She refused the love of God, though he gave his only son to save her soul. Because of this he was 'saddened' at the loss of yet another of his children. Hence 'Chance and choice break his heart' Then came the day that she rediscovered God and realized that he loved her. 'Forgive me, believe me, please come back to life" Forgive my sins and forgive my lack of faith. Please come back to me, come back into my life and make it better than this.
That or it could be taken as a man loved a woman but she didn't love him back. One day she was in danger and he came to her rescue. He saved her life, and yet she still didn't love him. He died for her, and yet she felt nothing. After his death she then realizes that she did have feelings for him, and she regrets ignoring him, and leaving him to die with his arms reaching out to her in one last attempt to show his love. She wants to be with him and begs him to forgive her for her lack of reciprocation and all the times she ignored him, to believe what she says is true, and come back to her, because she now realizes that she needs him in her life, and wants him back. What if I believe in your love? Will you forgive me and come back, or is it too late?
Now that it's in a more...simple translation, you can see that this also can translate to God's love for his children. When you finally accept him as your one and only God your life is improved. You ask him to forgive you and believe that you mean what you say, and one day he'll come back for you to take you home. Come back to my life.

At first i thought (and hopefully its not true) that what she is talking about is what actually happened.
Then i listened a bit and i thought "Could this be about how jesus died for us, and we didn't really believe what he was saying until he died" as quoted

Another meaning i thought of, which i believe happens soooo much, is that we don't realize what we have until its gone. Maybe this guy liked you and kept flirting with you and you told him all the time that you weren't interested, and once he stopped, you started to feel for him once he stopped. (or vice versa)
I've experienced this feeling soo much in my life (not necessarily in this context) but i'm pretty sure the rest of you have felt this before, too.
