Lyrics for Missing as interpreted by onthefinishline

Missing Lyrics
I saw the queen
Swam out below her star on sea beneath
Though I lifted up my hands to her
She never lifted me

Oh something's missing in me
I felt it deep within me
As lovers left me to bleed alone

Found something sweet
On the island with daughters of Eve
But through thick and thin
They've gone away and only left their grief

Oh something's missing in me
I felt it deep within me
As lovers left me to bleed alone
Something's missing in me
I felt it deep within me
As lovers left me to bleed alone

Something's missing in me
(Something missing in me)

Down here love wasn't meant to be
It wasn't meant to be for me
All is vanity underneath the sun
All is vanity

Something's missing in me
I felt it deep within me
As lovers left me to bleed alone
Something's missing in me
I felt it deep within me
As lovers left me to bleed alone

Something's missing in me
Something's missing in me

how accurate are these lyrics? were they done by ear? i know the songs are streaming on myspace right now.

Ever since I saw the video of Lacey singing in the studio to this song, i've waited for it's release. I LOVE IT!!!!! Maybe even the best song on there!!!!!

I think the lyrics are correct, they came straight from the record label so they should be. :)

This is my second favorite song from MM. It just flows and has amazing lyrics. Such a good song!

ahhhhhhh Love this song!
The more I listen to it, the more of it I think I understand. Would I be right in thinking this song's about the unending love that God has for us that no one (no matter how close they are to us) can match? I think she's also talking about how people/friends/lovers sometimes leave you when things go pearshaped.
The "I saw the queen.." bit could be about her looking up to/loving someone who did not return her affection.
Either way, awwwwwwshum song :D

This is my favorite song from the new album.

And people, don't interpret their songs in the "Christian way" just because the band members are Christians. It's like what Lacey quoted P.O.D. for, "If I'm a plumber, and I'm a Christian.. does that make me a Christian plumber?"

Lacey is talking about how one sees love.. Or how a person once thought love was about, to say the least.

And all those wondrous thoughts you had about love leading you to paradise and an ideal world, broke down to false hopes. And no matter what you do, no matter where you go, you always feel something inside you that's missing.

Straight from Flyleaf's Page:

"Missing" is another song that shows how important love and life are. The hook is massive, but there's more to it. Lacey continues, "The bridge says "Down here love wasn't meant to be for me, all is vanity underneath the sun." The phrase makes you ask 'What would the world be like if we took love out of it?' Love is painful. It requires work. It's selfless. Even though it's difficult, if you take that out of the earth you're going to end up with nothing. C.S. Lewis said, 'The only place in all of the world where you can escape the dangers of love is hell.'" Nothing could be truer.

I love that a lot of their songs are about Jesus but this one is not.

After reading the journal entry in the album booklet, I think this song is about how people try to find their love on Earth and feel empty and lost when they cannot find it, because it is God's love that they are missing and longing for.

the beginning verse says she saw the queen swim and she lifted her hands to her and she didnt lift her up...
when i first heard this song i thought of someone drowning and seeing someone above them and lifting up their hands for help and no one lifting them...
i know no one has anything written thats anything close to this idea, and the rest of the song doesnt match what i just said either, but thats what i thought of.
