Into the night
Desperate and broken
The sound of a fight
Father has spoken
We were the kings and queens of promise
We were the victims of ourselves
Maybe the children of a lesser God
Between heaven and hell
Heaven and hell
Into your eyes
Hopeless and taken
We stole our new lives
In defense of our dreams
In defense of our dreams
We were the kings and queens of promise
We were the victims of ourselves
Maybe the children of a lesser God
Between heaven and hell
Heaven and hell
The age of man is over
A darkness comes at dawn
These lessons that we learned here
Have only just begun
We were the kings and queens of promise
We were the victims of ourselves
Maybe the children of a lesser God
Between heaven and hell
We are the kings
We are the queens
We are the kings
We are the queens
Desperate and broken
The sound of a fight
Father has spoken
We were the kings and queens of promise
We were the victims of ourselves
Maybe the children of a lesser God
Between heaven and hell
Heaven and hell
Into your eyes
Hopeless and taken
We stole our new lives
In defense of our dreams
In defense of our dreams
We were the kings and queens of promise
We were the victims of ourselves
Maybe the children of a lesser God
Between heaven and hell
Heaven and hell
The age of man is over
A darkness comes at dawn
These lessons that we learned here
Have only just begun
We were the kings and queens of promise
We were the victims of ourselves
Maybe the children of a lesser God
Between heaven and hell
We are the kings
We are the queens
We are the kings
We are the queens

for me the title tell the story.
its about us the one who rule our self
the one who make choice
the one who suffer for our own mistake.
we make the choice
no one can tell u what to do
but can guide u.
in the end you are the one who rule
choose,and suffer.
for the choice that we have made.
you are the kings and queens
for your self.....
Into your lives
Hopeless and Taken
We stole our new lives
Through blood and pain
In defense of our dreams
In defense of our dreams
If you imagine those lyrics in the face of incomparable tyranny, they sound like a victory. Stealing back, through blood and pain your new lives, the ones that were taken from you and put so hopelessly out of your reach. Doing it all in defense of your dreams.
The chorus, I feel like, is the part where everyone gets hung up.
We were the Kings and Queens of promise
We were the victims of ourselves
Maybe the children of a lesser God
Between Heaven and Hell
the first verse quotes right before the chorus, Father has spoken. Maybe the chorus is what 'Father' said? All in all it sounds like the recounting of a mighty battle. Maybe literal, or symbolic. And then we get to the third chorus, and I feel like the song opens up with this gorgeous explosion of possibilities.

The age of man is over, because we've become something more. We're not just men and women anymore, we've connected on a deeper level. Through all of our sufferings, and through all of our common battles, we've become something more than individual beings.
We've become a single heart, beating out a united rhythm. At our core, we all want the same things: security, acceptance, love. That's the evolution from the age of men, which is all about war and greed, to a new age centered on these common goals. Overlooking individual differences and focusing instead on the commons that drive us all.
This sounds like an anthem for that.
It almost evens sounds like an epilogue to their other song 'This Is War' - it's the other side of that battle; that evolution. When it's said and done and, though it wasn't pretty, we've all come out the other side of it and begun to rebuild.
we had control of theworld, but all we are doingis killing eachother andeverything else too,
andthrough this we were the victims ofouselves
We were the Kings and Queens of promise-- we had control of the world
We were the victims of ourselves* shouldnt it be victims instead of phantoms--we detroy each other and the earth so we will just end up killing eachother
Maybe the Children of a Lesser God-- Religion is so often what spaks war
Between Heaven and Hell--who ever we are fighting we neverthink their God is higher thanours
Heaven and Hell
Into the night
Desperate and broken
The sound of a fight
Father has spoken
This sounds like an abusive father.. I'll go with authorative figure (say a president). kind read this in a "You Go to War" and theres nothing you can say about it...
We were the Kings and Queens of promise
We were the phantoms of ourselves
Maybe the Children of a Lesser God
Between Heaven and Hell
Heaven and Hell
This relates to being a child. All promise, phantoms of ourselves aka just ghost of what we will become. "Children of a lesser god" was a movie about deaf kids I think the Maybe here is stating that we sorta of ignored what was going on a little. Between heaven and Hell is Limbo. A state of waiting to see what is going to happen. "children who put themselves in a postion to be victims.
Into your lives
Hopeless and Taken
We stole our new lives
Through blood and pain
In defense of our dreams
In defense of our dreams
This seems to be simpley the result of the winners of war, taking what they wanted in lack of reguard for anyone else

The age of man is a term used to describe the 4 (or 5) ages of mankind on this earth. The last age of man is described: "During this age might makes right, and bad men use lies to be thought good. At the height of this age, humans no longer feel shame or indignation at wrongdoing; babies will be born with gray hair and the gods will have completely forsaken humanity: "there will be no help against evil."
The age after is suppose to be without kingdoms obviously there's going to be a lot of work that needs to be done.
We are the Kings
We are the Queens
We are the Kings
We are the Queens
I don't know given everything it could be taken positively that the promise is now achieved or I suppose it could darkly mean you are now reaping what you have sown
