This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere.
In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.
Circle encircles the earth.
Chance and choice break his heart.
His innocent arm moves to save me,
And I am spared.
His beautiful arm is bloody and cut off;
His heart ripped out to show me he loved me.
But I wouldn't believe him.
He did all that he could.
I still would not believe him.
I left his arms empty and tied
Outstretched for me until he died.
Left his arms empty and tied
Outstretched for me until he died.
No man
Shows greater love
Than when a man
Lays down his life
For his beloved.
I left his arms empty and tied
Outstretched for me until he died.
Left his arms empty and tied
Outstretched for me until he died.
And here I am alive,
And I don't have the right.
And he gave me the right,
Costing him his life.
New mercy's in the morning.
I believe!
What if I believe you now?
Could it ever change this?
Forgive me,
Believe me,
And please come back to life.
I believe!
What if I believe you now?
Could it ever change this?
Forgive me,
Believe me,
And please come back to life.
Come back to my life.
I believe.
What if I believe you now?
Forgive me,
Believe me,
And please come back to life.
Chance and choice break his heart.
His innocent arm moves to save me,
And I am spared.
His beautiful arm is bloody and cut off;

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.
Magical
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.
Blue

Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.
American Town
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran shares a short story of reconnecting with an old flame on “American Town.” The track is about a holiday Ed Sheeran spends with his countrywoman who resides in America. The two are back together after a long period apart, and get around to enjoying a bunch of fun activities while rekindling the flames of their romance.
Could be? No. It's DEFINITELY about Jesus, though you could twist the lyrics to fit about the military.. maybe? Some of you might not know that Flyleaf is actually a Christian band. When I first heard the lyrics to this song I knew immediately who it was about..
"I left his arms empty and tied Out stretched for me until he died" Jesus died for us, as sinners. He died for the very ones who pushed him away.
"He did all that he could I still would not believe him" People believed in him AFTER the fact of his death. People today still don't believe in him, even after all he has done for us.
Jesus was the ultimate sacrifice. The most inspiring part of it is that he would've died if it was just for me or you.
Well put!<br /> AMEN!!!
This song is DEFINITELY about Jesus.
I think this song is from the perspective of someone who has witnessed the crucifixion - someone who didn't believe Jesus was the Son of God and came to believe shortly after Jesus died on the cross. How sad it would be to realize you watched your Savior die...too late to tell him that you finally believe in him. "Please come back to life" is a regretful plea.
ezmo, in his reply above, is right-on with the way the lines of this song correlate DIRECTLY with scripture.
I completely agree with you, that's how I see it when I listen to the song and that's how I picture the music video would be if they ever make one.
This song is about those who do not believe in Jesus. When she says "No man shows greater love Than when a man lays down his life For his beloved" that is what Jesus said to his disciples the days before he was put to death. This song talks about how even though Jesus died for everyone who sins to show love that person still wouldn't believe. But then they realized and asked for forgiveness.
Whether this song is about Jesus or not, I think of it as a tragic love story. I am atheist though, so maybe that's why.
Well, this song is beautifully written either way, and it brings out strong emotions in me. I love it.
No, you're correct. Even if it is about Jesus, it's a tragic love story, at least from this perspective.<br /> <br /> The story of Jesus is the most beautiful love story ever penned, even if you are an atheist it should bring out deepest emotions. <br /> <br /> The story of Jesus is about the son of God, who knowing full well the consequence of creating humanity before even time had begun still saw something in them that he loved enough to create and then later die to redeem.<br /> <br /> The Church is called the Bride of Christ for this very reason. The story of creation and redemption told in the Bible is nothing if not a love story. I hope you enjoyed it. :D
NicoleLaura (: You Are Correct(: I Completely Agree(:
From the lyrics and reading the CD booklet, I think this song is about how Jesus saved mankind and mankind crucified Him (and has been recrucifying him over and over ever since then). Some see the wrong they have done and turn towards Jesus, realizing that His words are truth and that He truly loves them. The cycle (circle) of people crucifying/forsaking Jesus and then turning to, and believing in, Him continues through time.
The thing I like about Flyleaf's songs/lyrics apart from the obvious EPICNESS! Is that each song has a different meaning to everyone to me this song is about Jesus, and maybe how Lacey felt/feels from when she was younger .
The stanza "And here I am alive, and I don't have the right, but he gave me the right costing him his life" Seems to me that it talks about how Jesus died for our sins. I'm getting that tattoo'd (My first one) hopefully very soon as it means a hell of a lot to me.
"I believe (...)" indicates to me, the day her Grandmother took her to church, the day before she was going tp end it all, and the vicor (or someone simular) told a story which seemed so much like her life. "Although you've never had a father He can be a father much better than anyother" (not quoted word-for-word) Thus resulting in Laceys faith in God.
I don't mean to get all "preachy" but wether or not you believe in God, during the times you feel like you have no hope left try praying. I did, i asked him to help me, and the next day i bumped into these wonderful LDS missionaries who just talked to me and asked if I would like to learn more about them... Honestly, I believe God has saved me many times... =]
OK Blabbering over ^_^. Just enjoy the music! =D
@ credoche I totally agree with you. In the jewelcase booklet the "story" threw me off cuz it talks about the wife thinking her husband was cheating and how he saves her etc etc. I don't know why they did that cuz it's clear to me it's about Jesus and the rest of the stories in the booklet make sense with the songs. Someone on youtube put clips of the Passion movie to Circle and it was great--my eyes welled up. In fact everytime when it comes to the part in the song where she sings "I believe..." it makes my eyes well--it's just so moving and so beautiful. This sounds silly but in all the years I've gone to church I've never felt more closer to God than from listening to certain songs on this album, Circle and Treasure most of all. I think Circle is Flyleaf's masterpiece, it's become one of my favorite songs of all artists. But getting back to the meaning--I feel it's about Jesus because of certain clues that do not pertain to the women and husband story. Like "But he gave me the right" That could only be Jesus giving us the right to be alive--not a husband savingi you. And "New mercy's in the morning" which means we are all given mercy for what Jesus did for us. How would "new mercy's in the morning" relate to the hubby story? Plus "I left his arms empty and tied outstreatched for me until he died"--well...I don't remember in the story how her husband died but i dont remember them talking about being crucified and that's the picture I'm getting. The only line I was confused about was "his beautiful arm, bloody and cut off" How was Jesus's arm cut off? I'm curious to know what you think about that line. <br /> Funny about the tattoos cuz the day I heard this song I wanted to get a tattoo as well as part of Arise.<br /> Epicness-yes!
this song is amazing its about gods love 4 us if u read the bible stories talk about him saying he was jesus and noby belived him but now a lot of people do and they now belive it and want him to come back
I WISH HE COULD COME BACK! TEAM GOD AND JESUS
I think it has several meanings.
At first i thought (and hopefully its not true) that what she is talking about is what actually happened.
Then i listened a bit and i thought "Could this be about how jesus died for us, and we didn't really believe what he was saying until he died" as quoted
I belive! What if i believe you now Could it ever change this Forgive me, believe me Please come back to life
Another meaning i thought of, which i believe happens soooo much, is that we don't realize what we have until its gone. Maybe this guy liked you and kept flirting with you and you told him all the time that you weren't interested, and once he stopped, you started to feel for him once he stopped. (or vice versa) I've experienced this feeling soo much in my life (not necessarily in this context) but i'm pretty sure the rest of you have felt this before, too.
Love this song~!
Is this about Jesus?
When I first heard it, I thought it was about her husband (she is lacey strum now congrats) but when I saw the lyrics properly I guess its about Jesus.

Yes, I believe this is about Jesus, a perfect man, who died for the filthy sinners on earth, even those who don't "believe him" (His beloved).<br /> <br /> I believe this is a song about someone who lived a sinful life and didn't believe in Jesus, but now got a second chance in life and knows He saved them from their sin.
123 IF U R ON TEAM JESUS!!!!<br /> 123
I thought this was about Christ Jesus as well (there is NOONE like him at all!!!!:) )my friend pointed out a couple places in the lyrics... where it says "His beautiful arm is bloody and cut off", this is inaccurate about our Lord, Psalm 34:20 says "<br /> he protects all his bones, not one of them will be broken."... it is fulfilled here, John 19:33-36 "33 But when they came to Jesus and found that he was already dead, they did not break his legs. 34 Instead, one of the soldiers pierced Jesus’ side with a spear, bringing a sudden flow of blood and water. 35 The man who saw it has given testimony, and his testimony is true. He knows that he tells the truth, and he testifies so that you also may believe. 36 These things happened so that the scripture would be fulfilled: “Not one of his bones will be broken,”<br /> <br /> "also Forgive me, believe me<br /> Please come back to life" clearly Christ is Risen <br /> Matthew 28:6 "He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay."<br /> <br /> oh and to zeldaluv... 123 !!!
i could be about Jesus? i'm thinking it's about the sacrifice to protect. i'm pretty sure it could be a solider. and i'm sure flyleaf dedicates this song to the men in the military.
they do dedicate this song to the military, but it was written about Jesus and how he saved us just like soldiers are saving us today. There is a correlation.
