Lyrics for A White Demon Love Song as interpreted by aristuma21

A White Demon Love Song Lyrics
White demon love song down the hall
White demon shadow on the road
Back up your mind, there is a call
He isn't coming after all
Love this time
She likes the way he sings
White demon love song's in her dreams

White demon, where's your selfish kiss?
White demon sorrow will arrange
Let's not forget about the fear
Black invitation to this place that cannot change
While strangely holy, come for a rain

(Darling)

White demon, widen your heart's scope
White demon, who let your friends go?
White demon, widen your heart's scope
White demon, who let your friends go?

Let us be in love
(Let us be in love)
Let's do old and grey
(Let's do old and grey)
I won't make you cry
(I won't make you cry)
I will never stray
(I will never stray)
I will do my part
(I will do my part)
Let us be in love tonight

White demon, widen your heart's scope
White demon, who let your friends go?
White demon, widen your heart's scope
White demon, who let your friends go?

(Stand it anymore, darling)
(Stand it)

(I can't stand it anymore, darling)
(Stand it)

i think it's
"He HEARS IT coming after all
All this time"
instead of "he isn't coming after all"

anyway, such an awesome song can't wait
to see where it ends up in the movie

I can't believe the song is on the New Moon soundtrack. It really disgusts me. The Killers are WAY better than that. I think they're SUCH an amazing band that they deserve everyone to know about them and love their music, but I just really feel like this is the wrong way to get more popular.

Anyway, I don't think the song really is fitting for the movie anyway. (I've read the book.)

And just to let everyone know, this song was not written for the soundtrack. They didn't want to put it on Day & Age. Just wanna make that clear...

Besides the whole New Moon stuff I think the song is absolutely brilliant!

The Killers have really gone downhill fast. This could have easily fit on Day & Age with all those other horrible, trying-too-hard-to-be-epic songs.

To me, this song seems like it would be from Jacob's point of view.

The whole "White Demon" meaning could be directed towards Edward.

"He isn't coming after all" Refering to how Edward left Bella and never plans to come back.

"She likes the way he sings white demon love songs in her dreams" Refers to how Bella still loves Edward.

"White demon, where's your selfish kiss? White demon sorrow will arrange Let's not forget about the fear
Black invitation to this place that cannot change" Refers to what would happen to Bella if Edward was still with her: selfish kiss-biting to change someone into a vampire, a place that cannot change-being a vampire, they never age.

"Let us be in love, Let's do old and grey, I won't make you cry, I will never stray, I will do my part, Let us be in love tonight" Refers to how Jacob feels for Bella: He loves her unconditionally and never wants to hurt her, even though he knows that she's inlove with Edward and doesn't feel the same way about him.

I really, really like this song, and that is my interpretation. I am very much a Twitard, and I have always loved the Killers, so I was extremely pleased that they made it onto the soundtrack with such an awesome song. =]

First, just to clarify: I am a fan of the whole twilight/new moon business, but this won't bias my opinion..
second:
this song shouldn't be based on New Moon. It is associated by being in a scene in the movie and on the soundtrack. relatable to New Moon, just not based from New Moon.

I may be COMPLETELY wrong.. I am in a funny mood as i discuss this:

I think this song is almost self-explanatory. Its about a girl who is in love (or strongly likes) a boy who maybe doesn't know her or notice her in the same way.

she waits for him to notice, while changing herself in ways she thinks might make him like her more. This results in her becoming obsessed and depressed. Over this she loses her friends respect for being something she's not..

The narrator is all the while trying to catch the girls attention "I'll never break your heart; lets do old and grey" etc.

the chorus is essentially telling the girl to open up her eyes and heart; not to focus on one guy who doesn't feel the same towards her; to look to the guys who will treat her right and love her back..

as i said this all maybe completely irrelevant, but its kinda where i see it going.. feel free to prove me wrong :) i want to know what you guys think. Great song, have always been a fan of the Killers

This song originally was not intended for the New Moon album. It just didnt make the cut for Day & Age.

This is from an interview w/ Brandon.

"They approached us. We had this song that didn’t end up making it onto the new album — the band’s a democracy, so it was a split decision. It’s called “A White Demon Love Song.” We thought [the soundtrack] was a good opportunity to get that song out there. It kind of fit perfectly with the movie."

Thank you Zeratul001 for letting everyone see the quote from the interview. I'm getting kinda annoyed with people thinking they wrote the song for the movie.

Anyway, I think this song is about two people in a relationship and maybe he's away a lot because of the "on the road" part. And then they break up and she's waiting for him to come back but "he isn't coming after all of this time." So then I think they're both upset about it and she's constanting thinking and dreaming about him "she likes the way he sings white demon love songs in her dreams"
Not really sure about the "wheres your selfish kiss" line. Maybe he broke up with her and kissed her before he did it as a sort of goodbye kiss and he thought it was selfish to do that when he was just going to leave her. But then I think he's saying that even though they love each other they can't be together because of them constantly being apart. That's what I think the line "lets not forget about the fear" is about. He's saying they both want to be together, but he doesn't want to get back together because he remembers the fear of worrying if she's cheating on him or something like that while they're together. So basically, that part won't change. "Black invitation to a place that cannot change."
Then I think he realizes he's being stupid and it can work even if they'll be apart a lot. "Widen your hearts scope." As for the "Who let your friend go" I think maybe when they broke up their friends kind of took sides well not necessarily took sides, but stopped being friends with either her or him so he's saying he didn't mean for that to happen, so he's saying "who let yor friend go" as in, was that my fault? So since he realizes he doesn't want to be apart anymore despite them having to be away from each other, he is asking for her to get back with him. "Let us be in love, let's do old and gray I won't make you cry, I will never stray. I will do my part. Let us be in love tonight." So that is obviously him asking her to get back with him because he's telling her he'll never leave her and he'll always love her and do anything for her. And then the line "I can't stand it anymore, darling." Is just him saying he can't stand being away from her any longer so that's just another way of him trying to get her back.

I could be wrong, but I think it's more important what the song means to you individually rather than what the person who wrote the lyrics actually wrote it about. =)
