This is wrong but
I can't help but feel like
There ain't nothing more right babe
Misty morning comes again and I can't
Help but wish I could see your face

And I knew from the first note played
I'd be breaking all my rules to see you
You smile that beautiful smile
And all the girls in the front row scream your name

So dim that spotlight, tell me things like
I can't take my eyes off of you
I'm no one special, just another wide-eyed girl
Who's desperately in love with you
Give me a photograph to hang on my wall
Superstar

Good morning loneliness
Comes around when I'm not dreaming about you
When my world wakes up today you'll be in another town
And I knew when I saw your face I'd be
Counting down the ways to see you
And you smile that beautiful smile
And all the girls in the front row scream your name

So dim that spotlight, tell me things like
I can't take my eyes off of you
I'm no one special, just another wide-eyed girl
Who's desperately in love with you
Give me a photograph to hang on my wall
Superstar

You played in bars, you play guitar
And I'm invisible and everyone knows who you are
And you'll never see, you sing me to sleep
Every night from the radio

So dim that spotlight, tell me things like
I can't take my eyes off of you
I'm no one special, just another wide-eyed girl
Who's desperately in love with you
Give me a photograph to hang on my wall
Superstar
Sweet, sweet superstar
Superstar

General Comment:I think that it's about Joe Nichols. I head the demo and it says he was born in Arkansas (I can't remember the lyrics exactly). I first thought it was John Mayer or Joe Jonas, but since neither of them were born in Arkansas, it wouldn't make sense.

So Joe Nichols was the only likely country singer born in Arkansas (the others were just too old), and after some detective work, it seems like he was in a local rock band ("You played in bars") and then he won the CMA Horizon award in 2003, meaning he must be pretty well known, especially to a country fan like Taylor. Also he went on tour in 2004, so she may well have gone to one of his concerts, fitting the lyrics perfectly. If Superstar was written 2004-2005 then it would make sense.

It might not be true, but idk finding something relating to it has given me a bit of closure after spending the last 3 and a 1/2 years wondering who my favourite song was written about ;)

General Comment:I do agree with ada111 that it could be about John Mayer because if you research his bio, he has played in blues bars before he was famous and does play the guitar. So it's definitely not about Joe Jonas. John also is around 10 years older than Taylor and became famous before her so it would make sense. I think this song is about her relationship with John and how it should be wrong but it felt right and how in love she was with him.

General Comment:it talks about a girl who is a really big fan of someone maybe a singer or something and she wants him to think of her as someone who wants to be with him not just a crazy fan girl

i realate to it a lot because if i see myself listening or hearing it i always see myself dedicating it to adam lambert i know i know that's pretty far fetched but it's true

My Interpretation:I don't think that this is necessarily literally about a celebrity. I think it's about a guy who's popular or older than her.

"I'm no one special, just a wide-eyed girl who's desperately in love with you."

She's daydreaming about him from afar, because she knows her chances with him are slim. She puts on a pedestal, like a celebrity. Like a crazed fan, she's wild about him, but has to accept that he'll probably never feel the same way.

"So dim that spotlight, tell me things like, 'I can't take my eyes off of you.'"

She wants to know what he's really like underneath it all. Even though all the girls are after him for his looks/athletic ability/whatever, she really wants him to "dim the spotlight" so she can know the real guy underneath his act.

General Comment:Basically she has a huge crush on a famous musician, someone who plays guitar obviously. she knows to him she'll always be just another fan and will never win his heart, even though all she dreams about is him noticing her among all of the other girl fans.

My Interpretation:Personally, I don't think it's about a famous person, I think it's about the "popular guy" at her school that she knows she might never get a chance with.

The line "you smile that beautiful smile and all the girls in the front row, scream your name" made me think that these "girls in the front row" were the popular, pretty girls who got all the guys.

That's just what i interpretated the song like though.

General Comment:She's in love with a superstar and he'll never know, and so this brings her pain and sadness. That's really about it, but it's very relatable and a very pretty song.
