Sunday mornin' wake up early,
Skip church service to find my Jesus.
I know it sounds so sacrilegious,
But I just don't belong in a place like that.

I love the cause but not the act.

'Cause Jesus was a friend and not a judge.
He loved the sinners as much as he loved the little ones.

That man was love and not an act.

I sing Hallelujah;
Hallelujah, I'm set free.

Sunday mornin' wake up early,
Skip church service to find true meaning.
I know it sounds so disappointing,
But I just don't belong in a place like that.

I love the cause but not the act.

I sing Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah;
Hallelujah, I'm set free.

    General Comment:P.s. it doesn't say in the Bible that you cannot do drugs, just use them consciously and not carelessly to a point where you could harm others or yourself. (Basically) like, don't get trashed, just settle with a few beers or a few hits. I asked someone that knows a lot about Christian
    Christianity and the bible and she told me this

    OH. And on my last post where it says Curie, i meant Chris. Stupid autocorrect. Lol.

    General Comment:All Chris is saying is that he believes in God, but he doesn't like the fact that the church judged him and kicked him out becausehe sinned. Yeah, i mean he DOES sin, but that doesn't mean he doesn't deserve to be a part of organized religion. He never said he was covering anything or justifying his sins, he just wishes his church would forgive him like God would. Christianity is centered around repent and forgiveness. It is a strong point in the Bible that God is a forgiving God. Chris knows that, but he sees that his church dismisses that fact. I totally understand Curie's point of view. My church is filled with judgemental people who will interrogate you for every little thing when they are the hypocrites here, because they sin too. Everyone sins. It is human nature. Now, while i don't agree with the fact that Chris does/did drugs, its his choice, ultimately. And hopefully he will see what it is to find serenity and happiness in just having a good relationship with Jesus Christ rather than just doing drugs all the time one day. DASIT. Take it from a 16 year old who knows her God. (:

    General Comment:I completely agree with this song, I grew up with people shoving religion down my throat and I gave up on the organized environment of church. I believe in God and that's all that matters, God loves us all even if we do sin.

    General Comment:I think that Christopher Drew is somewhat wrong, and somewhat right. But the reason why i think that the church judges a lot for people's apperance, is because in the bible it has some rules or things that God wants us to follow,for example how we look from the outside,so that we can keep our testimony as Christian. i am a person that believes that the way u look is the way you are from the inside.And the only thing that the church wants to do is for us to keep our testimony. The reason why the church is so strict about this and the reason why God set this laws and rules, is because i guess he just wants obedience from us, if he hadn't set this laws, any one would be aloud to go to his kingdom.

    OBVIOUSLY this song is about a boy who does believe in something, and does want to be remain faithful, but he is against organized religion, because a lot of organized religions are corrupt and, well, bad. I've experienced this firsthand as well. Jesus loves everyone, and he tries his best to accept everyone. I think it's wrong for churches to call certain types of people sinners and treat them unequally, especially gays/lesbians/bisexuals, etc. He just wants to believe in something without having to blame other people, so he'll find his own way to believe in what he wants.

    General Comment:What a great honest song this is.

    It's obvious that we're all sinners- including Christofer. Loving God is simple because He first loved us. (Its like if a really great guy asks you out to prom, its easy just to say "yes" because he made the first move, came to you, and all you have to do is respond).

    However, I have to say, once you get to know Jesus's great love, it changes you. It doesn't leave you all covered in your mud like a pig. His love picks you up, loves you just as you are, but then-- because He wants good for you-- He has to clean you off and make you like new.

    Song Meaning:This song was written about how Christofer got kicked out of his church when he was sixteen years old. He has clearly stated this a few times before singing this song live.

    General Comment:I agree with this song 100% i come from a very closed minded right wing town and i cant stand it here. I have classmates who say that they are christian and go to church every Sunday but still are the ones who talk the nastiest and are the ones judging all everyone around them, thats why i love the line I love the cause but not the act.

    'Cause Jesus was a friend and not a judge.
    He loved the sinners as much as he loved the little ones.

    General Comment:first all this hes just worshiping his own way stuff is not good. if you pick and choose what you want or don't want in your religion you then put yourself over your religion, God , and thus end up worshiping a form of your self.
    second i dont know what to make of this song im sure he means well but a church is a place for fellowship and comunion with other christians with like values. im sure he means well but then again if you listen to any of his other songs cuss words are used on a normal basis. now im not saying the lord almighty will "take off his head" or "condemn" him he is a forgiving Lord if you repent and turn away from your sin. but you have to have a clear message because he , we , i are living breathing moving examples of Christianity and people judge our religion by watching our actions.
    what i would really like is for a person with deeper understanding of the bible than me to give their opinion or i want chris's thoughts on it...

    General Comment:I honestly don't think Chris is attempting to say that sin is right or actually be sacrilegious in a literal way. Mainly he's just explaining his gripes with the world of Christianity in a general sense. Most of us are aware of how hypocritical that world is and how the people who call themselves true followers of Jesus Christ turn around and do the very things they tell others not to do. I understand this completely from growing up going to church and finding out just how so-called 'Christians' are.

    I think he's also saying that you can believe in Jesus and have some form of salvation without having to attend an actual and be free of the drama that goes along with it. A lot of people might not completely agree with that (including me at times), but I understand exactly what he's singing about.
