I think I know what's on your mind
A couple words, a great divide
Waiting in the wings, a small respite
Crowding up the foreground from behind
Even though you're the only one I see
It's the last catastrophe
Place your bets on chance and apathy
Take anything you want, it's fine
Keep up the slow life for the night
Don't take it back, I'll just deny
This constant noise all the time
Even though you're the only one I see
It's the last catastrophe
Place your bets on chance and apathy
From the wind in front of me
Even though you're the only I see
It's the last catastrophe
Place your bets on chance and apathy
From the wind in front of me
Even though you're the only I see
A couple words, a great divide
Waiting in the wings, a small respite
Crowding up the foreground from behind
Even though you're the only one I see
It's the last catastrophe
Place your bets on chance and apathy
Take anything you want, it's fine
Keep up the slow life for the night
Don't take it back, I'll just deny
This constant noise all the time
Even though you're the only one I see
It's the last catastrophe
Place your bets on chance and apathy
From the wind in front of me
Even though you're the only I see
It's the last catastrophe
Place your bets on chance and apathy
From the wind in front of me
Even though you're the only I see

Place your bets on chance and apathy time to win this openly."
But to me the last part sounds like "time to win this honestly"
a couple words, a great divide.
Waiting in the wings, a sparring spite,
crawling out the foreground from behind.
Even though you're the only one I see,
it's the last catastrophe.
Place your bets on chance and apathy.
Take anything you want, it's fine.
Keep up the slow life for the night.
Dont take it back, I'll just deny
this constant noise all the time.
Even though you're the only one I see,
it's the last catastrophe.
Place your bets on chance and apathy
to the wind in front of you.
Even though you're the only one I see,
it's the last catastrophe.
Place your bets on chance and apathy
to the wind in front of you.
Even though you're the only one I see . . .
(if you think that's wrong then your wrong, it's this thing on itunes (lyrica) says are the lyrics... and it sounds right.)
A couple words, a great divide - The words that express the previous line, a great divide sayin something is about to change.. drastically.
Waiting in the wings, a small respite - Waiting in the wings, waiting for the Angel to usher him to Heaven
Crowding up the foreground from behind - Saying that there is no way out
Even though you're the only one I see - When he has his victim, and already knows how to execute, he thinks of nothing else.
It's the last catastrophe - It was a catastrophe because the victim knew it was coming, it wasn't flawless
Place your bets on chance and apathy - Saying, that it's irrelevant that the victim knows, and his fate is grim
Take anything you want, it's fine - Reasoning with the killer
Keep up the slow life for the night - Further more
Don't take it back, I'll just deny - Here he is saying that the killer shouldn't try to repent because he knew how ruthless the killer is/was
This constant noise all the time - The noise symbolises stress, cause he knew.
Even though you're the only one I see - x
It's the last catastrophe - x
Place your bets on chance and apathy - x
From the wind in front of me - At this point in his decision, the only way to move is forward, it's too late to turn back
Even though you're the only I see - x
It's the last catastrophe - x
Place your bets on chance and apathy - x
From the wind in front of me - x
Even though you're the only I see - He says this last, cause it means something different this time. This time, the victim is speaking again. The victim is saying that he's no longer afraid to die, he feels he's lived righteously and that he doesn't have regrets.
"I think I know what's on your mind
A couple words, a great divide "
(You dont want to do this, you're going to say a few words that will push me away)
"Even though you're the only one I see
It's the last catastrophe
Place your bets on chance and apathy"
(I love you but this is the last time I can take a chance on love. This person has been hurt in the past.)
"Take anything you want, it's fine
Keep up the slow life for the night"
(Ill give you anything if we can have one more night together)
This person is in love and is willing to make one final chance at love with someone but this person is a bit worried that the person they love will slip away.
I have this song all plotted out in my head, it's kind of pathetic...But that's what I do with songs I love.
I see this song as a couple that's not on the same page. He loves her, but he's sick of the relationship, or how she's treating him. He's stayed with her through most of it because she's "the only one I see," but he's saying, this is the last time I'm putting up with this shit, I'm done.
She sees the metaphorical storm on the horizon, "I think I know what's on your mind..." and knows he's going to leave her, but she is basically begging him to stay.
From the wind in front of me'
You still love each other, hence 'Even though you're the only one I see'
You know the kind of environment where there's just arguments, and distance but you can't define why ..
Because you love the other so much still you don't want to shout 'I'm taking the dog, or half this house is mine' you just want peace for the night, no more arguing, it's not worth it (slow life).. it's all been said and done. You won't patronise them by accepting their ownership of blame or take responsibility for it yourself either, because you've both realised there's no point in denying you've decided to give up, you don't want to listen to the noise anymore.. the arguments..
Take anything you want, it's fine
Keep up the slow life for the night
Don't take it back, I'll just deny
This constant noise all the time
They've decided it's time to say goodbye 'It's the last catastrophe' (by the way, that's what I hear).
While I find the lyrics very sad, the music itself makes you want to remember the good before it's too late.
It's bittersweet, as is most things with twilight. I love this song.
** an after thought:
'take anything you want, it's fine Keep up the slow life for the night' could mean - i love you so much, take anything you want, whatever makes you happy. I won't try to stop you, I'll put my brave face on & keep the peace tonight.
'don't take it back, i'll just deny this constant noise all the time' could also mean you don't want the other to have any any regrets of what they once had because you're able to put aside all the 'noise' & 'arguing'.. pretend it didn't exist or deny it because you did have love once.
"Even though you're the only one I see
It's the last catastrophe", meaning the relationship will fail for the last time and they won't allow the cycle to continue.
Its an all consuming concept, to love someone but to not trust yourself to manage the relationship in a way where the other and yourself won't inevitable be hurt in the process.
I think I know what's on your mind
A couple words, a great divide
Waiting in the wings a small respite
Crowding up the foreground from behind
Possibly about a relationship ending, at least the lull in between the words spoken and the inescapable feeling that you know what's about to happen. Unsaid but looming over you growing in intensity.
Even though you're the only one I see
It's the last catastrophe
Place your bets on chance and apathy
From the wind in front of me
As great as their love is for this person, they will never endure another in their stead, or even at all. Whatever becomes of them is Russian roulette, carried away on the wind.
Take anything you want it's fine
Keep up the slow life for the night
Don't take it back I'll just deny
This constant noise all the time
It's a bit foggy at this point but I'll try to focus on one conclusion. I think here they give themselves to resignation, keeping up the slow life for the night until it is time to put choices into action. Then defiance, don't take back your decision out of fear of what I might do, I'll just deny everything.
catastophe.." well in the artist personal life i think she keeps seeing the person she loved over
and over again.and in bella's case its about how she sees edward eveywhere she goes. the first time i think she sees the apparition of edward is when she's about to get on some random guy's bike to see if she can see him again. and last the last catastrophe is about i think suicide and when bella jumps off the cliff that's supposed to be the last catastrophe but then jacob saves her. :)) sorry for my rambling
