Lyrics for Slow Life as interpreted by brittlynn

Slow Life Lyrics
I think I know what's on your mind
A couple words, a great divide
Waiting in the wings, a small respite
Crowding up the foreground from behind

Even though you're the only one I see
It's the last catastrophe
Place your bets on chance and apathy

Take anything you want, it's fine
Keep up the slow life for the night
Don't take it back, I'll just deny
This constant noise all the time

Even though you're the only one I see
It's the last catastrophe
Place your bets on chance and apathy
From the wind in front of me

Even though you're the only I see
It's the last catastrophe
Place your bets on chance and apathy
From the wind in front of me

Even though you're the only I see

Ok, this is my first submission to SongMeanings, even though I've been a lurker for awhile now. This song is from the New Moon soundtrack (for those of you who don't know, part of the mega-force franchise that is Twilight), which means a lot of people hating because of the throngs of crazy hormonal fan girls, haha.

But, I love me some Grizzly Bear, and the whole album is comprised of great indie artists. Anyhoo, I took a stab at this one because I love love love this song (which features Victoria LeGrand of the group Beach Houses). I sat here and listened to this song over and over and couldn't grasp some of the lyrics, so I went online to find them...and there was pretty much nothing.

So feel free to correct...my motivation was to figure out what the hell Ed Droste is saying in the chorus. I like to be able to sing along confidently to the songs I like alot :)

Those lyrics are so very wrong
These are the right lyrics:

I think I know what’s on your mind
A couple words, a great divide.
Waiting in the wings, a lofty spy,
Crawling out from the foreground from behind.
Even though you’re only one I see, I’ve got to set you free.
If you dance on chance I'll never be the wind in front of me.

Take anything you want, it’s fine.
Keep up the slow life for a while, the night.
Don’t take it back, I’ll just deny.
This constant noise of the silent night.

Hey, I'd just like to say this is pretty much the best guess at the words I've seen so far. But I have to agree that "From the wind in front of me" is very obscure. Just to put my two cents worth in, I think he might be saying "Tell me when this world is free." But I could be totally wrong. At this point its anybody's guess.

Kristenn,

pretty sure your lyrics are the most wrong i have ever seen. They don't even match the vowel sounds of what the singers are singing.

The lyrics that have been posted are completely correct, with the only possible mistake being 'from the wind in front of me'.
