
'Cause I don't know who I am
When you're running circles in my head
And I don't know just who you are
When you're sleeping in someone else's bed
So it's true what they say
If you love someone, you should set them free
Oh, it's true what they say
You went and threw it away
I don't know who you are
I don't know who you are
Oh, 'cause I don't know who you are
When you sleep with somebody else
'Cause I don't know who I am
When you sleep with him
It's true what they say, you went and threw it away
We had a good run and I'm setting you free
To do as you want, to do as you please
Without me
Remember when you were my boat and I was your sea?
Together we'd float so delicately
But that was back when we could talk about anything
'Cause I don't know who I am
When you're running circles in my head
And I don't know just who you are
When you're sleeping in someone else's bed
Three whole words and eight letters late
That would have worked on me yesterday
We're not the same, I wish that could change
But it can't
And I'll say your name and in the same breath
I'll say something that I'll grow to regret
So keep your hands on your chest and sing with me
That we don't wanna believe
'Cause I don't know who I am
When you're running circles in my head
And I don't know just who you are
When you're sleeping in someone else's bed
So it's true what they say
If you love someone, you should set them free
Oh, it's true what they say
You went and threw it away
I don't know who you are
I don't know who you are
Oh, 'cause I don't know who you are
When you sleep with somebody else
'Cause I don't know who I am
When you sleep with him
It's true what they say, you went and threw it away

Together we'd float so delicately."
My favorite part.<3
You Me At Six is so absolutely amazing...hands down one of my favorite bands.
I sooooo can't wait 'til they tour in America(:
my boyfriend said he'd buy me tickets.
I think its so popular as alot of people can relate to it.
"Three whole words and eight letters late
That would have worked on me yesterday
We're not the same, I wish that could change
But it can't"
Well done Josh. His lyrics are so deep and emotional, there just genius!
Together we'd float so delicately
But that was back when we could talk about anything"
question! is this a metaphor?
-Two favourite parts.
"Three whole words and eight letters late.
That would have worked on me yesterday." I love the way this is worded mainly because it has more effect emphasising that only three words/eight letters could make all the difference if said at the right time.
"And I'll say your name, and in the same breath,
I'll say something that I'll grow to regret.
So keep your hands on your chest and sing with me
That we don't wanna believe" I feel the first part ties in nicely with the face the chorus gives off a feeling some what confused. And therefore may say something he'll grow to regret. But at this current moment in time he feels its what's right.
A truly beautiful song describing the trivialities of Love.
This song is just pure emotion. Such an amazing song as it clearly means a lot to Josh, if you watch a few live videos on Youtube, Josh makes a pretty swift exit and looks pretty emotional, which in my personal opinion takes the song to the next level as he singing each word with such emotion.
ANYWAY...
Clearly about a break up, which sounds like the passion had gone and by the end was an extremely exhausted and tired relationship. ('So this is the end of you and me, We had a good run and I'm setting you free, To do as you want, to do as you please, Without me')
The process of working who you are after a long term relationship, and also working out who they have become. ('Cause I don't know who I am, When you're running circles in my head, And I don't know just who you are, When you're sleeping in someone else's bed')
I think 'Three whole words and eight letters late' Is absolutely beautiful.
One of those songs that touches you, so you carrying on listening, put it on repeat, really listen to the lyrics, apply your own meaning and cry your heart out too!
Amazing.
fortunately they got bakc together but he says that he's glad that they split up whilst they did as it gave him inspiration for his music.
'Three whole words and eight letters late
That would have worked on me yesterday'
What are the three words and the eight letters late? I cannot for the life of me work it out!
song is beautiful.
