Circle encircles the earth.
Chance and choice break his heart.
His innocent arm moves to save me,
And I am spared.

His beautiful arm is bloody and cut off;
His heart ripped out to show me he loved me.
But I wouldn't believe him.
He did all that he could.
I still would not believe him.

I left his arms empty and tied
Outstretched for me until he died.
Left his arms empty and tied
Outstretched for me until he died.

No man
Shows greater love
Than when a man
Lays down his life
For his beloved.

I left his arms empty and tied
Outstretched for me until he died.
Left his arms empty and tied
Outstretched for me until he died.

And here I am alive,
And I don't have the right.
And he gave me the right,
Costing him his life.
New mercy's in the morning.

I believe!
What if I believe you now?
Could it ever change this?
Forgive me,
Believe me,
And please come back to life.

I believe!
What if I believe you now?
Could it ever change this?
Forgive me,
Believe me,
And please come back to life.

Come back to my life.

I believe.
What if I believe you now?
Forgive me,
Believe me,
And please come back to life.

Could be? No. It's DEFINITELY about Jesus, though you could twist the lyrics to fit about the military.. maybe? Some of you might not know that Flyleaf is actually a Christian band. When I first heard the lyrics to this song I knew immediately who it was about..

"I left his arms empty and tied Out stretched for me until he died" Jesus died for us, as sinners. He died for the very ones who pushed him away.

"He did all that he could I still would not believe him" People believed in him AFTER the fact of his death. People today still don't believe in him, even after all he has done for us.

Jesus was the ultimate sacrifice. The most inspiring part of it is that he would've died if it was just for me or you.

This song is DEFINITELY about Jesus.

I think this song is from the perspective of someone who has witnessed the crucifixion - someone who didn't believe Jesus was the Son of God and came to believe shortly after Jesus died on the cross. How sad it would be to realize you watched your Savior die...too late to tell him that you finally believe in him. "Please come back to life" is a regretful plea.

ezmo, in his reply above, is right-on with the way the lines of this song correlate DIRECTLY with scripture.

This song is about those who do not believe in Jesus. When she says "No man shows greater love Than when a man lays down his life For his beloved" that is what Jesus said to his disciples the days before he was put to death. This song talks about how even though Jesus died for everyone who sins to show love that person still wouldn't believe. But then they realized and asked for forgiveness.

Whether this song is about Jesus or not, I think of it as a tragic love story. I am atheist though, so maybe that's why.

Well, this song is beautifully written either way, and it brings out strong emotions in me. I love it.

    My Interpretation

From the lyrics and reading the CD booklet, I think this song is about how Jesus saved mankind and mankind crucified Him (and has been recrucifying him over and over ever since then). Some see the wrong they have done and turn towards Jesus, realizing that His words are truth and that He truly loves them. The cycle (circle) of people crucifying/forsaking Jesus and then turning to, and believing in, Him continues through time.

The thing I like about Flyleaf's songs/lyrics apart from the obvious EPICNESS! Is that each song has a different meaning to everyone to me this song is about Jesus, and maybe how Lacey felt/feels from when she was younger .

The stanza "And here I am alive, and I don't have the right, but he gave me the right costing him his life" Seems to me that it talks about how Jesus died for our sins. I'm getting that tattoo'd (My first one) hopefully very soon as it means a hell of a lot to me.

"I believe (...)" indicates to me, the day her Grandmother took her to church, the day before she was going tp end it all, and the vicor (or someone simular) told a story which seemed so much like her life. "Although you've never had a father He can be a father much better than anyother" (not quoted word-for-word) Thus resulting in Laceys faith in God.

I don't mean to get all "preachy" but wether or not you believe in God, during the times you feel like you have no hope left try praying. I did, i asked him to help me, and the next day i bumped into these wonderful LDS missionaries who just talked to me and asked if I would like to learn more about them... Honestly, I believe God has saved me many times... =]

OK Blabbering over ^_^. Just enjoy the music! =D

    Song Meaning

I think it has several meanings.

At first i thought (and hopefully its not true) that what she is talking about is what actually happened.

Then i listened a bit and i thought "Could this be about how jesus died for us, and we didn't really believe what he was saying until he died" as quoted

I belive! What if i believe you now Could it ever change this Forgive me, believe me Please come back to life

Another meaning i thought of, which i believe happens soooo much, is that we don't realize what we have until its gone. Maybe this guy liked you and kept flirting with you and you told him all the time that you weren't interested, and once he stopped, you started to feel for him once he stopped. (or vice versa) I've experienced this feeling soo much in my life (not necessarily in this context) but i'm pretty sure the rest of you have felt this before, too.

    Love this song~!

    Is this about Jesus?

When I first heard it, I thought it was about her husband (she is lacey strum now congrats) but when I saw the lyrics properly I guess its about Jesus.

Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

Silent Planet
I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Magical
Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.

Blue
