Moment of honesty
Someones gotta take the lead tonight
Whose it gonna be?
I'm gonna sit right here
And tell u while it comes to me
If u have something to say
U should say it right now

U give me a feeling that I never felt before
And I deserve it, I know I deserve it
Its become something that's impossible to ignore
And I can't take it
I was wondering maybe
Could I make you my baby
If we do the unthinkable will it make us look crazy
If you ask me I'm ready
If you ask me I'm ready

I know u said to me
"This is exactly how it should feel when its meant to be"
Time is only wasting so why wait for eventually
If we gonna do something about it
We should do it right now

U give me a feeling that I never felt before
And I deserve it, I know I deserve it
Its become something that's impossible to ignore
Its what we make it
I was wondering maybe
Could I make you my baby
If we do the unthinkable will it make us look crazy
Or would it be so beautiful either way I'm sayin
If you ask me I'm ready
If you ask me I'm ready

Why give up before we try
Feel the lows before the highs
Clip our wings before we fly away
I can't say I can't compare
I'm suspended it the air
Won't u come be in the sky with me

I was wondering maybe
Could I make you my baby
If we do the unthinkable will it make us look crazy
Or would it be so beautiful either way I'm sayin
If you ask me I'm ready
If you ask me I'm ready

This song is about Alicia Keys and Swizz beats finding out about her pregnancy. "I was wondering maybe, Could I make you my baby. If we do the unthinkable" She is referring to her unborn child. She is telling him how she feels and she is ready to take on the responsibility and wants him to be with her through it.

Song Meaning:It's about taking chances. I know that the video shows that it has to do with interracial dating. It's a very taboo topic. Along with dating anyone outside the realm of societies normality.

General Comment:This song is not about homosexuality or Satan. It is about a interracial relationship.
Interracial relationships is still not accepted between black women and white men. Only because
there are not as many bw/wm as you see ww/bm. I love this song , I love the time
    changes 50's, 60's,70's, 80's, 90s', 2000 s. I really like the video and the lyrics
I can relate this song . I know when i was younger I was so afraid of what people
will say if I dated interracial or dated an overweight person. So I missed out on
a lot of really wonderful relationships because of fear. The video was beautifully made
and I hope one day I will experience this love and the courage to follow through with it

General Comment:When I first heard this song, I immediately thought of her affair with Swizz Beats. I agree that it could articulate forbidden love in any kind of circumstance, but remember that you can't always judge the meaning of a song based on the music video content. In the video, it is about racial issues but in my opinion the song seems more about the affair. Yes, decades ago it was "unthinkable" to be in an interracial relationship. But it's also "unthinkable" to be romantically involved with someone who is married or otherwise taken, and that applies for all generations. That's one thing I love about this song; it can describe so many intense emotions from different circumstances where forbidden love is involved.

General Comment:This song is about homosexuality. I think the person is coming out of the closet. If this were the 1950s, then I can see it being about interacial dating. But there is nothing "Unthinkable" about interacial dating in todays time. Homosexuality is today's socially "Unthinkable" offense. Look at the line "time is wasting why wait for eventually..." This line is saying "why wait until gay marriage is more socially accepted?" When they say "would this make us look crazy?" again, nothing crazy about a man being with a woman. Brilliant song. I am a strait guy & I see the beauty of this piece. I love songs that deal with social issues, but know how to hide it in the lyrics. If she wrote a song that was clearly about "coming out the closet". Many people would reject it just because they are homophobic. But this musical masterpiece "tricks" people into subconsciously accepting the issue. BRILLIANT!!!

General Comment:Great song, and I love the video! Not just because Chad is there or anything, but just the way they make they approached the story using different settings and styles.

But, yeah it's pretty much about taking a leap, becoming serious with someone that you're really falling for...in the video though, they set this specifically up with an interracial couple. And I love how they use different eras to show how an interracial relationship could still be unthinkable. They have her as the same black girl but in the 50's, the 60's, the 80's and present. And each era, she's shown to be into a white guy (that likes her back) but isn't accepted by her family.

It's a very beautiful song, and it relates so much to how today-- in the year 2010--racial tension is still something that is very much going on. I myself, have been into a situation before, where I fell for a guy of a different race and I really liked him but I was too scared of what my family and his family would think so I punked out. I wish this song came out before, cause I'm sure it would have probably motivate me to give him a shot...and we could have worked it out. But oh well.

General Comment:Well I think you have to watch the video to understand the meaning. The song states basically that they both do want a relationship but should they do the unthinkable and make it official. The reason the are holding back is because they are not accepted together, he is a white man and she is a black women. The setting of the video also looks like they tried to achieve a 1950's look. Which we all know in those days that was pretty unacceptable. I would recommend for you to watch the video.
